  1. Well I think that if your able to do some of the work that Devin used to do for us then you will definatley be kept busy. There are many many members here who would Im sure be only too pleased to to give you orders. Theres a link in Anasazi37 (Devins) signature to his catalogue (low res) that will give you some ideas. Now as your already a Macros fan you`ll undoubtably know what your looking at. There are new models out and comming up that will need the custom touch. Please post some example of your work and everyone will go from there Im sure. On a side note I was thinking about how we can rate our decals produced by us. In this I mean my decal sheet may be great as far as I`m concerned but may be utter bilge as far as other more experienced members think. We need an independant MacrossWorld Adudicator of decals. To check Quality and such for anything members are thinking of mass producing. Anyone care to further this idea I can think of a few of the really experienced model/toy customisers who could fit the bill.
  2. Ahhh!!! well that can also be worked on at some point there are enough of us here trying to take up where Devin left off.
  3. Just wanted to ask couple of questions. Devin When you first made your decals did you sit there with a ruler and veriner etc and just map em out to scale in your pc or did you have a different aproach ? I ask this as Im curently looking at making me some 1/55 scale decals. Now 1/72 is straight forward as I have plenty of hasegawa 1/72 decal sheets to use as templates and help measurements. Also when practicing with my printer I just wanted to try the printer and paper out with some existing decals. My decals of choice are some hasegawa ones and a sheet of 1/72 wave ones. I scanned them in at the default setting and they look ok. when I scan them in at a high rate the resulting image is huge when viewed in PaintShop, and wont fit on the A4 page. What res do you sugest to get a goood print image and a lifesize image that dosnt need any shrinking or reizing to make it accurate.
  4. Good pictures, but one has to ask where exactly does the pasenger sit in that walking cutlery draw when its a car? I mean those missle launchers are kinda in the way.
  5. Yeah there is a guy selling them at the moment, Im waiting for mine to arrive too. I have an idea to adapt and print some for my 1/55`s, since now DEvin is nolonger making em !
  6. Today I recived my order from TwinMoons. I got some other stuff and just to make up the order ammount I got a Rowblowtech I-Man A Ben Dixon. Now before you alll say Rowblow tech sucks etc. I know Its a shame they never made em Macross instead. Now this was going to be one of those things you just bust out of the packet and put ontop of you monitor or on the Fridge in the kitchen. That was untill I noticed that Ben Dixon/Hayo Kakizaki was blue insted of yellow. Basically hes got the body of the Max figure. According to the one I found on eBay and goolgle searches he should have a yellow accented Jumpsuit. Has anyone else got one like this or is mine a one off like the proverbial two headed dollar ? Eaither way I think I`ll keep him in the box and get the others in the series. [attachmentid=37825] Mods if its in the wrong place please move
  7. Well I Got my sample sheets today and as luck would have it my order from TwinMoons also turned up with my Decals made by Devin. his work is really good. From the look and feel of the paper I may have stumbled onto the same stuff he used. Now all I need is something to print. So I ask you all Anyone got some 1/55 decal stickers they could scan for me. Doesnt matter which one Jetfire Joons reissue Taka whatever. I just havent got any myself and time is short so I cant custom make any for a few weeks.
  8. Well its all starting to look more boat like and less pile of Styrene. I have the same clamps as you (one on the left side) do you find the little springs are forever falling out ?
  9. Hang tight there !! you may still get your chance.
  10. Where did you get the Hud decals from ?
  11. Looks pridy good.
  12. Hasegawa might be better suited to do it as their decals are good quaility. Yamato would just turn them into stickers and we`d be no better off. That said How would you get eiather Hasegawa or Yamato to even listen to your mails or phone calls etc.
  13. Yeah maybe they would. I think they are almost sold out now.. Mine are on the way to me.
  14. Oh no I feel another 1/55 purchase comming on.
  15. It`s crazy but it might just work...........
  16. Wouldnt it be like one of those cars you can put your kids in and they can drive all over you lawn. I have seen a Porche one a Landrover and a Humvee one. Shame you cant get it to fly as your kids would be uber cool then.
  17. I think I have the Okidata printer you speak of at work. I`ll check it out and report back. Im gonna be feeding it some test runs soon anyhow.
  18. Other web sites are saying that you can use Halfords (a U.K car accessory shop like Autobacs) clear laquer car spray. It too is acrylic based so I asume that any acrylic based clear coat could work. I have ordered some sample decal sheets from a supplier of mine to try out in my new works laser printer. If anyone has a good scan of ANY 1/55 stickers that they could post or pm me, I would be greatfull. I am working on my own 1/55 decals but they are some time off completion yet. If the samples work out ok I will look at getting some in bulk and ordering my own printer to go with them.
  19. 2 feet of SDF shaped resin, where to put it. I dont mind which one but I guess asking for the optional parts to make eaither is asking a bit much. If I had to chooose I`d say DYRL just because most of my stuff is DYRL.
  20. I sit and wait for progress reports.
  21. I too would be interested in any information. I am looking at alternatives to the Alps Printers including one that can print white and metalics. More news when I have it. On the flipside does anyone have good quaility scans or can scan some jetfire decals?
  22. Ok CdnShockwave You realise now your opening your self up to "how did you do that" kind of questions. So get thinking the answers up and writing out your how to.
  23. Twin Moons still have some stock of Decals I just got some. Its a shame the that they didnt have any 1/55 stock as myself and Skull-1 would have cleaned them out. Devin please do consider making a Decal how to someday as Im sure it will be apreciated by everyone here. Am I correct in thinking that to make stickers "properly" is a similar process to making decals. I ask because I have a suplier who has several dry ink printers that do all metalics and white inks and suposidly can print on most surfaces including clear Vinyal. If I am correct I would consider getting one to print up some stuff for myself. I am a liitle aprehensive about getting a Alps printer after what you have said.
  24. Like F-ZeroOne says The JR pass can be good if you are going to be using JR lines for distance journeys. Short hops are fairly cheap so the money spent wont add up to the full fair of the JR pass. In the JR pass`s favour its helpfull when your still "learning" how the whole trian transport thing works in Japan. It is so easy to get off at the wrong station and have to pay the top up fee only to get back on the next train to go where you wanted to go in the first place. The JR pass can only be bought in your home country AFAIK. I got one for the first time I went there. It really helped. The Time out guide to Tokyo is helpfull if a tiny bit out of date in some areas. but it does have good train maps in the back and some city maps too with road names. Learn some Japanese, Even if its just please and thankyou, it goes a long way. My best advice is plan to do at least 2 times as many things as you have days for, that way you wont be disapointed. sometimes 2 or more things can be crammed into one day. You`ll never get to do everything. The only other thing to remember is you will want to go back. I do at least twice a year.
  25. Im sorry to see you end your decal biz. I can totally understand why. I didnt know about the alps thing glad I didnt shell out for the printer I was going to get the other week, I was looking at making my own stickers for a few non Macross projects. Darn!! When you say your not making any more, I guess you mean that all available stocks are with your distributors or on back order for members here who`ve paid already. I really regret not geting mine sooner. Are there no actual alternatives IYHO to the Alps for printing transfer decals. I know of a few Manufacturers who`s printers can do stickers but not decals. Theres a printers down the road from me who can do decals (bulk runs only) but for the price they want I could comminsion Yamato to do a special run for me. Someone once told me Life is what gets in the way of your hobbies. Good Luck to you Devin Someone needs to take the torch from Devin
