I second this!

If I remember SDF:M correctly, the three spies (AKA Lolicon) not only were aware of Miriya, but knew of her battle performance. If memory serves, they were in awe of meeting her, but also afraid of getting their a$$e$ kicked.

Some more random observations on M7's expense: It's a long series. Wouldn't that add to the price? It features music from preceeding and concurrently released Macross series. The royalties (if that is indeed in effect) would be for ALL of the music featured, right?

The same thing happens on my PC if I reduce the horizontal width of the screen to less than the width of the MW Forums banner (the elbow of the SDF-1.) Using Firefox 3.0.5 if that helps.

You guys are talking about the TV series, right? Character Design: Shunji Suzuki Yoshiyuki Sadamoto (you know, the character designer for Evangelion.) See http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=48 for further details -

Nope. That's when the Plaza Accord took effect, and the bubble economy started. The burst started in 1990. And that plot of land ain't small (unless if you consider NY's central park small). It was also only valued at more than all the real estate of California, at the time.

seconded. Just picked them up. The large-scale size of the images beats any other reproduction (DVD/BD booklet, Charaberries, etc.). It is a shame that there isn't more mecha, nor notes on/about the mecha like Kawamori-san has done with the VF lineart. A shame, as there's little other info on the ships. For example, the Galaxy fleet ship is simple "Galaxy Ship: Carrier" and the Vajra one is "Vajra Carrier Modeling".

The worst thing is the clauses. Where does one end and another begin? How do you translate the nested clauses into English that is (easily) understandable?

In Japan? Naa. There's some interesting shows on at that time. I'd go so far as to say that the 24:00 to 02:00 time period is the breeding ground for prime time (09:00 to 24:00) shows. Though, I watch AXN, as they've got a great line-up from 01:00 ("The Shield", "CSI", "CSI: Miami"). -
Without looking at the text, it could mean: "The rear parts of the gun's armour plate body has an unfolding structure [to increase the] firing speed." Which could be in reference to parts of the gun opening up when it's fired. Again, without looking at the text, it could mean: "Both of the arms are equipped with a [gun pod] mount, and are positioned ventrally, between-the-engine-nacelles, in fighter mode." The tech stuff is full of those nested sentences... I recommend getting a quickie translation from http://tool.nifty.com/globalgate/ and working off of that.

Me dislike katakana as well. There are many a word that I write using the "correct" English pronunciation in katakana, and nobody understands. When they show me the "correct" way it's written, it doesn't sound like any of the various ways to pronounce and English word. >.<

Gun pod section looks good. Though, the common romanization of the manufacturer (?) is Howard: http://macross.anime.net/wiki/VF-25#Standard_armament

You're not helping. -
Someone has made a (partial) list of the vehicles either seen in M0 & SDF:M or could be in SWI. The lists also include fictional vehicles seen in the various Macross animations: http://unsd.macrossroleplay.org/stats_aircraft.php http://unsd.macrossroleplay.org/stats_navy.php http://unsd.macrossroleplay.org/stats_ground.php As for kit bashing - keep in mind that the world in Macross differes greatly the moment that the ASS-1 appears. Everything developed after that, in the real world, does not exist (or exists but is changed somehow by OTEC, unification, the UN Wars, threat of giant aliens, etc.).

Not to take away from the rest of the arguement, but how is Macross F a children's show? Even the time slot it was broadcast in (1:25 to 1:55 in the morning) indicates that it's demographic is not children. -
Knew where the comment was coming from. And if you're allowed to say nothing of consequence, I'm allowed to lament about the backlog of translation notes.

Sweet. I like the first shot. It gives the Megaroad a sleekness that hasn't been apparent until now. Good stuff.

Everyone jumping off of a bridge to probable death, doesn't mean that you are going to do it, right? Same holds true for Kawamori-san. Also, the comparisons are incorrect. Did the director of the remake of "the day the Earth stood still" have anything to do with "Neon Genisis Evangalion"? Was Kawamori's vision of Macross II butchered by studio execs like THX was for it's original release? I think not. You do realize that everything herein is written, right? Even with emoticons, all implications that a statement is a joke is lost.* Next time, try adding [joke][/joke] tags. *It's best to keep in mind that the readers of MW come from all over the world; with different backgrounds, experiences, and perceptions of what is, or is not funny.

trust me, it says that. (looks forlornly at the pile of Macross Chronicle translation notes).

Where is this fallacy coming from? Why don't you come and see what it's really like here. Good summary. -
Not unless the mystery VF is based off of the VF-14. VF-1 -> VF-X-4 -> VF-4 -> VF-14 (-> Fz-109)
-
Some more numbers from Model Graphix 291, page 25 VF-4 Lightning III First third is pretty much the same as http://macross.anime.net/wiki/VF-X-3#Program Middle third is re the VF-X-4. In short: "VFX-4V1, non-transformable prototype with 80% parts coming from the VF-1. Subsequent VF-X-4, pictured in fighter and gerwalk modes, with battroid mode being a possibility, had just less than 60% of there parts coming from the VF-1." Last third is nothing new (recap of the VF-4's first deployment). Based on that, I'm of the opinion that this http://www.robotechresearch.com/rpg/mecha/...ning/vf-x-3.jpg is the VFX-4V1.

In a way it makes sense. Big West says, "hey, we got a bunch of dusty boxes with Macross II videos and laser discs in them. Plug 'em in the next series, please. Pretty please!"
