  1. Good to hear something new about Space battleship Yamato will eventually be released. In regard to seeing to either a Matusmoto or Nishizaki version, I appreciate the fact that Matusmoto created Space Battleship Yamato (along with Captain Harlock, Galaxy Expess, etc), but I woud like to see a continuation of the orginal series first before a re-interpretation.
  2. I say leave well enough alone and I hope none of that stuff comes to pass <_< . In re-releasing the orginal trilogy, Lucas should do the same thing that was done with Indiana Jones. Clean up the sound and the film along with tacking on an extra DVD with bonus material. He owns and created the Star Wars, but it is getting kind of ridiculous all of these revisions.
  3. Personally, I think J A Dare nails it with the fact that Hikaru is a teenager when he starts out in the series. Whether the orginal Macross series or the RT tweek, viewers see him thrown into combat situations. Along with growing and learning to deal with war and conflict (hospitalized after getting shot down, losing his mentor, dealing with the death of comrades, etc), he eventually realizes that he wants someone a little more grounded in life by the end of the series, which turns out to be Misa.
  4. Little? I just want one 1/48 Roy Fokker VF-1S with strike armor, but I'm holding off until I take care of some bills first. You not only have three of those, but three of each 1/48 valkyrie. Along with Yamato, you must be making your toy supplier very happy .
  5. Intended for children, I think it serves its purpose as entertainment. I just wish the episodes were longer. We will have to see how this plays out along some other supposed planned LFL merchandising.
  6. It's a question of maintaining public interest until Episode 3 which also translates into milking money out of the Star Wars name. As opposed to the orginal trilogy, the current Star Wars franchise has a lot more competition (Matrix, LoTR, etc). LFL management wants to do its best to keep the general pubic (adults and children) enthralled with Star Wars. Hence why we see Star Wars films being on DVD before the ep3 is finished.
  7. Thanks Shawn for making these available. I always love how the japanese toy commericals animate the product in their commerials . Wow, those Southern Cross model commercials bring back memories. It would be great to see if Dragon or BBI did a line of action figures based on that series' armor.
  8. Curse you. Now I'm really excited about the next episode. As all of you have said, things appear to be picking up.
  9. Cultural issue. The Bandai representatives at SDCC 2003 explained how young american audiences would not understand the idea of "super deformed," hence the new use of the SD acronym of superior defender.
  10. If you have the cash (which I sadly don't ), I would pre-order the foreign market version. I am sure the Hasbro one will be easily accessible.
  11. As a volunteer staff at Comic-con 2003, I moderated a room where Hasbro talked about the Star Wars line and Bandai America talked about Gundam. The key speakers reminded of two important things. The adult toy fan may add to sales of a toy line and may even bolster them. However, children are the ones who make or break toy sales. I have cousins who have young children. Like a lot of you, I do not really like some of the new Transformers (I can't stand the Armada storyline), but my cousins' kids love them and buy the toys .
  12. RX-93 (with and without HWS) FAZZ GFF 0014 EX-S Gundam Taskforce Alpha Gundam Mk II Sazabi MS-18E Kämpfer Alex NT-1
  13. Well, I have never seen these before and they were priceless.
  14. I am a huge Space Battleship Yamato fan. This piece looks extremely detailed . I have to wonder how big and how heavy that piece is.
  15. Oh brother, when I saw this, I wanted an hour of my life back . For me, this made GI Joe. the Movie, seem like Masterpiece Theater. I will admit that it was nice to see a new GI Joe storyline in CGI, however story wise there were just too many problems. As many of you mentioned, it seemed one big commerical for their toys. There were a few nice touches like actually watching Stormshadow and Snake-eyes fight along with showing how Heavy-Duty is Roadblock's nephew. Personally, I wish this movie had the same feel of the Starship Troopers: Roughneck Chronicles series. Descent CG and a nice ongoing plot. Sadly, I am sure Hasbro will never approach such complex character development for a children's television show and it would probably be considered to violent for their marketing tastes. If this proves successful, we may see more GI Joe stuff.
  16. A good reminder might also be that all of us can put a link to an image if we have the picture posted somewhere using the following code. "http://[/img-]" This way all of us could help reduce the amount of files stored on the message board.
  17. The gal's name is Gina Gatto. Check the following on the Mylene Costume thread here .
  18. Batman #619 came out today which concludes the storyline for now. While not wanting to give too much away, I found the following interesting: Harold's fate Who the identity of Hush is and why the person did what they did. Given previous issues, one might see how the pieces fell into place. What course will Two-Face/Harvey Dent take? How should the Riddler be handled in light of recent events? Jason Todd is dead, but there are still questions to be answered. How will Batman and Catwoman's relationship play out, now that she knows his identity, but there is still distrust?
  19. So does this make the JOINT Strike Fighter our pseudo-proto-Valkyrie? B) As various members have pointed out, valkyries play a number of roles in various campaigns. In Macross Plus, you could see how the UN Spacy tried to push the envelop on assessing the YF-19 and YF-21's air and ground combat capabilities. JSF program, for both Lockheed and Boeing, definitely represents the current trend to create a jack-of-all-trades fighter. These fighters willl serve the USAF, USMC and USN, along with the UK, to replace current jets like the F-16, the Harriers and the A-10s. Joint Strike Fighter (JSF)
  20. Thanks for sharing Graham. I hope you will post pictures of these new beauties. Pretty sounds like all the other Gundam FIX toys with a lot of detail, but fragile enough where we have to be careful with it. Curses, another FIX toy I will probably end up getting .
  21. GI Joe: Spy Troops airs Saturday, September 27, and Sunday, September 28, on Cartoon Network. Check the QKtheatre for showtimes here. This movie will also be included as DVD with a few extras in a 12" two-pack of Snake-eyes and Stormshadow. Links to pictures and review of the DVD can be found here (caution, spoiler material here). Word of note, one should remember how much Transformers (the vehicle versions) differentiates from the original 80s show. While the same characters from the 80s are used in the new CGI film, let's just say they appear to be interpretted in a different light. Think classic Marvel in comparison to their Ultimate counterparts.
  22. Thanks for the heads up. Little hints like that will make transforming a 1/48 FP easier when I eventually get it. Yamato made a great series of toys, but it's definitely complicated.
  23. Uh, when and where those pictures taken? Maybe I'm too used to the stormtroopers and Boba Fetts in the 501st legion, but those costumes look odd .
  24. I'm on a cosplay board for Indiana Jones and Tomb Raider. Someone posted a link for a huge review of Dragon-con 2003. In one of the pictures, I saw some gal dressed as Claudia.
  25. Just like the Miss Macross pageant, I see Shao Pai Loon was intended to boost moral of the soldiers and civilians <_< . While it woul have been nice to make money, I'm sure the military did not care. The only people seem focussed on the "quality" were the actors and prodcution people. Probably thought they were actually making something (how little did they know it would confuse their enemy).
