I disagree with the VF-14 leg. There's nothing alike between the two. Now, if you compare the intake to a VF-0's, then you got something. The other parts look OK.

Uhm, fallicy control: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Protoculture_Addicts The mecha shows were published largely in Mecha Press: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mecha_Press One section of the writers of Mecha Press, who were only the game design studio of IANUS (PA's publisher) seperated in 1994 to form Dream Pod 9 (DP9). It is DP9 who wrote the 3 "Macross II Deck Plans" supplements for Palladium; not IANUS Publications... erm, Protoculture Inc.. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IANVS_Publications And, uhm, Protoculture Addicts' coverage of other anime shows was accurate from the start (don't know about the current state, but considering that they are conjoined with Anime News Network, it speaks volumes about their quality. And I don't mean this in a negative sense.) Without that excellent coverage, I would never have been introduced to "Ranma 1/2" nor "Nadia of the Mysterious Seas" as I was in their earlier non-Robotech issues (and I don't consider either to be a "mecha anime"). Both shows coverage... scratch that, Ranma 1/2's coverage in Animerica and the other anime related North American publications was no-where near in depth, nor enough to highlight an anime series beyond much more than being a glorified advertisement for the latest North American anime releases.

ROFLMAO!

Was RT being used as lazy shorthand from the start of robotech.com?
-
LOL! This free publicity has been going on for how long?
-
Yeah... it's down for me again. Which makes me ask: why did it start working for me again? My Japanese ISP found a ghost of it on the 'net somewhere?
-
Maybe their .com expired, and the reason why it's been down for you guys longer than me is that it's taking your ISPs longer to restore the connection?
-
Yup. Try refreshing your browser/clearing the cache.
-
... and, it's back. Apparently it was a maintenance cycle, and we caught it from the start, this time.
-
It's the parent site which is down. So, I don't think it's Mr.M who's done anything. (Drat, Seto beat me to that part) It has gone down in the past once before, for me. But it was restored within an hour or so of my checking. This time, it's been longer.

Is the Macross Mecha Manual down? http://www.new-un-spacy.com/m3.html
-
Prolly because it's the only thing that has a familiar name/topic to them. Start with the familiar... don't make it very far into the topic... give up, and assume the rest of the site is filled with the same? <shrugs> As I hate to see dreams crushed, I want to offer the following advice to the people behind that Genesis project - why not take the ideas that you have to improve upon the original (or fill in the blank spots), change them just enough to be disassociated with the original (mostly in the legal sense, but in some ways a creative sense), and start from there? If you produce what you love and get it noticed (usually by being in the right place at the right time), you're more likely to succeed in the project goals (make a movie, get a job in the industry, etc.) than by just marketing it as an extension of the original.

Up until this past week, I haven't been experiencing time-outs. This week, there was a bunch. It seems that the problem has simply shifted to a different time period...

I second that. Why not say something positive, like "I prefer the VF-() over the VF-9"?

... and finished Extra Sheet: Game and Advanced Valkyrie #3 http://www.macrossroleplay.org/forums/inde...g37165#msg37165 There are quite a few interesting tidbits of information scattered about the VB-6 section. It's a good compliment to the MF's VB-6.
-
Completed the VA-3M Invader section (same page, see post immediately preceeding this for the link) It's a good complement for the info on the VA-3 presented in the VA-3C Kai Invader Kai from D7. Though, I wish there was a little bit more on it. Sadly, the armaments appears to be directly copied from the VF-X2 publications from a decade ago. No clarification on the number of torpedoes, etc.. Now, this begs a question: will the MC produce a page on the VA-3 that appeared in the back of the TiAS:M+ book? (You know, VA-3A, VA-3B, EVA-3) Or has MC finished with the VA-3?
-
Just want to point out: The VF-1's gun pod was designed to overcome the energy conversion armour of the battlepods and other Zentraadi weapons they knew about from the crashed ASS-1. I'm pretty certain that this feature is not part of the VF-0's and Sv-51's gun pod; but it is definitely applicable to later gun pods. How they overcome energy conversion armour wasn't clarified in the source I learned that from (one of the Great Mechanics.Dx magazines, if you're wondering).

Finished the section on the VF-5000B from "Macross Plus -Game Edition-" and "Macross M3": http://www.macrossroleplay.org/forums/inde...g37165#msg37165 Again, there's not really much new. But that's not surprising, as the VF-5000 has excellent coverage already in the Mechanic D7 section.
-
I'd go with four. It conforms to a visual inspection (two engines per wing/foot assembly; one on the upper side, one on the bottom side for a total of 4).
-
I've started the Extra Sheet: Game and Advanced Valkyrie #3 http://www.macrossroleplay.org/forums/inde...g37165#msg37165 ... and completed the part on the VF-4G. It's disappointingly thin on details. Hopefully the other VFs on these pages will have more enlightening descriptions. Not to mention that I hope the VF-4 page from FB2012 has a bunch of hard stats.

Summary: get the Roman Album. If you can't, get the Fact File. 劇場版マクロス F 虚空歌姫 -イツワリノウタヒメ ガイドブック / ロマンアルバム Theatrical Macross F - the false songstress - Guide book / Roman Album Price including tax: 900円 (857円+tax) Publication date: 2009.11 Size: A4 oversized ISBN: 9784197202867 Contents summary: 01-07 movie scenes and summary (majority on first half of the movie) 08-11 Interview of Supervisor Kawamori Shouji 12-15: character design art (complete with one art typo. Someone forgot to move the masking from one of Ranka's images!) 16-25: TV series illustration gallery (from a variety of magazines) 26-38: TV series episode synopsis 39: Macross links (references to previous series in the MF TV series) 40-46: TV series character art 47-48: TV series mechanical art 49-53: history of Macross (brief synopsises of previous Macross series. Not so good for the pictures. I've looked at the other ones a bunch of times after picking them up. This one? I almost forgot about it after putting it in the bookshelf!) Part 2 to follow

There are a plethora of in-jokes in Macross. Sadly, a large chunk of them are lost in the translation to English. Two of my favourites are a play on Mitsubishi (lit. trans. "three diamonds"): - M7's Three-Star Kairetsu Factory ship (playing on the Mitsubishi Kairetsu) - MF's Itsubishi Heavy Industries (lit. trans. "five diamonds")
