No. I was referring to his misunderstanding that the entire rest of the world is pacifist and communist, when it's not.

I *love* it when people make gross errors like this. The brotherhood of non-metric using nations are Burma (Myanmar), Liberia and the United States of America. Ask yourself if that group of 'real men' is a healthy group to be part of.

I get: Variable Fighter & the Variable Craft group of mission specialized specification. Could it also be about the Variable Patrol craft in M7? Anyhow, the MF site's news has an image of the VF-5000 sheet: it's transformation.

Who said that it's a good arguement? It's the arguement used in the series to explain the development of the VF-1. From the events of SDFM, we already know that some of the "won" arguements by the UN [united] Government didn't pan out, either. (The Grand Canons for starters). The other thing we have to be careful of is, is viewing the technology in an "after the fact" manner. No one will debate the effectiveness of the developed equipment post SWI. However, pre-SWI, there was little to no evidence of the war making capabilities of the enemy small craft and personnel/infantry. The other angle to look at is that the majority of the equipment fielded by the UN Forces in SDFM were never considered to be the ideal solution. They were the solutions that the limits of humanity's understanding of OTEC allowed the UN Forces to produce at the time. The concurrently (to the VF-1) developed VF-X-2 is a good example. So, too are the VF-X-3 and VF-X-4 that started design and prototyping long before the VF-1 started mass production, let alone had a completed design.

I think someone's changed the title of this topic - completely dropping Macross Chronicle. Can a mod add it to either the main title, or the sub-description? Anyhow, finished the translation of the VF-5000 in TiAS:M+: http://www.macrossroleplay.org/forums/inde...g33504#msg33504 Next project: Macross Chronicle's VF-5000.

Macross F @ Tokyo International Anime Fair 2010
sketchley replied to Tochiro's topic in Movies and TV Series
There's a magazine or a book on the shelves right now that has a section related to this. It's about the places he went to in preparation for MF. Can't remember the name of it... but it wasn't sealed in plastic by the store to stop tachiyomi... It's in Macross Ace #004. -
There is at least one set - in the Macross Hobby Handbook. Not sure if others have made any...

03.25 21:30~23:00 inaccessible. >.<
-
There you go reading too much into things, again. It takes place outside of the events of the TV series, yet it is still part of the canon TV series. Period. End of story. The character sheets related to the episode in Macross Chronicle counter any opinions otherwise.
-
Agreed. All the extra report has implied is that the episode's event takes place outside of the TV series' events. Which isn't really new information...

03.24 21:00~?? JST MW unaccessable. Currently (03.25 01:41) accessible.

I believe that the singing from a black hole is an internet myth. The "real" story: Singing was heard from the centre of the galaxy. The Megaroad-01 went to investigate. Megaroad-01 and the main cast of SDFM, DYRL and FB2012 written out of Macross. Later, in the real world, scientists develop a theory that there is at least one, if not several large black holes at the centre of every galaxy. Fans, having read the scientists, overlay reality onto the Macropss story. Ergo: singing coming from a black hole at the center of the galaxy. Other fans misinterpret that as singing coming from a black hole and the Megaroad-01 got sucked into it. Macross Chronicles has a line about it: the Megaroad-01 disappeared. That's it! How, where, by what means, etc., etc., are not answered, let alone even addressed.
-
I second this. This past weekend I read a news article about how scientists have managed to make a 3-D object invisible to the human eye. Sure, it was only a nanometre or two wide dimple in a surface. Nevertheless, it proves the underlying principle that invisibility fields/cloaks are possible (at present, to the human eye).

It's the same book - the "old" link is of the dust cover, the "new" link is of the actual cover.

Technically, the VF-14 survived and was able to compete with the VF-11. And let's not forget M+, either. Or by recurring, you mean only with some VF competitions, not all? Anyhow, what I found the most interesting with the TiAS:M+ book, is that the start on the successor of the VF-1/2 started long before the VF-1/2 had a completed prototype! In other words: the technology was already deemed limited (or dare I say, dated) long before it reached production! (By VF-1/2, I mean the VF-1, and the VF-2 that would have resulted if the VF-X-2 had reached production).
-
Finished the translation of the VF-4 in TiAS:M+: http://www.macrossroleplay.org/forums/inde...g33503#msg33503 It's an interesting compliment and contrast to the Macross Chronicle article. The subsection on the implementation of thermonuclear reaction engines is also interesting. In effect, ALL flying craft with these engines have theoretically unlimited cruising range within an atmosphere! Glad that that was cleared up, as something similar had me raising my eyebrow in the VF stats in a Great Mechanics.DX article: http://www.macrossroleplay.org/forums/inde...g35718#msg35718 (scroll down to the page 094 section). And in further VF-4 translations: just eyeballing the two relevant paragraphs in the "Variable Fighter Master File VF-1 Valkyrie", it looks like that book claims that only the VF-4G can transform to GERWALK and battroid modes! Talk about throwing that books credibility down even further.

I figured it was based on a multitude of similar vehicles. Mainly: the LAV III - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LAV_III the Stryker - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stryker the Mobile Gun System - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mobile_Gun_System I'm sure there's more.
-
They could also be composed of the same stuff as the variable shape wings of the YF-21.

The link off of his homepage is to here: http://hobby.dengeki.com/books/1003tenjin.html And it states that there'll only be 10 Macross related pieces. Given the handful seen so far, it looks like Hasegawa box art and Macross Ace Frontier related art only.

Arrgh! Still happening. 21:00 to 23:00 (thereabouts) tonight. And even then, it's taking a rediculously long time to load pages. >.<

About the Macross Chronicles
sketchley replied to Isamu test pilot's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
#44 contents review Mechanic MII UN 03a VA-1SS Metal Siren: Hidetaka Tenjin panting! Transformation, different modes, etc. Extra report on the Proto-Metal Siren. M0 UN 06a: ADR-03-MkIII: sweet. Nice to get hard stats on it. Sadly, the RIM-116 4-tube missile launchers are only shown in screen grabs. >.< Nice that they point out the groin 7.6 mm machine gun turret. SDFM UN 04D: VF-1A: Angle Birds, VF-1 cockpit/controls, and 2/3 of the reverse is an extra report on the VF-X and VF-X-4 for the win! M7 UN 02C: VF-19Kai "Nekki Basara Special": details on the head, hands/fingers, battroid rear hatch, landing gear and internal missile launchers. Transformation system (brief). Speaker units, and the Speaker Gunpod γ (Gamma). Along with the VF-1 "FAST packs". D7 Cit 02a: Catcher Boat: Graham's catcher boat and rocket sled. Interesting stuff. Alas, slim on the hard stats. Extra sheet: Game & Advanced Valkyrie 1: VF-9 Cutlass. Finally, hard stats! Gun pod, lasers, in detail, along with the standard fighter/GERWALK/battroid and transformation sequence. Looking at the page, I think the #2 sheet will be the VF-3000. Anyhow, extra report on the prototype VF-X-10. Characters: MII UN 01B: Shirubi Jiina. Extra report on Wendy Rider?! M7 Barauta 03A: Shibiru D7 Cit 01a: Nekki Basara Timeline #52: ends on the fold bomb (wait... Vajra attack on the fleet, the assassination of President Glass AND the death of Michael in one entry?! Rushing, aren't we?) Extra reports on Ozuma's pine-cake and Michael and Kuran's relationship. History: SDFM 17a: Factory Retrieval op. Interesting. Worldguide: 21a: Various planets: most of the coverage is of Zola (complete with Zolan script, for the win! If you're curious, it's like Japanese, as in a single letter is a consonant + vowel cluster). Some lineart of Zola from orbit, as well as some of the notable locations and lifeforms. The last 1/4 of the page is on Rakusu (Rax), Garia 4, the Vajra homeworld, and the mining planet from the M7 movie. Glossary 22: notable content: Global!, Herakuresu (MII), Henry Gilliam (MF), Powan Howan (MDM VF-X). Goods: 50 cm Rin Minmei. Is it just me, or does her face look more like the VA's then the illustration? Next issue preview: VF-1D painting, Ghost X-9 and Zentraadi Heavy Attack craft screen grabs. -
