  1. As far as I'm concerned, that ship is a flying explodium exhibit looking for a place to happen.
  2. Thanks!! I got the addition painted up, and it's now paired with the "open engine" leg I built: I really wanted the sense of people actually working on the Valkyrie, so I wanted open parts, open cockpits, you name it. I might decide to open the cockpit on the Destroid when I can get a moment (have my first exam tomorrow at 1:15 PM, so pray for me folks!), so we'll see how that goes! But of course, I also want to be able to display Hikaru's Vf-1J as a whole valk, so here's the original leg (I keep in in the "valk can" with the other optional parts):
  3. *pengbuzz falls over from sheer overload* "peng... macross...overload... must...build...MORE...."
  4. Meanwhile, working on yet another project (for the diorama): (no, it's not a one-man death laser! lol ) It's a seat/ post combo for my 1/72 Imai valks, so the head can be displayed "flipped forward", with the seat up (per Macross). Here's a pic of the valkyrie in battroid mode with this snapped into place: It simply plugs onto the post the head would normally use, and then you just plug the head into place at the end. I'll be painting this up in a little while (had to repait the little "l-shaped" plastic tab on the 1S' nose that hooks the back to the front, so that takes priority.
  5. Lol, yeah, right? Anyways, since we're on that topic: progress pics from start to (now) finished: Had to refine the paint job a bit towards the end, but hopefully, my friend who commissioned this likes it.
  6. I wonder about a prequel where the original Protoculture society's wars are examined? Maybe a "hour before doomsday" scenario? Or one where the pre-SDF-1 is launched on it's last flight? Maybe even a sequel series where a portion of the Protoculture society survived and is not thrilled about humanity?
  7. Meantime: A friend gave me this and asked me to make it "screen accurate": Give me a week, and...
  8. "POS"??!! Dude, if mine came out looking half as good as that, I'd be thrilled beyond belief!!! With all due respect: I don't ever want to hear you insult yourself or your work, peter (and I mean that in the nicest possible way! ). You're build looks remarkable, and I think you have something to be proud of here! Kudos on a job well done!
  9. At least in Macross, the only difference in the Valkyries were the head, and that's kinda hard to keep track of in a fight.
  10. Well, I thought I was done with my Macross Factory..until a good friend sent me some material support in the form of 1/72 scale figures. the issue I ran into though was that the previous figures I had already installed were smaller than 1/72 (about 1/100).... So...that required some work on the vehicles to get them to the proper scale. (enlarging cabin on boom truck, making tow tractor a bit thicker, etc.) Then I got more bright ideas (yes, the fun never ends...) Anyways, some pics for right now; my camera battery is low, so I have to recharge it. I'll have more later this evening folks. meantime, enjoy the couple I managed to get: (crappy as they are):
  11. Just plain WOW AND A HALF!!! You really have a knack for detailing and weathering! *picks jaw up off of floor*
  12. REALLY nice job on this, Photogirl!! Just blown away with the detailing and weathering!!
  13. Don Matthys used to make replacement parts for both the D as well as the Refit/A, but he passed away some time ago. :( Not sure if anyone took up his molds and whatnot, as I don't frequent Starship modeler as much as I used to.
  14. Try spraying some primer to see what you actually have left to fill.
  15. Sigh...if Dana ever landed head first on the ground, she's be stuck there with all the pointy stuff on her helmet.
  16. Steve Jobs haunting us from beyond the grave...aka "Ghost In The Machine: Silicon Valley Complex"
  17. Went back to look at older posts and saw I didn't fully answer your qeustion! OOPS!!! I used the post connection that came with the Bandai over-engineered VF-1S kit, and simply drilled a square hole (reinforced to take the post) for it to slip into. Kind of a pain though; I should have done the swing-bar instead like Yamato. Maybe someday i'll get a 1/60 when my ship comes in (and doesn't sink on the way! )
  18. You're doing fine so far; it's going to need a lot of surface prep to remove those engraved panels, so just let the process "be the process" and work to get it finished. Take it slow and don't rush to complete any sections. if you need to, take some time off for a little bit and switch to another project. Mine is still in primer and re-re-reworking!
  19. On those pylons, you're going to want at least an epoxy to glue them into place (trust me on this). And when you do, you may want to set this so that after gluing the pylons (but before they cure) you can align the warp engines so they don't go in weird directions and adjust the pylons as they cure. Those tabs and the plastic they slide into are not very strong, so REINFORCE THE HELL out of them before you commit. You'll be doing yourself and the model a huge favor.
  20. Do yourself a HUGE favor: get a polyester-based filler and fill the panel lines that you don't want. If you try sanding all that off, you're going to be there forever, not to mention you'll run the risk of sanding off detail and drastically changing the shape of the hull. Ask the gang here for a good suggestion on filler putty.
  21. The blue stuff I think has more polymers in it, plus that annoying ORANGE scent. You may as well be using Elmer's Glue for all the good it will do you. lol I like the liquid cements for certain procedures and tube for others; for tough jobs (like fixing my VF-1S yesterday after the arms snapped off at the bicep rotators! O.o ), I prefer Devcon Plastic Weld. I can literally build parts out of it (two part epoxy like system).
  22. I'm sorry, but while the design of the Top Gun/ Transformers x-over figure looks okay, the paint job looks like Maverick did a barrel roll through dog crap. O.o I mean, I know it's supposed to be a dog fighter but really...this is taking it a bit far...
  23. Yeah, i went "all-out" and actually reshaped hull parts. I even widened the pylons and redesigned the pylon/secondary hull connection.
