I suspect the 35’s gun is computer-targeted, like the MiG-29’s was supposed to be. Basically, it won’t fire until you have a gun solution that’s almost guaranteed to hit. And if that’s true, a couple rounds will be all that’s needed to knock down anything that flies.

I’ve always wondered if maybe a lot of the weight penalty from VG wings might be spared if the wings could both pivot from one central fulcrum. There has always been two pivot posts, thus two points that need to be strengthened, longer control runs/hydraulic lines/etc, and so on. A single fulcrum might ease all that. Also, modern materials would help too!

I’m still interested, but now I’m looking toward the new series with trepidation rather than anticipation. -

Is orange a color used to denote test or prototype equipment in Japan’s military? Matter of fact, in Macross itself, orange was used for the Super Ostrich and the VF-1D, and for one of the Project Super Nova prototypes (think it was 06). The drones launched against Guld in Plus were orange, I recall an event in Plus as well where the X-9 went up against a formation of drone VF-11s, and they were orange. Orange might be more fitting than it may first look.

How are we sure all these are going to be their own separate purchases? Perhaps, aside from the GBP armor, it’s all one package. What did I miss?

The consensus is the mounts the fins attach to were mis-molded, the left more severely than the right.
