    If you do check out the series, I’d stick with the original 50-episode anime only. The sequel series (AO/Astral Ocean) devolved into garbage. And most of the movies apparently just muddy the story way too much.

    I wound up picking up one of these as a souvenir at an automotive museum: Would have preferred to get one in the Ken Miles livery. . . . And probably would’ve have gone bonkers if I found a Niki Lauda Ferrari or a Little Al Penske-Mercedes Indy car. . . . Or a Viper RT/10. . . . Or a Cobra Roadster. . . . Or a cherry red S2000. 😅

    I’m more of a Spec 2 kinda guy, but wound up seeing this for a reasonable price at an actual store: Kinda wish I had painted some of the parts before assembling the kit, but got enough workarounds in my bag of customizing tricks to make it still work.

    My son got an entry level gunpla build from a friend. Pretty impressed with the articulation and the ability to hold a pose on these so-called entry kits.

    After you mentioned it, I started noticing how overly arched the FRONT feet are on the Toyrise. Would be better if the foot laid more flat, but none of the pics seem to show that as possible. And with so much of the feet sticking out the back in fighter mode, you can expect a ton of gaps in the Tread (like the old Toynami one) and a much longer connecting boom that’s a separate attachment.

    But when you combine the Sentinel Legioss and Tread (or the Toynami Alpha and Beta), the combined fighter becomes a big bastard.

    One thing I’ve enjoyed with more recent sci-fi is how they’ve incorporated Newtonian motion into space battles. The BSG Vipers with their herky-jerky moves when they suddenly change directions with RCS thrusters. Or the ships in The Expanse flipping around halfway on their route to slow down.

    I get the price arguments. But all that extra feet in the back of the fighter mode and the tailfins sticking out are gonna cause issues, if they design a Tread to connect to it.

    There's areas that can be improved upon (the head turning to the side, a slightly wider A-stance, more knee bend, a thigh or knee swivel joint, and allowing the chest covers to drop just a smidge to not block the bottom row of missiles). But it's such a massive, revolutionary improvement over all previous Tread designs that I gotta agree with your take. This is what 15+ years of design improvements should look like (glares angrily at Bandai).
