Erm, armaments and endurance (we don't have definite mission duration times) aside, there is one way: Engine output & sustained G loading. VF-2SS: 25,600 kg (or 251.05 kN) x 2; 17 G (backwards movement*; used human limitations as no G load limits have been published for the airframe) VF-25: 1,620 kN (or 165,193.99 kg) x2, 27.5 G (unclear which axis of movement; most likely all, due to ISC) Clearly, the VF-2SS is outmanoeuvred and out-accelerated. * See http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/316299 for further examples (wikipedia... not... available... in... English... )

Perhaps you should make the suggestions, or better yet, incorporate your suggestions in the Macross Compendium? That site has a page dedicated to the Macross Galaxy fleet, and I'm sure that a consolidation of all that is known about the time line and fate of the fleet would be appreciated by many.

I have not stated nor indicated that the Galaxy fleet has been destroyed. Here's the line to remind you: "last seen, heavily damaged, in orbit of the Vajra Homeworld; 2059.09.02. " Was that the whole fleet? Was the emigrant ship destroyed? Only Kawamori san knows. Also, please keep in mind that I've created other resources that provide more insight into the histories of each fleet.

Because that's the way Macross works. Look at Kawamori-san's answer to fans asking about a sequel to Macross F, for example.

Prometheus - on Blu-Ray and DVD Oct. 9, 2012

I agree. Of course, the backpack thingy may be something needed to interface with the chair. It may be part of the chair, it may be a totally different suit, or it may just be a detail in the original artwork that was never used on screen. Nevertheless, whatever it turns out to be, it's still awesomeness. -
The point of that guide is to collate what little published information there is on the SLRE fleets and their last known location. I, and, to the best of my knowledge, no one else has collated a list of the fate of SLRE ships. If you wish to do so, you have my blessing. Why someone would assume that the status and location indicates the entire fleet's history has left me scratching my head in confusion; especially as status implies the last known condition or state.

Newtype Ace 2012.02: Macross F the Movie My Best Memory booklet partial translation: http://www.macrossroleplay.org/forums/index.php?topic=2846.0 The main "goal" was the VF-19 that appeared in the 2nd movie. However, that turned out to be less about the VF-19 per se, but Isamu Dyson's fate, post Macross Plus. Did some other spot translations of titles, etc., to give a sense of the content. The most interesting was Kawamori's comment on the possibility of a sequel. Also... did anyone spot Tetsuwan Atom (Mighty Atom, Astro Boy) appear in the movie???!??!??!

As I said: "Regarding Mainland 1, which is a Super Long Range Emigrant ship and not a (combat) carrier, it's fate is indicated earlier in the series, and is not present at the battle of the Vajra mother world." (and just to double-plus clarify: the linky I gave earlier is in regards to the FLEETS, not the SLRE ships)

Overall, a balanced piece with lots of places to focus on and the eye to wander around in. Pros: - excellent colouring, highlighting and shading. - you've given it a great sense of volume. - having the weight of the image off centre is good and provides a sense of movement. Cons: - lack of variation in line thickness & colouring. By this, I mean that with all the detail and colours being similar, parts of it are hard to differentiate. This applies mostly to the torso, as the backpack has excellent colour differentiation. - backpack design: despite looking dynamic, adding to the sense of motion and probably being very useful in space, combined with the pose, it looks like it's way too heavy and the mecha is stumbling forward more than running. Even without the backpack, it looks like the mecha is stumbling forward - something to do with the angle of the left foot, and the position of the right leg. - mecha design looks rather generic and like countless other ones. I realize that the piece is for marker practice (and for that, it's a stunning success). Nevertheless, with your subsequent pieces I recommend going outside the "box" and try and incorporate unique elements into the design (eg: Kawamori's decision to give a robot aircraft design features, instead of the preceding aircraft with robot features.) Recommendations: in your graphic editor of choice, erase the shadow, and put some type of a space background behind it - not a black star-scape, thought. Something that provides contrast to the dark greens and blues, like an orange/red/brown nebula or light blue planet. Hope this provides guidance and is what you were looking for.

Well, that pretty much confirms Ridley Scott's assertion that what we saw of the space jockey in "Alien" is just a suit... -
I recommend you take a closer look at the final few episodes, as there are a lot of Deneb and Dulfim class ships also seen around the Vajra planet during the battle. Regarding Mainland 1, which is a Super Long Range Emigrant ship and not a (combat) carrier, it's fate is indicated earlier in the series, and is not present at the battle of the Vajra mother world.

Here's a list of launch dates/last seen/major events that might help make sense (as always, green is official setting, light blue is extended universe, and black is none of the above): http://www.macrossro...tions.htm#slref One way to look at it is: - the fleets may not have been produced and/or launched in order (eg the 55th launches before the 47th) - fleets may have been launched by private organizations and later (perhaps after having grown to sufficient size) given a SLREF designation. - some fleets/emigrant ships were destroyed during construction (eg 24th and 25th) and the numbers were never used - at least 1 fleet (43rd) never launched as a fleet; instead remaining at it's place of construction.

... and the only reason why the VF-0 and SV-51 are so large is because they're basically test-beds of the technology in a frame that uses conventional engines; as theremonuclear ones hadn't been developed (note: added just to cover all the bases; especially to fend off size disparity questions).

... not to mention that it's a lot more difficult to sneak product placements in as a way to offset production costs and increase revenue streams.

Forum's New Cosmetic Changes
sketchley replied to frothymug's topic in MW Site News & Member Feedback
The problem with that mod icon is that it's too fast. If the frame rate is slowed down to the level of the eye-change in Exo's animated avatar, it'd be awesome. Nevertheless, something to keep in mind is that the human eye is geared toward detecting movement and the forums are primarily for displaying static content... -

Someone changed the admin icon to a moving one? Can we get one that isn't so... busy? It's a bit distracting at times. -
10th anniversary makes sense. If it's anything like the preceding issues, I highly doubt if we'll get more than a paragraph or two on any VF or fighter not in the book's title. We'll be lucky if we get some specific details on the Full Armour (looking at the VF-25 book...), and even more lucky if we get more than 10 non-fighter mode pictures. Request to the editors: brighten the images before printing! Yeah, they look great on a PC monitor... but they're dark when printed >.<

o.O As usual, GA graphic doesn't have any PR on their homepage. >.< I'm surprised that it's the VF-0 (and SV-51? wish!) I was expecting the VF-27/29, VF-11, VF-171 (in THAT order) to be first. I guess the classic VF-1 shape sells. But the question is... even with the SV-51, even with the VF-0 Kai Zeak, even with the VF-X, VF-X-1, and even with GBP-2S and the other odds and ends on the VF-1 that aren't in the 2 VF-1 books, is there enough material on the VF-0 to fill up a book?!?!?

In addition to that Macross 30th Anniversary book (what the hell does SKE48 have to do with Macross?!?), there are other goodies in the 2012.02 issue: Playback in Divas: features Rin Minmei Macross Goods Express: VF-25S renewal version, YF-19 Egg plane, upcoming Nakajima Ai & May'n albums/concerts/DVDs. Macross the First: first, the bad news: it'll take a break for vol. 06 (2012.03), but will return for vol. 07. good news: it's a one-shot side story taking place during the asteroid belt, featuring & developing the secondary characters. Macross Plus T.A.C. Name: Nyan Dora "Aruto meets sky" later half: concluding arc of the story. Not much else to say.

AKIRA LIVE ACTION MOVIE = Life Support?
sketchley replied to Macross007's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
One could argue that he's already done 3 versions... manga - serialization manga - collected version movie Would the colourized Epic translation count as a 4th version? (not the story per se; 'cuz that'll open the can of worms of all the non-Japanese, non-English translations counting as different versions.) -
Neither. The pilot is all that matters.

The picture it comes from: The text: "河森正治氏による新規描き下ろし設定 指揮官機仕様頭部" The translation: "Newly drawn configuration by Mr. Kawamori Shouji Commander craft specification head" so there you go everyone. If Yamato is really cool, they'll provide options for both a general specification and command specification heads.

It was penned by Kawamori-san himself. My guess is that it was something that he made (possibly on contract w/ SHE) and subsequently forgot about it.
