  1. A point against Garfield was that he starred in this very boring movie based on a Kazuo Ishiguro novel. Every time I see him I am reminded of that very boring movie. Thankfully it was shown for free and I didn't spend a cent on it, just my time. Also I like Tobey Maguire's Spider-man a lot. As a disclaimer, I don't read the comics though. I also don't like over-use of the nano-suit, it feels like borderline gimmicks. I'll roll my eyes if Cap/BlkWidow/etc also get nano-suits.
  2. I've complained about the moe-ification of the Major in the ARISE series, but this rendition borders on 'gritty' (though not on the level of that dreadful comic of the show-that-shall-not-be-named on the other thread). Unfortunately my local bookstore doesn't give out free comics--just a graphic novel sale. So I'm not getting the chance to get this. Are you getting this comic? If so, let us know what's inside.

My Hikky VF1A arrived today--what a surprise! I thought they were going to deliver next week (I've learned to lower expectations on delivery times). I hope I can take some pics this weekend. It's gonna be a busy weekend for me for sure
  4. I've watched it. Now I know I shouldn't doubt Disney+Marvel. While Ant-Man wasn't flashy, I really liked the parallel father-daughter relationships. It's not all mindless fun. But I'm still not over my Spider-Man fatigue so sorry Tom, not gonna be watching your movies anytime soon. (I think I also have Iron Man fatigue.)
  5. While I like Steve Rogers/Chris Evans and all his Captain America movies, I'll be more sad if Thor/Chris Hemsworth is killed off. I wanna see more Thor And I'd also like to see an actual Black Widow movie.
  6. But Macross had lots of politics...I mean, Kaifun says 'Hello!'
  7. I didn't get to see that movie. I used to like Transformers, but after the 3rd live-action movie I was done with the franchise. I have stopped caring about them. I think the impact would be more felt among casual moviegoers-- the ones who have no idea about the comics and the kids.
  8. He loves Spider-Man. A lot of his shoes from his younger years were Spider-Man branded. But he already watches The Walking Dead so I dunno, maybe he can take it?

I've read a lot of complaints about Pasay post office, maybe they should complain to gov't hotlines about that? That time I went to the post office, I went when it was an hour before closing time and my experience was ok. Except for the fact that the cashier put a smaller amount on the receipt than what I actually paid to her. ^_^; But it was my first time claiming and the discrepancy was small so I opted to ignore it and go home with my packages instead. One lady though was not so lucky--on the way home she ranted to me that they gave her the runaround regarding her package.

Luckily I'm not in Pasay And CDJ, HLJ, and Nippon-yasan have put their invoices on the package for the customs to see. But there was that one time though that they opened my box blatantly (that was Christmas time..) Anyway, the post office from a neighbor city now delivers the package to my house instead. Maybe the EMS hub is now there, I'm not sure but it's really convenient. By comparison my current city's post office seem to be a bunch of lazy folks.
  11. I skipped the first movie because back then I was like, who's Ant-Man?? There's a super-hero called Ant-Man??? Seriously? But now of course I know what he's all about so I'm sure to watch this in the theatre when it comes out.
  12. I'm gonna be having 2nd thoughts if my nephew requests to see this movie. He's less than 10 years old, will he be thoroughly disappointed? But I what I'm most worried about is him asking questions in the middle of the movie..who's that purple guy? why is collecting those stones?? He's a Spider-Man fan but I don't know if he knows about the Guardians of the Galaxy...
  13. Can't say exactly which mall for privacy purposes, but I watched at IMAX at an SM mall, then a 'regular' screen at an Ayala mall. (Have never watched at MoA or MegaMall though.) Ticket prices have shot up, so now I don't watch movies as much because of the price. But if a movie impresses me so much I'd go for a 2nd viewing.

Yeah, EMS. It's expensive but I have peace of mind due to the tracking--at least I know it's stuck in customs!
  15. Here's my review of the Ghost in the Shell bilingual edition: https://mechaspiritia.wordpress.com/2018/04/30/review-ghost-in-the-shell-bilingual-edition/ Summary: - It is an uncensored version - Has lighter coloring compared to Dark Horse version - Has smaller fonts (if you are concerned about readability) - Footnotes in Japanese only (it's in English in the Dark Horse version) So, for those who want a new copy of uncensored version, this is the one to get. It is already backordered at CDJ (http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/product/NEOBK-217032).

To my surprise HLJ shipped my HR VF1A today...But since I live in the 3rd world I'm most probably still getting it next week.
  17. Just got back from my 2nd watch of the movie. Those missed chances, if you weren't aware of the comics, would be real heartbreakers. I thought it was good writing. I don't know if I have the will to watch a 3rd time, but damn, I really loved the action in this movie.
  18. I was really relieved that I skipped on Apocalypse. I would have been really angry afterwards if I spent money on that movie. I enjoyed the previous movie though. It's also good in a way if you're not a comic fan. Some choices might leave you disappointed. I know I was even with the very first X-men movie (though that movie was just OK in my book, not great). Though I am more of an X-Men fan. I knew little about what the Avengers did before the movies, but I did know who most of them were. Heck, I even watched some of those old Thor and Captain America cartoons! I just can't find an original cut of Loki's hypnotizing sequence--that one was the funniest. So here's a mashup instead
  19. If I had a big house I'd have more toys...Unfortunately I spent a lot of my money on gadgets and travel in the first few years of my working life. I regret the gadgets, but I don't regret the travels. Also back then I didn't know the wonderful world of toy collecting via online shops. That's an awesome toy room! Good for you, you don't have kids. I don't have kids but I save for future responsibilities (aging parents, a nephew, my future self). I have some 'investments' but the stock market is kinda down right now. But it is an opportunity for buying. Unfortunately a lot of my budget goes to 'purchases' now
  20. Saw it on IMAX today--didn't really want IMAX but it was the only way I could reserve a seat quickly so I had to pay up. Else I was going to suffer standing in the lines, or worse, get spoiled if I failed to watch this weekend. Anyway it was great, Thanos was well presented. But I need a rewatch, hopefully the theaters won't be so full next weekend.
  21. I decided to check out the RG Tallgeese since it's release day today. But to my surprise it's now back-ordered at HLJ! T_T This was the note from HLJ: Bandai has announced that their shipments of the RG Tallgeese EW will be split between two deliveries, one in April and one in May. Please note that depending on when we received an order, it may be filled in either April or May. Decided to order hoping I might get into the May delivery. I did not pre-order beforehand because I only wanted to pay for 2 purchases this month. Lesson learned. So this time I pre-ordered the HG Leo just to make sure I get at least one. Now I'm gonna have to revise my budget for May, and June...I know it's available at other stores but I like to combine with other orders so I'm sticking with HLJ (and waiting for next payday).
