  1. Completed: Technology: 01b Destroid http://www.macrossroleplay.org/forums/inde...g36798#msg36798 I was mostly interested in the reverse of the page (and I believe the people discussing Destroids in the Destroid thread will find some things enlightening). But I was quite surprised by the content of the front. Not only is there Destroid development history, but there is an open acknowledgement of the change of canon history, AND two (2) of heretofore unknown Anti-UN Alliance Destroids! Sadly, I don't think we'll be getting any more info, let alone pictures of those to AUA Destroids. It also looks like the Earth Trekkers have been written out. I have mixed feelings about their loss. But in a way it's good, as the development of the ETs started pre-ASS-1 crash. So, their removal means that the world up until the crash of the ASS-1 is much more similar to our Earth. Simplicity is good! Now this page has got me interested in translating the VF-0/VF-1 development history page... argh, as I want to do the game VF extra sheets... and also have to finish the VF-171EX... time, got time? Need time. T.T
  2. See: http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?...st&p=827138 and: http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?...st&p=827163
  3. Very funny. Didn't get it until the last line.
  4. Erm... BadTroll, not sure if that response is supposed to be for this thread. Maybe it's related to Gubaba's post in another thread being meant for an entirely different. Perhaps related to the MW service issues that other people have been mentioning of late?
  5. What are we talking about? Isn't the topic the Cheyenne II?
  6. Actually... only the legs are the same (even then, the Cheyenne II comes across as having more stylized legs). The rest? It would require new modelling (hip machine gun is reversed, torso is different, head different, radar pod different, shoulders different, forearms different, etc., etc.) The "reusing a CG model" arguement holds as much water as the VF-25 and the VF-27 being the same - as they also share the same transformation, and torso/hip area.
  7. Ah, but are their respective timelines applicable to the Destroids and Variable Fighters under discussion? There's no doubt that Misty Klaus is a capable pilot in her respective timeline, but is she equally capable in Aegis Focker's timeline? Are either as capable in the M0 or MF timelines?
  8. I heard from a student today that he had spotted the Pachinko game in a Round One amusement centre in Osaka (presumably one of them between Osaka and Kyoto cities). He thinks it cost ¥100 per play; and there were Macross related prizes. It might be worthwhile to check out Round One for the game in other areas.
  9. Dug through the HD, and found the piccies of the 3rd postcard set. Apologies for the window glare. CD to right for scale.
  10. That's not the content of #42 (see Gubaba's post at the end of the preceeding page). Maybe #43. Anyhow, I fiddled with the organization of the sheets in the binders, and came up with the following, which distributes sheets relatively evenly: Binder 1: Mechanic (M0 to D7) + Extra Sheet Game and Advance Valkyrie (it's a shame to relegate them to the fifth binder. Put 'em where they appear, production chronologically wise) Binder 2: Mechanic (MF to MII), Character sheet (M0 to M7) Binder 3: Character sheet (M7G, MF, SDFM, MII), Timeline Binder 4 & 5 per publisher's recommendation.
  11. 3rd? Don't you mean the 4th set? (I received the 3rd a couple of months ago (picts in HD. Haven't found the time when I remember about them to find them, and post them herein) Anyhow, the deadline for the 4th is rapidly approaching...
  12. Back cover: 5th binder info: "For all 50 issues" followed by, in small letters "planned". Could we get more than 50??? Organization: Binder 1: Mechanic (M0 to D7) Binder 2: Mechanic (MF to MII), Character sheet (first half) Binder 3: Character sheet (last half), Timeline Binder 4: History, Technology, Worldguide, Glossary Binder 5: Gallery, Song, Goods, Making, Extra.
  13. Contents review #41: Mechanic: M0 UN 03a: VF-0D: is it just me, or do some of the perspective angles on Hidetaka Tenjin's painting look off? Moving on... great to see pencil lineart of the cockpit AND the HOTAS. WOOT, for the win! Extra report on the differences between the VF-0. Interestingly, there's a VF-0C mentioned. M7 UN 08b: VF-19: front is the aerospace boosters (booster units and engine nacelle armament containers - aka multi-weapon bays). Reverse is the F model. M7 UN 01c: Macross 7: front is the conjoined ship and data, reverse is schematic views of the conjoined ship, and 1/3 on the City 7. MF Etc 01a: Vajra. Major, ultimate disappointment. ALL Vajra from the MF series on one page. !!! And no data That's Vajra Queen, Vajra Semi-Queen, Vajra (large), Vajra (small), Vajra carriers (only highlight of the page, confirms that the small one is the "Knight class" battleship, and the large one is the "Bishop class mobile fortress"), and Ai-kun. T.T Hopefully there'll be a worldguide sheet with more info. Characters: M0 Cit 02a: Mao Nome: w/ extra report on the MF appearance. M7 Cit 05a: Miria Fariina Jiinasu M7 Cit 07a: City 7 Citizens: Hojo Akiko and Michael Johnson. Timeline #49: up to "the panty episode". Extra reports on the Macross Galaxy Fleet and Mihoshi Academy. History: MF 08a: only comment that comes to mind is that the action-movement graph has the most number of icons seen to date. Worldguide 04b: Zentraadi. I wasn't expecting much of this, and was pleasantly surprised. Zentraadi language! Glossary, letters, and hand-written Zentraadi letters for the win. There's also a small section on Zentraadi pronunciation inflections. Interesting, interesting. (For those that don't, it implies that Zentraadi is a tonal language. Like Chinese. Same word pronounced a different way means something different). Technology 01D: Variable fighter. I didn't know what to expect of this, and was surprised that it's about one of the things I predicted: Valkyrie missiles! WOOT! Two pages!! For the win! Missiles are roughly broken down into micro-missile, large missile, and reaction/dimension eater missile, and external (missile hardpoints, missile pods) and internal (internal micro missile launchers and multi-weapon bays - intersting thing is that they use a VF-11 to illustrate this last one!) There are extra reports on ship missiles, unmanned aircraft missiles and launchers (Ghost X-9 and QF-2001), and Armour and Super packs. Reverse of 2nd page has another kick-ass Tomotake Kinoshita painting of Spartans unleashing the Itano Circus on attacking Zentraadi. Content of the reverse is destroid missiles. This page, alone, makes this issue a must have. Glossary: 2 sheets, #18 and #19. Noteable content: Battle 13 (VF-X2), Variable Gluag (M3), Violetta (VF-X), Pink Pecker (M7), Vinderance (VF-X2), and the start of the VFs. Note on the VFs: it's by Japanese phonetic reading. It looks like they're using the English reading of the numbers, organized via Japanese phonetic readings. #19 has (in this order): VE-1, VA-3M, VA-3C Kai, VA-1SS, VF-X, VF-5000, VF-5000B. Extra Sheet: Game and Advanced Valkyrie #4: Front 2/3: VF-14 Vampire (data, big juicy images), and Neo-Gluag. Reverse is both variants of the Variable Gluag (alas, no stats for any of the Gluag variants >.< ) Front has an extra report on the Dancing Skulls. Next issue preview: since it's already posted, I'll focus on the art: sw-eeeet Nousjadel-Ger painting. Kamjin (SDFM), black SV-51 (will they cover the option packs and Daisy Cutter bombs this time???) and Mylene Jiinus (I can't place the image. It could be from any part of M7.)
  14. I think it *may* have been used elsewhere. It comes from "(honourific) resident". So, it's bound to have croped up in formal speech somewhere, sometime before SDFM. Though, SDFM gets the credit (or the blame?) for perverting the term into a derogatory one...
  15. Apples and oranges. The M4 being updated and upgraded into a MI holds a lot more water then you're giving it credit for. For starters, it's Macross canon (Macross Chronicle, Technology sheet 2B). Secondly, it's not pre-SWI technology being utilized, but the technology available in the 2050's. Lastly, the Cheyenne II was developed and is primarily used by the NUNS of the Macross Frontier fleet. SMS uses it simply because it's cost-effective, and as their ship, the Macross Quarter, was built by the Macross Frontier fleet, it makes sense that the designers of the ship would implement what's standard on the emigration fleet. Not to mention that a) we don't ever see SMS use the Cheyenne II in a ground combat role (that's the NUNS doing it), and b) the SMS are only ever seen using the Cheyenne II in an air defense role...
  16. This reminded me of something: the last time I was in Kawaramachi (that's Kyoto, for those that don't), I overheard a Macross Frontier song being played from one of those UFO catcher games - that had nothing to do with Macross! Anyhow, Gubaba, you forgot about the promogulation of the use of "otaku" to define anime fans (which eventually morphed into a derogatory term, but that's another story). Itano Circus (which doesn't necessarily originate in Macross) > otaku > Carrot Loves You Yeah!
  17. First: Seto, why so bitter? Something is better than nothing. Prolly MII content. Didn't see it coming, but not entirely unexpected. Hopefully it'll elaborate on the "branches throughout emigration fleets" mentioned in the timeline's extra report. (last part of this post: http://www.macrossroleplay.org/forums/inde...g36698#msg36698 ) Wait a second... this is a whole sheet for the VF's between 3 and 4?!? How much space are they devoting per VF? Or is there a slew of unknown VF's between these two? Or, are they spending so much space on them, because they, and the VF-3000B won't appear in the mechanic section, and are making up for it???
  18. Heh... it's been almost a year since I last posted in this topic.
  19. I've started typing out the translation of the section(s) that I translated way back when. Digging through the book once more, I've gone and gotten excited about translating other sections of the book. I think it has something to do with the impression of it containing text for lineart that has been published elsewhere, hasn't been published elsewhere with text nor combined with other things in context. Anyhow, linky: http://www.macrossroleplay.org/forums/inde...g30476#msg30476 http://www.macrossroleplay.org/forums/inde...g37004#msg37004 (this is the stuff that I'm getting interested in. Also contains the translation of the Macross Quarter ARMD-L hangar.) http://www.macrossroleplay.org/forums/inde...g37007#msg37007 (Glossary section, work in progress) So far, I'm surprised to see that Pash! got a) Island 11 (the "fishing" one), and b) that City Frontier is a multi-layered multi-leveled ship (yes, had to clarify with the wife, as I thought it was a typo!) I'm not sure if other publications also state that City Frontier is a "multi-layered multi-leveled" ship, but I find it noteworthy, as I was under the impression that the multi-layered multi-level aspect of City Frontier was a new element introduced in the MF movie (the location of Deep Akiba in the movie gives the impression that there are at least two levels (each with dense urban development) below the layer exposed in the dome. I also find the stratification of society eyebrow raising (I thought the UN/NUN was more egalitarian), and I'm sure a lot of you will appreciate the clarification of what language is spoken in the Frontier Fleet, as well as what currency.
  20. Looks accurate, except for the following: Which has already been addressed earlier (VF-X2 is a symptom, not the cause of the change).
  21. Episode 30 takes place in 2011, October. Just over a year after the establishment of the new UN Spacy in 2010, April. Also, in researching the answer, I noticed that the Macross Compendium has an uncapitalized "new": http://macross.anime.net/wiki/2010
  22. I'll second that. TPM recaptures the feelings felt when watching the original 3: it's fun. And it's topped off with an actual, real sword fight (sure they painted neon over the weapons, but whatever). You know, the type where you blink and you miss something important. Anyhow, the weakest part of TPM is that it has too much exposition. AotC makes up for it, by putting that exposition to good use, and steadily builds up to a climax. RotS, on the other hand, is quite anti-climactic. I understand how to make it fit into the greater storyline certain events must come to pass. Nevertheless, with the largest action sequence at the start of the movie... and the climactic sword battle two-thirds of the way through... (yes, yes, I know they were going for the artistry of mirroring RofJ. Nevertheless...) EDIT: funny thing about TPM is that amongst non-ST fans, it's the one they like the most. Call it the cute kid factor.
  23. Completed: Mechanic: M7 UN 14a Macross 5 Fleet http://www.macrossroleplay.org/forums/inde...g36990#msg36990 Long story short, yes, the article states that there are several/more than one ship of the same type as the Macross 5 in the Macross 5 fleet. It's not any more specific than that. What was the max seen in any one shot? 3?
  24. Yes (and I'm happy that another person in MW watched it!) I found the antics of the cast quite eye opening (after shooting the scene, badgering Lucas if he got the shot). I especially found Harrison Ford's comments enlightening - from a writer's point of view. Carrie Fisher sums it up susinctly, but Harrison Ford says it in a way that had me wondering how the comments made it onto the DVD!
  25. Well... if you put it that way... ... then yes, he came up with all the good ideas, and filmed them quite decently. He just needed someone else to trim it down to something fun.
