The Aim for the Top! Gunbuster Thread v2.0
Twoducks replied to Noriko Takaya's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
More Gunbuster goodness: from http://www.toysdaily.com/phpBB2/viewtopic....34f17398c85b099 New gimmick (judging from old and these photos): extra parts to make the torso shuttle look more rounded in the arm section and parts for the underside of both shuttles. Can’t see if these extra parts can be mounted in the back of Gunbuster (one of the back pics might suggest that). -

Let the rumour be true!... That way I’ll save 100$ because I HATE guns. A detailed tank would be hard to resist but a boring gun is easy to pass. I’ll just wait for a THS or Revoltech Megs. -

But such a big plane would horde a lot of space R_Deckard, could you post some pics of the belly of the plane? I need to see if cutting the skirt and abdomen parts break the tight look of the underside too much. -
first toy purchase as an adult

I got the McFarlane Toys Sentinel from the Matrix a few years back (wish I hand't, that thing eats a ton of space... good thing I have it parked in my brothers house ). But the thing that really started me getting toys again was the 1/48 VF-1J. Damn the day . -

Yep, truly an awesome mod. I'm really getting tempted to do R_Deckard's waist-joint mod too. -

I was going to wait and see what the new pics for the YF-19 had to offer before cancelling it, but that overpriced valk is sooo cancelled now. I was thinking of also getting one of those display thingies with the Gunbuster for flying poses and *wham!*, this comes up. But this SOC line is dangerous for the wallet; never saw Ideon (so no emotional attachment there) but the SOC looks really good. I hope I just get Gunbuster and forget about it. From: http://www.toysdaily.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=58893 Launch tower/display base can also hold Gunbuster in flying poses! With every new SOC gimmick revealed the wallet (and limited display space) tilts further from the YF-19 to the Gunbuster -

The toys isn't fragile per se, it's just really tight the first few transformations and so makes a lot of scary noises until it loosens up. If you start the transformation by lifting the piece with the airbrake before folding the wings instead of following the instructions you’ll be ok. After more than a dozen transformations, I’m now only careful with the nose part because I don’t want the tampo printed stuff there to continue chipping. The tail spikes are the only part I see that can break, but so far I’ve had them caught in my shirt a few times and they are ok (whereas a model kit would be broken by now). Edit: Congrats for your very very near future wedding!! -

Now that's better To bad this isn't a THS, I really like THS 02 Convoy. This time they could make it the size of MP Prime; something as boxy as a tank or a gun (if they just want to sell it in Japan) probably doesn’t need too many parts and engineering to look like a boxy robot. -

Well, I’ve had MP SS for a few days now and after a dozen transformations I can say I really like it. The toy is really fun to transform (the fist transformation was a tense moment due to how tight everything was though ). I’ve followed the recommendation of lifting the part with the air brake before the wings and have had no stress marks behind the wings. I did have one appear in the right intake like others I’ve seen. Also one of the folding tailfins has stress marks but that was my fault. I also didn’t flap the wings backwards until I had some transformations under my belt (and the toy wasn’t so tight) and don’t take out the pegs that connect the wings to the back. The Bad: The instructions really are vague. Some scary moments on the first transformation were directly attributed to them. Also, while putting the nose thru the chest, you have to be careful and navigate it in the process if you don’t want to have the decorations wear off. One of the decepticon logos and part of the SS catch phrase with the pyramid Cybertron alt mode have rubbed of partly because I didn’t notice this before. Leaving the abdomen completely open (not in the final position) and moving up and down the upper body helps while you are positioning the cockpit area. The shoulder white stripes have rubbed off a little too (guess I’ll repaint them when they get worse). Overall, I’m really happy with the toy. Since a lot of cool poses have been done, I’ve gone the retarded route... sooo MP SS, the multichanger: [attachmentid=37372] Who needs Megatron! [attachmentid=37373] Ship mode [attachmentid=37374] Industrial complex mode [attachmentid=37375] Beast form [attachmentid=37376][attachmentid=37377] Piggyback ride mode [attachmentid=37381] "Guess who?" mode [attachmentid=37379] "Stop picking your nose in public" mode [attachmentid=37380] And G1 robot/brick mode (without the boxing gloves, just like my original SS was after three weeks with it as a kid). -
No Daedalus = No Daedalus Attack = No good Looks really nice. Personally I don't mind the size (wouldn't mind it being smaller even... I need a bigger house ) but for that price it should include the Daedalus and the Prometheus also. The series SDF had less detail and the main guns were a little different but it would be cool considering how nice this toy looks.

TFmaster from tfw2005 has posted a pic of his repaint: Fantastic job but I definitely find that the anime colours make this great mold look simpler and make MP-03 look more realistic. To each their own. -

It's easy: they make the made-up scheme first instead of waiting until they have all the cartoon ones thus selling more units of the made-up scheme (after all the anime character repaints, how many more would still want another one?). It’s easier to imagine someone reselling their MP-03 or buying another MP coloured like his favourite cartoon character. In my case I’m really glad they went with this homage/realistic/whateverthehellyouwanttocallit scheme but others will buy MP-03 out of impatience and then get the one they really wanted. Takara wins in both cases. -

Here's a really nice and big gallery with some shots of the landing gear and a step by step of the transformation. It also has more shots of SS with the hip kibble on the legs. http://members9.tsukaeru.net/ty1_toys/toys/MP_03a.htm Found link in sgcollect.com forums. And Extra Large Mumma, here are some older shots of the MP SS landing gear from that same forum. -

... You know, you should put all your gripes with the toy in your sign or just copy/paste them; it's really sad imagining you typing and retyping the same stuff over and over in this thread and others for the last few months. In the beginning it was normal but now it’s getting too obsessive. While not able to stand up straight, looks like MP SS with the hip kibble in the legs can still be posed whitout the stand (don't know how many action poses it could do, the ower just tried this one): Found here And for something weird: looks like (don't know if this is really real) MP SS and Dr. Grey Blob have appeared in the KissPlayers radio show... better look here: http://www.sgcollect.com/forum/index.php?s...st&p=941166 -
Definitely like what I'm seeing. Nice to see they try to capture the over the top but aesthetic action scenes Frank Miller puts in his comics. Like the music too. I find that it fits very well with a film that distorts reality so much (better than the usual stuff we hear in normal period movies).

Actually, you are probably the only one that cares about all that. To the rest of the world (which doesn't care what a conformal-tank is) plane mode looks more real, they just don't like the stuff added to the arms and the stuff on the hips in robot mode. The mold will be milked in other colours (after all, it's a cheap way to make more money). There's no need to constantly whine about that. -

My god, the second time!!... how many time has the "prototype = more accurate" rant been said? I think it's been running around more than a few months now. I just pointed out and option, but please continue feeling bitter about a stupid toy if you want. That's on the eye of the beholder. To me this toy brings the best it can out of all those elements better than the prototype, as I have already posted. To other people it doesn’t. Period. Then why the heck are a lot of people who don't care one bit about Macross (and love their TF) buying this slap in their face?? It’s an $80-$100 slap in the face you know. And the ones who say they'll wait for the repaints (it's still going to be the same mold you know)?? They just don’t like the first scheme but are willing to buy another based more on the anime. If I'm buying it it's because he looks like Starscream to begin with, not because the toy happens to have something in his hips like a certain old design done by Kawamori (who has made A LOT more stuff than hip kibble mechs).
