  1. Thanks for all the clarifications. Given my budget and it sounds like it will be re-issued with the improvements used in the later 1/48 Valkyries, I will hold off.
  2. Still downloading episide 48. I love the weapons/rocket pack called Meteor. With the Dendrobium, Super Gundam, Deep Striker, you gotta love how there always has been to be that strap-on engine/weapons pack.
  3. I guess what I'm trying to say is that Animenation shows the price at $140 and not $112. Animenation's Yamato 1/48 VF-1S.
  4. With Ray Parks being cast as Iron Fist and having played Darth Maul, I think he would make a great Snake Eyes. A good Storm Shadow (Joe or Cobra version), especially with his moody characters in his American films, would be Jet Li. Someone mentioned at the Mylene costume thread that Famke Janssen should play the baroness. Given her performance as Xenia Onatopp in Golden Eye, she would be perfect as the Baroness. And to the image that started this thread, Gina Gato looks hot , but I doubt she has enough acting experience to play the Baroness. For more on her, check out my comments at the Mylene Costume thread.
  5. Dream come true indeed. As a child, I saw three things in my childhood that have influenced my anime and toy habit. On a local television station (now a Fox affiliate), I saw a program about a flying battleship called Starblazers. When I went to San Francisco's Japantown as a child, I picked one of the cheap throwaway manga books and got hooked on Gundam. In the fall of 1984, I caught the first episodes of Robotech. Flash 20 years later and those childhood interests have turned into adult appetites (and companies know it). I have bought a bunch of the Leiji Matsumoto Museum Yamato pieces and the soul of chogokin Yamato. With gundam, I have acquired a lot of MSIA, Master Grade and FIX pieces. Yamato and Bandia have taken a good chunk of money due to my interest in Macross. As a kid you may want everying, but as an adult I am having to learn restraint .
  6. As people have said, and I checked myself, the price listed at Animenation is $140. Where did you see the reduced price of $112? On a similar topic, I see that at HLJ that the VF-1S Focker version is considered "out of production.' Will Yamato truly make a limited number of these pieces or do people think they will fill the demend of fans? 1/48 VF-1S Transformable Valkyrie "Roy Focker"
  7. Gina Gatto, the gal who dressed up as the Baroness for Wizard World and SDCC 2002, was an actress hired by Hasbro to do conventions. Aside from the Baroness thing with Hasbro, she will be Liberty Lass in Mark Hamill's Comic Book: The Movie . For information about her involvement with that project and her thought on being the Baroness check here. While she did the Baroness thing as a professional job, she did know how to be playful with fans. While I did not go to Dragon-con, the Baronesses at the convention were purely fans dressing up with other GI Joe cosplayers. As to the gal in the blue dress <_< , that would be Tracy. Her husband, Zen, and her run a cosplay site called Adventurer's Place To Vostok 7, if you are really interested in learning about resources to get a scout and/or TIE outfit, let me know. I own both and I can point you in the right direction. I should caution that getting into this type of cosplay gets quite expensive. Enough hijacking of the thread , we now return to our discussion of Mylene cosplay.
  8. People do cosplay for all sorts of reason. I do cosplay in relation to Star Wars characters and comic book heroes. I belong to an imperial cosplay called the 501st Legion that has over 2000 members all over the world. Some people dress up to play out characters that they would not normally dress as in their normal lives. Others do it to get attention and boy, can they get attention. For myself, I participate in this hobby because it allows me to play out characters that I enjoyed as a I child and that I enjoy now. Dressing up with others, I also enjoy the fellowship. The 501st also does community service events (toy drives, hospital events, etc), so I also like using the hobby towards a beneficial end. Let me give some visual examples. Here is a picture from a hospital visit that I did with some fellow club members at a local Sacramento children's pediatirc wing (I'm the biker scout in the middle). Dragon-con, in a Atlanta, GA, can be considered one of the largest costuming gatherings in the US (basically one huge costuming party for four days). Here are a couple attention getters from this past weekend. And by the way, I have seen my fair share of anime and other types of cross dressing. To each is his own, but I swear that I wanted to gouge out my eyes when I saw one guy dress as Shampoo from Ranma or another time as a sailer scout.
  9. You might want to explore other outfits and post your question at Cosplay.com as the site seems to deal with anime related outfits.
  10. I love diorammas with tin soldiers, but this rock. I have to wonder how many people and hours it took to build this.
  11. As someone said it before on another post, prequals seem very popular (Star Wars, Star Treck, etc) <_< . Depending on how a product is approached, an artist or mech designer will put their own spin on a storyline even with the history they are given. Personally, I have to agree with a lot of people that it seems a little more advanced in terms of its design then the destroids of the orginal series.
  12. That's right, turn a nice little discussion about character and mech information into a cheescake splash.
  13. I have to agree with you on the quality of the FIX RX-93. Along the VF-1S Strike Valkyrie (Fokker version), the RX-93 is one of my favorite mechs. If one has the money , I would buy the FIX version instead of the one released by Bandai North America.
  14. From what I remember I seeing on E!, they will do the same thing as with Fellowhip of the Ring. They will release the standard edition and release the expanded version in November. Personally, I am waiting to buy all three movies in one collection.
  15. Ask and you will receive. Takara will do a special 20th anniversary edition of Optimus Prime. Labeled, "Masterpiece" Convoy, the item will cost around ¥ 8,980 (approximately $75 to $78 USD) and is scheduled for release around December 2003. Here is a picture of a supposed prototype. In regard to the rest of the classic Transformers, Transformers: Alternators, may be an answer to the rest of the classic vehicles. The new series supposedly matches Pat Lee's Dreamwave artwork, has full poseabiliy, has die-cast metal construction, and looks like a metal vehicles model when transformed. Here is the Smokescreen version set to come out in September.
  16. At least at the gundam.com page, the webmaster notes the possibility that it may return. Only time will tell if that comes to pass.
  17. Name: Mark Height: 5' 10'. Weight: 225 lbs. Age: 29 Occupation: Analyst Education: Bachelors Location: Sacramento, CA Picture with some friends at SDCC 2003 (I'm the guy in the middle all in black)
  18. From what I remember from the old MW forum, people did show pictures from SDCC 2003. I saw the samples myself at the convention and they were all right. Figures.com has descent selection fromt the Toynami display Figures.com Toynami Robotech display from SDCC 2003 Here is a larger SDCC 2003 picture from aftimes.com that shows the other Alpha heads (green, red and shadow) along with the painted pilot and cyclone.

    Meeting with yamato

Graham, thanks for reporting what you can. In light of your recent troubles and to maintain your relationship with the folks over at Yamato, I am glad that you can give us any details about upcoming products. Personally, I look forward to when you are allowed to give out details about Macross Zero products .
  20. 1/72 = 4 1/60 = 6 1/48 = 0 (hoping to change that soon)
  21. Greetings, my thanks to Shawn and Graham for setting up a fine board to discuss anything Macross-related. I have been a lurker for a few years and when the reboard restarted, I thought to hop on. I can say without a doubt, this is my one stop area for all Macross data. I have enjoyed Macross and Valkyries ever since I saw R**** (yeah, I know it's sore topic on this board) and I owned a Hasbro Jetfire as a child (my younger brother owns the old Hikaru VF-1S strike valkyrie). Currently, I enjoy Macross Plus, but I really like what I see coming out for the Macorss Zero OAV. Look forward to sharing and learning a lot from this board.
