  1. Ah, okay. I wasn't aware of how much of the galaxy they had controlled prior to their fall. Also makes me wonder if they had any installations near the center of the galaxy near the enormous black hole at the center of it. Well...at least that leaves the rest of the universe, eh? It would be interesting to take a jump of about a millennia and see what Earth does insofar as their own "empire".
  2. Some good points; I know mine bears some resemblance to the VF-19 with elements of the VF-17: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/LlAvP On that note: I really should do a sheet with data on mine; thanks for the inspiration!
  3. Good point; I just felt the Maruk (Mardook?) were as you just said and not a separate civilization altogether. I was thinking equally advanced in comparison to the Protoculture. Since the galaxy is quite large, I would suspect it to be possible to have two such competing powers and not run into one another often unless desired. Anyways, nothing from "Word of God" ever denoted this, so I'm just out in the brambles looking probably for more than what's actually there.
  4. Yeah; it seems that they're just filling in with a bunch of wordy fluff for the thinness of the missing details. As for Kawamori-san; I wonder if he's getting burned-out on trying to come up with new designs? Given the aforementioned lack of original stuff in Delta, it seems at least possible to me. I know when designing my second variable fighter kitbash, I was struggling to not go over the same old ground and pretty much failed at that! (^not a mechanical engineer, nor plays one on TV!) That leads me to yet another question: (admittedly a departure from the main convo): I wonder about the possibility of yet another advanced civilization out there, perhaps a rival of the Protoculture? While not encountered in Macross as of yet, that at some point, a colony fleet ends up figuring their way past a barrier erected by the Protoculture, only to open up a new can of worms? I know that sounds in a way like what happened when researchers encountered the Protodevlin on Varauta. (maybe I need to lay off the Pastrami sandwiches before bedtime?)
  5. It might be the same factory that makes all those guns we see in films and TV that never run out of ammo.
  6. Thanks guys! Part of their charm is how "awkward" they look, although I do have a couple of the Masterpiece versions! As it stands, I'm very close to completing my 1984 Collection for the Autobots! BTW: nice job on the Titanic, derex!
  7. So it's entirely possible then that there may be an as to undiscovered facility remaining from the Protoculture that was capable of making it? I wonder if that's part of the reason for the continued exploration (aside from colonization, of course)?
  8. Well... he never was an award winner, even in proper attire!
  9. That raises a question in my mind: did the Protoculture civilization particularly prize fold quartz of that purity, or were they advanced enough to make their own at a specific quality and quantity? Not sure, but since you mentioned previously that Protoculture seemed to worship the Vajra, they may not have been.
  10. Yeah; visually at that scale, you wouldn't really see all that detail anyways. Not to mention it makes it look too "busy" and really detracts from the statue.
  11. Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww...............................
  12. Right? I particularly noted that about the FAST packs! Still, I liked the "chatter" between the pilots and the action was pretty good IMO. With some polishing, I think Iron Castle could really make a nice run of it!
  13. Well...been a bit busy with some stuff as of late: 1) I didn't like the "chunky cigar" the gunpod I had done for my G1 Jetfire had become: So, I stripped the whole thing down, carved off a ton of wood, made a makeshift lathe out of my dremel tool and reshaped it: I'll have finished pics up soon. 2) Finally got a G1 Shockwave figure for an affordable price; it was a bit rough though when I got it (Ebay pics courtesy of Lemuel2840): After cleaning it up (mildew/ white powdery mold) and fixing the arm joints, I repainted Shocky: I discovered a new process to make my own foil labels using clear decal paper and foil tape, which I'll be using to replace his Decepticon logo. And speaking of which... 3) Other G1 Transformers: I recently came across some affordable G1's that simply needed some parts, so I got busy scratchbuilding. I also developed a new foil label process using clear decal film and foil tape: G1 Prime's trailer: The bottom is the old one I peeled off (it was already peeling!); the new one is in place! G1 KO Megatron> G1 Megatron (repaint, minor repairs and new labels: And.. Thundercracker and Skywarp (working on Thundercracker now): Stay tuned...
  14. I found this online recently; thought folks might like to see it-
  15. Looking nice so far! meantime, I dare someone to take a Runabout model and do the Griswold Family's "green station wagon" space version, complete with Grandma on the top of it (National Lampoon's Vacation) and Lindsey Buckingham singing "Holiday Road" programmed into the base that can play when activated!
  16. Hmmm...this makes me wonder if micloning could be used for some other stuff...such as replacing damaged bodies, or even retaining the DNA of a younger version so that aging could be deteated. Simply transfer the consciousness to a younger body...
  17. I seem to specialize in the "weird" nowadays...
  18. I saw the Zentran Valk in the Macross II rpg books; interesting design, but it felt a little "naked" without GERWALK mode. On that note: while I understand your point about GERWALK mode, I recall in DYRL that Roy Focker had this team use GERWALK mode in battle as a way to swing around the incoming battlepods during the opening battle scene: (around 1:54 in the following video):
  19. Hoping for an SDF-1 reissue; would also love to see the old Imai VF-1 kits reissued (need some parts badly and some VF's I don't have yet!). Same,,,adding that to the list!
  20. Okay, looks like I can post!
  21. Well... when I built my custom valk, it was a Zeta Plus that was the basis for the framework (I modded the daylights out of it):
  22. I think (just my opinion anyways) that the difference is that in the original Japanese productions, they treated the mechs (in this case, the mobile suits ) as a means by which to tell the story. The characters were the primary point and the story was set in a war drama that happened to be one where mankind is using an advanced combat system that is robotic by nature. In 'Murican productions, they treat the mech as the whole point and the characters are secondary tack-on's. You just don't get the tension, heartache, loss and pain that the original stories convey because Michael is too busy setting the fuse for the next 5 tons of TNT. on the "junkyard vomit robots beating each other back into scrap"... that pretty much sums it up.
  23. Bettr than what I ould do.. Going to be takng a break fr a while folks; health is nt good right now.
  24. For an dvanced race, the protoclture seemed a bit...careless...
