  1. Makes perfect sense. (Said seriously). Though, in reading your post, I have to ask: are you a former writer of "Monty Python"? (Said unseriously).
  2. Post SWI, that was new UN Spacy. Note the lower case, denoting it as an adjective, and not part of the name. It was also used only half the time during that period, and was completely dropped by the time later productions rolled around.
  3. Those would be the weapon bays (weapon pallets I believe the term was, in regards to M+ and M7. MF has given them different names), and are seperate from micro-missile launchers. That said, micro-missile launchers tend to be put into them. The VF-171, VF-171EX, and VF-22 are good examples of weapon bays with micro-missile launchers. Other uses are the B-7 Internal Pallet (with BMM-24 High manueverability micromissiles) and the B-11A Internal pallet, with larger missiles. Either reaction missiles (M7) or missiles that launch a host of micro-missiles (M+).
  4. Oops... forgot to give my interpretation of events: The events of VF-X2 (and by extent, Digital Mission VF-X), are symptoms of what caused the change from UN to NUN, not the cause of it. Looking at the events of M7, I'd be inclined to say that the UN Forces HQ ordering the M7 fleet to sacrifice itself to the Varoota may be the actual cause of the change from UN government to NUN government, with the ensuing 5 to 10 years being transitional. Of course, looking at the history of the Super Long Range Emigration Fleets, one could suppose that a major change occured after the launch of the M7 fleet, and before the launch of the Frontier fleet. Reason being - until shortly after the launch of the M7 fleet, SLRE fleets were launched at a rate of 1 or 2 per year. This has remained consistent from the launching of the Megaroad 01 until approximately the launching of the Macross 10 (or 12). The Frontier and Galaxy fleets (along with a host of others), were all launched, or reclassified from existing fleets, within a short timeframe after the launching of the M7 fleet. (I'm defining short as less than 5 year period with approximately a 10 to 20 year period's worth of SLRE fleets). Of course, it should be noted that we don't know when the reclassification occured, if at all. We only know when the fleets were launched. Ah... muse, muse, muse.
  5. I've started spot translations of the Timeline pages of Macross Chronicle, and I've noticed a change in the use of 統合 (UN) to 新統合 (NUN) at an unexpected point. By expected, I mean post VF-X2, and pre-MF. Following numbers are the Glossary sheet number: #43 M7; 2046.01 "地球の統合軍本部の命令で、" There are other pages that mention 統合 (UN), but that is the last entry in the M7 part of the timeline that a quick scan resulted in. #46 D7; 2047 I haven't spotted 統合 (UN) on this page, which isn't surprising. Nevertheless, given that D7 occurs only a year after M7, I wouldn't hazard a guess that UN is still UN. #47 VF-X/MF; 2048 "その一方、新統合政府は" New UN government mentioned, a full 2 years before the events of VF-X2. The sentence is about the NUN government repressing the news of the Vajra attack on the 117th Survey Fleet. [same sheet]; 2050 "だがその一方では、新統合政府の" New UN government and New UN Forces (aka NUNS) appear, numerous times, in the 727th Special Duty Squadron Ravens section (the VF-X/VF-X2 section). Given this, I'm inclined to believe that the switch from UN to New UN occured in 2048, and the process of deevolution of the central governments power to the colonies and emigrant fleets was underway during 2050. I'm in the midst of translating the 727th Raven's section, but it is clear that the central government had more control over the perifery in 2050, then it does in 2059. Interesting.

  7. Interesting, Nexxstrait. Seems like Macross II isn't getting the shaft, like some people think it is. Anyhow, it's time to peer into our crystal balls, and guess at the remaining content for #40~50. 8. Does anyone know the ship types, and/or quantity in the known SLR (Super Long Range) Emigration Fleets, Research Fleets, et al, that have appear in Macross? So far, Macross Chronicle has clarified the ships and quantities for only the following: Macross 7 Fleet: http://www.macrossroleplay.org/forums/index.php?topic=1938.0 Varauta Fleet: http://www.macrossroleplay.org/forums/index.php?topic=2063.0 Macross Chronicle has also provided the rather nebulous statement that there are "more than one" (or "a plurality") of ships of the same type as the Macross 5. What about the other fleets?
  9. Macross F's (not sure at the moment about preceeding incarnations) Battle class ships apparently are composed of 6 seperate hulls; each with their own means of propulsion as well as fold drives. Therefore, it'd be possible to have a Battle class ship do the rocket punch/kick 4 times, and possibly even launch the Gun ship as a spear. And the Macross Quarter, in addition to the aforementioned shield and sabre weapons, it's also got another 4 parts/seperate-ships that can be sent off on their own. So, the potential is there. Add in their strengthened energy conversion armour and some PPBs, and they just might survive an impact (presuming that the enemy ship doesn't also have enervy conversion armour, and the ensuing explosion (as all destroyed ships go boom in anime) doesn't overwhelm the armour, energy conversion armour and PPB of the sub-ship used in the rocket punch/kick.
  10. Maybe for that show. For the rest of Macross? Haven't seen it.
  11. Erm... Environment ship. I keep reading (in Japanese) that the entire fleet is considered an ecosystem.
  12. Completed: Mechanic: DYRL UN 08a ARMD http://www.macrossroleplay.org/forums/inde...g36574#msg36574
  13. Good point. "Star Trek Nemesis" has a great illustrative sequence depicting just such an attack. It's already there. The Macross Quarter is described as having a "sabre-shaped weapon" when the PPB is expanded around the ARMD-R. If memory serves, it was used in the last episode of MF to slice a hole in the belly of the Macross Galaxy.
  14. Oops, that should've been GM.Dx 7 (not 4) It appears that the Macross Quarter has grown. I think as the size dimensions of another vessel in the same publication (I think the Environment ship) has different stats to another publication (DVD liner notes?), that it does cast the stats in this publication in a bit of doubt. Maybe we should consider them work in progress numbers? Anyhow, publication dates: GM.Dx 7: 2008.12.15 MC #33: 2009.10.29
  15. Hmmm... must remind self to create a topic about non-Macross Chronicle translations. Anyhow, Great Mechanics.DX 7: Frontier Fleet and that Military Vessel article translated: http://www.macrossroleplay.org/forums/inde...ic=2454.new#new (By that military vessel, they mean the Macross Quarter. There's bits on the escort vessels of the MF and MG fleet, but not much... wish I had the time to translate the rest of the article. Alas...
  16. Completed: Mechanic: M7 UN 07a Macross 7 Fleet http://www.macrossroleplay.org/forums/index.php?topic=2453.0
  17. For those in Japan looking for a binder to hold the next 10 issues: try the そーなんだ! (Sou nanda!) that's starting from this week by Deagostini. It's the same dimensions as the Macross Chronicle Binder, but only costs ¥190. The only issue with it is that the binder rings are reversed (it looks like the そーなんだ! is published like a normal Japanese book). Otherwise, it's a great holder that won't hurt the bank.
  18. Thanks. I'd also like to add that: - the story of VF-X2 is not military adventurism*, but a group of terrorist organizations causing a situation, and certain members of the military-industrial complex** taking advantage of it for personal gain***. - training has been simplified and unmanned craft have been used to the point that live pilots don't have the right skills to deal with military situations in 2059. That was one of the points of MF eps. 01. * The description sounds like the plot of "Patlabor II". Which is a decidedly political movie. Macross has yet to be so political. ** Used as short hand to convey the point. The military-industrial complex doesn't exist in the same sense as it does in, say, the USA of the real world. *** Sound familiar to those viewers of MF?
  19. Careful, careful. Especially with your adjectives. Until MF, it was inconsistantly called "the new UN Government" AND "the UN Government". But if you want to be really picky, it'd be "the new Unity [unified] Government" and "the Unity [unified] Government". Note capitalization and how it indicates that the adjective, new, is not part of the name. A la "the new New York". MF has consistantly and clearly identified it as "the New UN Government" (or "the New Unity [unified] Government"), along with the handy English label "NUNS" (as in "the New UN [unity, Unified] Spacy"); which is a term never used nor seen in any previous Macross. Which is what we've all been saying.
  20. Seen it. Here: http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?...st&p=817867
  21. I think it was explained somewhere, officially. If memory serves, it was a deevolution of power from the center. There weren't any big, catastrophic events; just a slow, gradual process (which is probably why Gubaba doesn't remember - as I remember him being active in the MW thread that it was posted in). Anyhow, if you want a reason, then my speculation de jour is that it was due to the necessity of command. In M7 we are presented with a distant Earth giving commands to the UNS of the fleet, without really understanding the situation. Not to mention the time delays such transmissions would incur. MF, on the other hand, has the ultimate authority of the MF fleet within itself, thereby giving greater flexibility and the ability to respond to ongoing events with all the known facts.
  22. And that adaptation has been corrected, and expanded upon over the subsequent years. Here's a collection of stats and what not that further flesh things out: http://www.macrossroleplay.org/Sketchley/Statistics.htm Stats are for the Palladium system, and are pretty much under constant revision, especially now with Macross Chronicle releasing new info biweekly... Nevertheless, the goal with them is to make them consistant with each other (see the ones marked with ©), and due to that consistancy, they should be easily converted to different game systems.
  23. Don't forget the disruption to workplace social harmony that it causes. Which is a double-edge sword - off putting to those having their arm twisted to do something that they'd rather not, and later, being put off for having freakish tastes. For the others, look up Wa on the following: http://www.communicaid.com/cross-cultural-...ial-culture.php
  24. Ah, goody. At least the designs are getting some time in the limelite. Alas... that's 3 on the front. Will the reverse be another 3? Or 4? or 5?
