  1. I see that Nyoro~n also have the episodes in AVI. Any differences in quality?
  2. Yep, both the tiny and the big ride armour look great. The big one definitely isn’t the Toynami cyclone (the one in the magazine looks a lot less clunky) http://toyfair07.asmzine.com/gallery/Toyna...s/DSC01741.html [attachmentid=40311] so it must be the Beagle (I had forgotten they were making one).
  3. Must be the Beagle ones, because they don't look like the Toynami one: http://toyfair07.asmzine.com/gallery/Toyna...tech/index.html
  4. Ooooh! Just think of all the possibilities if it sells well...
  5. Look what wolverine59 posted in the Aoshima Legioss thread: http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?...st&p=483809
  6. Here you go: And now this is me: CM wins on looks and extras by a mile. So much Mospeado love in that magazine scan
  7. "Scissor me timbers!" indeed
  8. Well, at least people will be able to get the Blue one cheaper (compared to the insane bay prices).
  9. Always wanted the tank. I did have Lion-O. I would cover him with tape, like a mummy, and then set him free... again and again. I also had the one with the wip. A friend of mine always said I got a bootleg and not the real one. It really pissed me off when he said that.
  10. Exactly. Kids can take complex stories and don't need to be treated as retards. If you make a story, chances are you will get a more adult audience interested in your show too. It also happened with Tiny Toons; Spielberng wanted to make a quality kids show and he got a following from a lot of different age groups. But we have to remember that almost all of the shows we liked as kids treated us as retards, or that’s the way it looks when you see those shows with grownup eyes (boy is TF stupid; thank Buda there was Robotech!). The thing is that kids (now and back then) like cartoons and they will watch anything you throw at them, of course they like good shows better, but it's faster and easier to make crap. You never know, maybe in two years time we will hear people saying that the new Thundercats is worth the time. Scream man mentioned Avatar, the Last Air Bender. The show gives you a very character driven storyline, full of themes you wouldn't expect in a kiddie show, plus great animation and action. And Nicklelodeon keeps betting on the quality that has earned the show tons of followers; you have to wait months just to see a new episode. You know what’s funny? I love the show, but when I first saw the character designs and the synopsis in Animation Magazine years ago, I was fascinated at how much it sounded as a RIPOFF OF EVERYTHING ANIME!! The article talked about a kid hero, anime influence, martial arts and mystic stuff (wow, that's new). Then we had a pic of an ameri-anime style kid, in a martial arts uniform… with a pet monkey… flying around and with a stick.... I laughed my ass thinking about what a crappy Dragon Ball rip-off avatar was going to be. Some months ago my brother forced me to watch some clips of the show in youtube. Good thing he did; what sounded as an anime rip-off is far better and more interesting than the great majority of the anime out there.
  11. It does make sense from a business perspective. What's easier tho sell to a network, executive or similar? A series about a bunch of teens that fight evil when they aren’t playing in a concert or a series based on the 80’s hit, the Thundercats? Same idea but the second pitch has a better chance of being produced. There is evidence that Thundercats made money, that doesn’t mean that it will make money now but that little fact makes the pitch sound more promising than “Teen rockstar adventures: evil bewareâ€. Another good thing of reviving a dead franchise is that you can recycle all the art. It’s easier (and more cost efficient) to make old designs look “hip†(or whatever you want to call it) than to create completely new stuff (anorexic Lion-O still looks a lot like the old one). Now add the freedom to rape any old story elements done before, completely lawsuit free, and you just saved yourself some time and money. What’s easier for a journalist form Animation Magazine to write about? “Rockstar teen" or about a series based on another series that has tons of information already available. Just citing the differences between the old one and the new one is easier, more interesting and more fun to write about (and to read). Free publicity is VERY good (especially when you want the biggest number of networks to air your show), and a journalist will almost always go for the easy/sure-bet article. And speaking of childhood rapes; in my case, nothing has raped my childhood more than rewatching the shows I liked as a kid. I bet that 10+ years from now the Pokemon generation will be saying "childhoodrape this and that" when they remake that show.
  12. Very good news. The more (companies doing Mospeada stuff) the merrier (we we'll be).
  13. When I see this gorgeous beauty next to my desk I wish I hadn’t sold the extra one I originally got. I was going to sell both to recoup some cash but that evil youtube video made me open one. Good thing I did crack one open; this thing is one of my favourite pieces in my collection. On a side note: call me an heretic, but a lot of times I’m reminded of the opening of M2 when I see the fig
  14. Damn it! It does look really good... If it can turn it's waist, even with the core fighter gimmick, Bandai has my money (don't have a RX-78 yet so my conscience would be squeaky clean ).
  15. Considering that the CM's big Brave Genesic Gao Gai Gar is worth some 170 US$ in HLJ and that it comes with all this: [attachmentid=41402] And manages to create this complex looking transforming mecha out of a show full of anime magic; http://ooebi.sakura.ne.jp/toys/braves/GGG/GGGG/BRAVE03c.htm I would say the price won't fall on the "much more expensive" category. Specially considering that Toynami itself has said that their two year old Beta prototype would cost 150-200 US$. Even considering that Mospeada isn't as popular as GGG, looking at CM's prices and complex products you see that they deliver much more bang for the buck compared to Toynami. Just look: Masterpiece Alpha (currently at 60$ in RT.com) + cheap Beta (150$ instead of 200)= 210 US$ for the Toynami set. Don't think the CM set will climb much more than that.
  16. Fist sword of the North Star?
  17. Wish I’d bought Fewture Getter 1 and 2 three months ago. What I ended up doing with the extra cash was even more retarded (and a LOT more costly) than buying some stupid expensive toys.
  18. The eagle-like talons in Gerwalk look kickass.
  19. Don’t know about the 100% certainty. My SOC Gunbuster bought in HLJ arrived customs free by EMS. My other three purchases made in HLJ (delivered by SAL) also passed tax free. Guess HLJ brings me luck. Maybe it depends on the country but Spain is very anal about customs fees (at least when it comes to me). All other shipments I’ve received from other sources have had to pay taxes (save for Gundam stuff or really small packages). Edit: Great to hear the first preorder price is lower than expected (and unlike the YF-19, this release comes with extras). You’re back on the right track Yamato.
  20. Ouch! Sorry about your wobbly main gun Hurin. In my case the QC problem is a crooked head (well, don’t know if that was because I was careless in the first transformation and pressed against it). I’ll have to superglue it in place because pushing it down doesn’t help. Thing I forgot to mention: Placing the ship/stand connector piece had to be done while in midtransformation of the body because it wouldn’t fit otherwise. This was because the peg didn’t have enough space underneath. After that, I was able to connect it without any problems after finishing the transformation (guess it was mistransformed the fist time I tried). One thing I don’t remember reading about is the cute little mechanisms that hide the pegs that hold the main guns together. When you rotate them the pegs disappear. The toy looks AWESOME and I'm really happy with it but for the price Wave could have done something extra like adding a set of damaged main guns like in the movie (don’t know if that could really be possible though) and/or including some clear plastic pieces simulating the firing of the main guns (like Bandai is doing now with some of their kits). 21. It’s kinda difficult to explain but here it goes: In the pic I posted you can see my left thumb. It's there to counter the force I use with the right arm when I unlock the leg. I pull horizontally and downward at the same time to unlock. After that you have to swing down the leg until it locks in its place. This part is also kinda difficult because the part of the joint that connects to the leg is a kind of ratchet joint (and very tight). If you still feel unsafe in your first transformations, try using other anchor points (like your index finger on top of the chest). The whole point is to make sure that the plastic hip area does not receive too much force in one direction. Once you get the hand of it there shouldn’t be any problem. Hope this helps.
  22. 5 pages of heated discussion filtered down to 2 pics : [attachmentid=41037] [attachmentid=41038] Back to the topic at hand: I find the size perfect (I don’t have much space to display stuff); just wish the price was lower. That aside, I really like this toy. Looks great in ship mode and awesome when transformed. You don’t notice how small it is unless you compare it to bigger stuff (like with the 1/48). [attachmentid=41029] By itself it looks bigger than it really is (very nice detail). The box feels light but the toy itself is heavy (especially in the legs where most of the diecast is). The video is great to show how the toy looks but I would follow the instructions when transforming it, at least the first few times. The centre body should not be put in place until the end, that way pulling down the legs becomes easier (they are very tight and if done wrong could spell disaster). There’s a piece of plastic that can work as an anchor point four your finger like so: [attachmentid=41028] Then with your other hand you can gently pull away the leg and then down until it locks into place. Doing the legs first (unlike the video) means that the arms can unlock farther away and leave more space for when the shoulders rotate. Things to look after: -Due to the size, the antennas and such are thin and therefore fragile. If you are not careful they could get caught on your clothes and then snap. You won’t have problems if you keep track of them when transforming. -The part where the legs lock into place in both ship and robot form is plastic, so again be careful when pulling down the legs until they loosen up a bit. -Be careful when moving the arms. These joints are freaking tight so carefully move each one until they are a bit loose. Remember that the first joint rotates (unlike the rest, which more up and down). The stand is great and you can achieve some cool poses thanks to it (since the body has a clicking joint, it can be made to look like the SDF-1 is coming or going towards you). The legs also rotate a bit in the hip area and have a weird perpendicular knee joint (they can move to the sides).
  23. They modelled the Strike in Gundam Evolve 8 after the PG Strike so I guess this time it’s the opposite. Evolve 15 has a new RX-78 design never before seen in a model kit so my vote for Mg #100 goes to that design (the Samurai RX-78 would be more fun to build and display though).
