I believe it's 100% of the dialogue is redone. It's called ADR. The main reason being because of all the sounds on set, it's nigh impossible to clearly record the actors voices. Though, SWIV does have the fun story of being total crap until they hired the editor and focused things down to what we know it as. In short, a lot of long-windedness was cut out, and some shots were expanded right up to the point just after the director yelled cut and the camera stopped (Obi-wan after cutting off the hand in the bar). Another scene that comes to mind is the one of the sand-person raising and lowering his weapon after knocking Luke unconcious. That particular shot was played forward and reverse to get the repeated arm raising. So yeah, SWIV was originally a totally different thing, and we have to thank the editor for making it into the excellent piece of film that it became.

All time favourite game... and there's a list? Anyhow, my all-time favourite game is: Sim City 4 Why? The freedom of it. No time limits. Goals and objectives to your own making. You can blow up your city real good if you don't like it. And the ability to import new terrain for new city regions. I think my only complaints are the lack of curved bridges and the ability to build under the parts of the bridges that cross land. Which is relatively minor.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aliens/Predat..._of_the_Species See my earlier posts in this thread. Hate having to repeat self...
-
This brings up a good point - all references of the government in 2010 April, are new. However, before and after (not including MF), there's no new.
-
The comic "Aliens vs Predator: Deadliest of the Species" has set a precedent: female predators look virtually indestinguishable from the males! Nevertheless, elements of Predator 2, AvP and AvP:R are interesting. However, on the whole, they don't quite hold up. It's a shame really... Now, I just hope that they will stop "detailing up" the Predator helmet/mask. Simple is best!

Quickly glanced through the VF-X and VF-X2 books. They both side step the issue by either refering to it as the Macross Government (マクロス政府), or the Space Forces (宇宙軍)! And I forgot this: the other indicator for the big N little n, is the lack of an N when UN Spacy or UN (whatever) is written, on screen.
-
By later works, I was meaning those that come later in the in-universe timeline. M7 and M+ are the two that come to mind. For example: TiAS:M+ pg 06 "統合宇宙軍" TiAS:M7 pg 03 "新統合政府" (line being used to indicate the creation of the government in 2010.03.) pg 28 "総合宇宙軍" (in reference to Gamlin. It's an interesting typo (not the first in the TiAS Macross related books from the mid '90's). Pg 40 "統合軍" (in reference to the Fz-109 being based off of the UN forces' VF-14). Pg 42 "統合宇宙軍" (in reference to the VF-11C). Nevertheless, are their any points in either series where 新統合 is used?

Special forces in the Macross universe
sketchley replied to Macross007's topic in Movies and TV Series
Uhm... 1) my name is Sketchley. 2) don't repost the content. A link will suffice. (Mods, can you erase the copied content? Main reason being if the content is revised to a better translation) Thank you. -
Completed the front half of Timeline #47 (the part that takes place between M7D and MF, and has VF-X2 and other post M7 game info): http://www.macrossroleplay.org/forums/inde...g36698#msg36698 Sadly, the stuff on the games is disappointingly limited. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the stuff on the 117th Research Fleet. Sooner or later, I intend to hammer out some more translations of the timeline sheets (right now, my sights are set on the latest Destroid Technology Sheet). Though when I do, my targets are the extra reports and content between the various productions (yes Azrael, the section on the development of the VF-1 is on the list. Not sure when I'll get to it, as some of the extra reports look a lot more juicy).

From what I understand from the game (wasn't really paying too much attention to the story at that point...), yes, a Mobile Fortress (and Main Fleet?) came to Earth (or was en route). The MC timeline isn't clear if it was, or was not a contributing factor. In fact, MC is more interested in the Milky Dolls part of that game :!:

It looks like a stylized "U", with the two arms crossing each other, like they are unified or helping each other. Hmmm... isn't the correct term for it "New Unity Government (新統合政府)". Hmm...

About the Macross Chronicles
sketchley replied to Isamu test pilot's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Different companies. I believe it's ウィ-ブ that's putting out Macross Chronicle. The good thing about the "Eva Chronicles" is that I didn't collect it the first time. It's also very nice to see very nice looking binders for a low cost. (The 2nd and 3rd binders are either ¥990 for the pair if you preorder/mail order, or ¥1,770 for the set; with the 4th binder being a "present".) Anyhow, must... find... time... to... translate... MC... -
I think the Marines being totally unprepared for the situation is the point. First, it's to highlight Lt. Gorman's inexperience. Second, it's the whole Vietnam-in-Space angle of the movie. I don't think it's a case of Cameron and Stone havine an incomplete understanding of military professionalism, but a complete understanding of the situation that occured in the Second Indochina War (AKA the Vietnam War for you Americans) to the American soldiers sent to it. I'd go with this. Paul Buchman... erm, Burke wanted the aliens for profit. So, it makes sense that the incompetent would serve his ulterior motive well. Sounds like the service men who went to 'Nam for the drug trade, eh? Anyhow... the last "Predator" movie that I saw sucked so badly that I've been turned off of them. Yup, AvP2 is THAT bad. It's a total shame that they didn't just reproduce the original "Aliens vs. Predator" comic by Dark Horse. T.T

This is a good point. Especially about the movie "Alien". Originally, I thought it was about the create. However, after seeing the director's cut, and reading some reviews of it, I've understood that it also means the ship is alien to humans, and the humans are alien to each other. It's quite deep. Of course, that's not to say "Aliens" isn't. The whole "Vietnam War in Space" angle adds a whole new dimension to the film.

Wear glasses. Hate the idea of having to wear a second pair overtop. Even if they fit (which those one-size-fit-all types usually don't) then the field of view is restricted as the 3D lens are further away. IMHO 3D reality should just be left where it is (reality), and movies should remain the 2D escapes from reality that they are. At the very least, the removal of 3D will REDUCE ticket prices. How many of you appreciate the added ticket costs for 3D?

This is a very interesting observation. It makes me think that there's much, much more going on in M7 than what the narrative presents.

I read what was written: an implication and assumption of something that's not historically accurate.

Erm, you'll need to research your Japanese history, as well, sir. A) It's part of the constitution (article 9) B) the US essentially forced the constitution on the Japanese (therefore, the legal aspects of the "anti-militarization beliefs" are fundementally alien) C) the SDF is a transformed and expanded National Police Reserve (the creation of which, and subsequent transformation and expansion being prompted by the US) Nevertheless, Macross is made in Japan, and it makes sense that agencies in Macross are based on those most familiar (Japanese agencies). It also looks like the latest incarnation of the UN Government in MF is even more like Japan, than preceeding incarnations (sans DYRL, as that's a movie within a movie).

About the Macross Chronicles

Deagostini has started releasing a (weekly) "Evangelion Chronicle". First issue with binder is ¥390. It's much cooler looking than the そーなんだ! binder, plus it's the right way for Macross Chronicle content. Anyhow, no, Eva Chronicle doesn't give any meaningful stats for the EVA-01 (alas, no height), but it does have a list of all the pages and contents of the pages for the entire print run (4 binders)! Why couldn't Macross Chronicle have this?!?!? If you're a fan of Tomotake Kinoshita, he's got some art in it. -
But why the US military? Macross is a Japanese production, so wouldn't the Self-Defence Forces make a better real-world example? Seto's done a good job of summing up why they are missing from certain Macross productions, and appear in others. Nevertheless, Macross Chronicle has confirmed that Destroid usage has continued in the greater Macross universe. But that usage is limited to multi-purpose destroids continuing to be developed from the 03 series (Cheyenne, Cheyenne II).

About the Macross Chronicles

The Vajra page reminds me of something I was thinking about a while back: I've gotten the impression that the publisher of Macross Chronicle is contractually obliged to limit the amount of MF content they publish; so as to allow other publishers the chance to sell books. -

Unknown. When it's translated, we'll know. (If you're asking me to do it; then yes, it's on the list. No, it won't be translated for anywhere from 3 to 6 months. It's a long list.) -

Updated the forecasts of the remaining content: http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?...st&p=822292 http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?...st&p=822313 How many of you are going to file the extra sheet about the games mecha in the mechanic section? Personally I think its rediculous to file that content seperately... -
About the Macross Chronicles
sketchley replied to Isamu test pilot's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Contents review #40 Mechanic: M7 01a: Macross 7: as expected. Interesting that it gives exact numbers of variable craft on the ship. Reverse has both modes, as well as the transformation sequence (simplified). I doubt we'll see a C sheet. M7 04b: VF-17Kai: sound booster and cockpits. Doubt there'll be a C sheet (unless if the Mega-Speaker Pod isn't covered on a C sheet for the VF-19Kai) MF 09a: MF fleet's citizen's vehicles: Ozuma's car, an announcment van, cable car, limo, a sedan, and "the car that Ranka rode in". II 05a: UN Forces Weapons: GERWALKroid (about half the content), VF-XX (about 1/4) and UN forces helicopters and an extra report on the shuttle liner. Character: M7 03A: Max: covers the entire series. Wish there was more on the VF-22 pilot's suit. Ah well... M7 04a: Exedoru: some cool rough art of him in the bridge. Otherwise... SDFM: 03B: the people inside the Macross: the mayor, Miss Macross contestants, etc.. Timeline 48: content from eps #2~4 (I think) History M 15a: interstellar wedding ceremony. Mostly on Max and Miria, but there's a juicy extrareport with all of their daughter's names. Worldguide 13b: Super Long Range Emigration Fleet: a mix of stuff. Not quite sure how to summarize it. Nothing truly remarkable or unexpected. Hopefully the text has some juicy tidbits. Worldguide 27a: Propaganda films (this issue's big question mark). The films: "Little White Dragon" (Jan. 2010), "Do you remember love?" (Feb. 2031), "the Lynn Minmei Story" (2045), "the Fire Bomber Story" (undated), "Bird Human -Tori no hito-" (Jul. 2059). The M7 content is IDed as TV. The extra reports are "propaganda ceremonies" 1 and 2. 1 is Lynn Minmei's Last Concert and the 30th Anniversary (the one from M+... can't remember the name at the mo'). 2 is the interstellar wedding (max, miria) and Reon Mishima becoming the President of the MF fleet. Technology 02b: Destroids. This one is interesting. Extra report on the "Anti-Unification Alliance's "Destroid"". Reverse has a destroid development chart (how they all fit together), as well as their use in the SDF-1 (Monster for shooting reaction warheads at capital ships, Defenders and Phalanxs for shooting down inbound craft. And the Tomahawk and Spartan for stopping enemies that breach the ship and get inside. Someone should tell the Destroid thread elsewhere in MW about this sheet. Glossary 17: High Manuever Missile and Bio-neural chips are on this page. Interesting. M+ Game Edition content: Neo-Gluag. MII: Nex Gilbert. Lost [strayed?] Zentraadi. (There's also an entry of the same name for M7). Extra sheet Game and Advanced Valkyrie 3: my big question mark. Front VF-4G, VF-5000B and VA-3M. I'm not surprised that all four get limited coverage, considering that they're all covered elsewhere (FB2012, M7D and M7D, respectively. Reverse is all the VB-6. And most of that is the transformation sequence (!). Though, that's not entirely surprising, given that the MF VB-6 sheet doesn't have it. Only the VA-3M and VB-6 have stats. Given that that was sheet 3, it makes me wonder what sheets 1, 2 and 4 are? Advance Valkyrie was that series of designs Kawamori did way back when. So that's what? All of sheets 1 and 2? Sheets 4 (+?) will be the remaining M3 content? Hopefully the Pheos Valkyrie, Neo-Gluag and so on get some space. Extra sheet Macross Crossover Live: concert stuff, with concert goods occupying the bottom 1/3 of the reverse side. There's also a set list for both concerts. The next issue promo page has art for the VF-0D, VF-19 firing missiles from it's super parts (the super part page?), Mao, and Aruto's Armoured VF-25 flying with the VF-27 in front of singing Ranka and Sheryl from the last episode of MF. I'm guessing it's for the "Vajra Homeworld Battle" history sheet. And then there's the Game and Advance Valkyrie #4 page yelling at me to speculate what the content of it is...
