  1. They probably kept the vf-x-7 design vague because of the heavy resemblance to the Valkyrie. If they made a big deal out of it they may draw ire from Big West for attempting to create an unlicensed Macross design.
  2. I know this isn't Reddit, but just wanted to give Gubaba an "upvote." I came around to see if anything new was going on and finding these outlines is just as good! Gubaba even added a cliffhanger....
  3. You released this on my birthday. Thank you for all that you've done for Macross! Your importance to fandom isn't easily stated...in fact I think YOU should be a featured MW Con guest and signing autographs!
  4. That was the worst scene in all of ID4. Combining it with an edited video of a psycho Basara is a sweet combination of cheese.... But I guess not everyone likes cheese....
  5. I've shared this before. But to me its just so much awesome.
  6. Thanks You! If you haven't noticed, some of us macross fans are just getting around to having children, and I always feel like there is someone saying "I want to show this to my son/daughter." I've got a 21 month old and when he is old enough I'm gonna pull this out! In this unique way I see this is an important contribution to Macross fandom. Thanks!
  7. She HAS sung DYRL in english. See here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jukG0X3SIdM
  8. If you are able to make or time simple scripts with Aegisub, you only need a few extra steps to add subs to BD. If you have questions PM me to make sure I see your question.
  9. I know i've mentioned this in a couple other threads, but here is my last "bump" on the subject. These came out on the BD box set released Feb. 2012. I can't find any translations for these, so I put them on youtube and wanted to share here in the hopes that it will generate some interest and discussion, or even found by an interested translator. I also think this has gone over the radar for most Gunbuster fans. I did have a small hope that youtube's auto-caption to Japanese then to English feature would give me a sensible script, but it's not really sensical, lol,
  10. I've been enjoying the new Gunbuster Complete Edition Blue Ray released 2-2012. It has two new science lessons, but I'm unable to find translations anywhere....
  11. The new BD complete edition has two new science lessons. They were released Feb 2012. I have them Instead of an Apple/Mac computer in the background, they have an iPad.
  12. When looking at the new completes editon BD that came out in February, I noticed that it has two new science lessons that are about five minutes a piece. After scouring the enter, I haven't been able to find much discussion about hem, much less a translation. Has anyone seen them, or better yet, a script for them? I'd love to make subtitles for these.
  13. This is available at asiandvdclub. At least three versions exist.
  14. That hand labeled VHS just brought me back.
  15. Thanks for writing this up. It's great having a Macross news page to keep us all up to date!
  16. Follow the link to the video. In the description there is a link to the entire audio of the movie for download. You can then use mkvtoolnix to mux the audio to a new movie file. www.youtube.com/watch?v=YtthuOBGUQY
  17. I never thought about it until I saw the clip, but I LMAO when Roy was getting the crap beat out of him and "Hikaru A-Chico" screams: MINMAY!!!
  18. I'm finally getting to enjoy the DYRL BD release. It got me thinking about all the various versions I've owned throughout the years. A bootleg VHS, a bootleg DVD, a nice fx bootleg DVD, an official DVD, then an HD Remaster DVD, and now Blue Ray. I'm sure many of you have a stack of DYRLs. Some of you probably an LD in that stack. An then we'll probably get the unrated DYRL edition Blue Ray, complete with decapitation and head stomping. What, you thought this was the last copy of DYRL you'd get?!?!!?? Anyway, it got me thinking about the first DYRL I had in my stack, a bootleg of the Toho dub. This was my only copy for about 5 years. I've forgotten about it for the past several years because I've had the pleasure of enjoying so many great fansub versions. Now I've gotten a little nostalgic about this horrible dub and found a great youtube clip showcasing some "best of" moments. It even has some MST3K style captions to go along with it. If it has been awhile since you reminisced about a man and a woman, micro-humans, sam-puls, and what you would like to order, check it out for some laughs.
  19. Oh Damn! Fixed! (everytime I do a subtitle project there is always something ) Got it! Adding hyphen. And your search link did work btw. Helping me at this level of detail is much appreciated. As an enthusiast I've been on the Romaji crutch for many years and working on this is helping me appreciate the necessity of learning kanji. I'll probably look over all the variations in your search link to see if I become inclined to interpret it differently. 大型 (adj-na,n,adj-no) large; large scale; big; jumbo; Super Jumbo? nah.....
  20. I've absorbed japanese purely through passive exposure, so over the years I've seen the translation "large-scale" in so many places I think I'm going to include it as a personal preference. I decided to research the 艦 character and found it to be used in numerous military connotations. I did see, as you pointed out, that it was applied to large non-combat ships, but the bulk of the examples had a military connotation. KAN-TEI, for war fleet, for example. So I've decided to use warship, but I changed its placement so the translation can read more smoothly. Sketchley and RENATO (fixed): thank you very much for helping me out! I'm a big stickler for translation detail for someone who doesn't know Japanese! I've finally gotten something that puts my mind at ease. If you feel like I've gotten anything wrong, feel free to point it out, because free lessons are awesome^^ February, 2009 A.D. On the day of the launch ceremony for mankind's first super large scale space emigrant ship, the {\i1}Macross,{\i0} a mysterious space fleet suddenly arrives and the Earth suffers catastrophic damage in an attack. Using the warship's space fold system, the {\i1}Macross {\i0}and 50,000 evacuees make an emergency jump to the orbit of Pluto. Several months have now passed. * "jump" was used to imply that they appeared at Pluto, instead of going to Pluto. Using "ship" twice in the same sentence felt redundant, so I kept "warship" and dropped the other.
  21. Well, since this is a screenshot, and not cut and paste text, putting it into google is beyond my ability, lol. I actually posted it to a "please translate this" thread on another forum, and the result was courtesy of a kind person that I don't think was a Macross fan. I'm attempting a draft script to paste into the Blue Ray, so I appreciate your help in getting this right. I'm going to use the term "Super Large Scale Space Emigration Ship" in the first paragraph. The translator's choice was an excellent westernization, but your literal translation fits in better with the terminology in translations of other Macross works. Now, I'm going to remove the "Fortress" term...but I need to figure out what word to use for 艦. "Warship" is a vastly different connotation from "Super Large Scale Space Emigration Ship." I think the SDF-1 became an emigration ship out of circumstance rather than design, so this would've been easier if the term wasn't used...
