Yes, a bit. Usually "go away!" Or "don't eat me!" Not "Fly! Eat teh hoomanz!" Of course, we don't know what really happens in the movie...

Is the big bad dino commanding the pterosaurs to attack people? My eagerness for this has dropped a few pegs after this trailer. At least they address the silly concept in the trailer. "Why make new ones? They're DINOSAURS." "Meh, corporate says so..." I also wish we could get away from the pteranodon picking up an adult human trope. I realize it's a King Kong reference, we get it. It wouldn't work. Maybe lift & drop, but a sustained carry would be as likely than a swallow bringing a coconut to England.

Oh hey. It's 8:30. I guess it's time to watch these things again! Oh man, it looks like Kanan v Vader is not gonna be pretty. Feels like the better response would've been "Runaway!!!"

Ah. Huh... Anybody catch the "my son..." When they show Vader's mask?

I'm almost as excited about this as the TFA trailer! A & B wings, serious consequences, rex, James Earl Jones! I hope Ahsoka lasts a while. I wonder if the other clones are guys we already know.

I bet they planned the trailer with the nostalgic line from ROTJ, but found it didn't work in practice. So they had Mark redo the line. I don't expect to hear the line in the film, not do I think there's any significance to the "my father Has it."

I love BB-8. Completely blown away by his functionality. I'd bet that he'll be partially cg'd, though. Especially when he needs to be fast

Jawas or whatever, it would take a looong time to scavenge a Super Star Destroyer. Heck, you'd think having those lying around would cause some serious inflation in the scrap metal & parts market.

Yeah, I've assumed (since adulthood, anyway) that those were reverse thrusters or something. If there are fans in there, they could be smaller and ducted to the outside. Besides, they're just mimicking this: Even down to the stripes on the nose. Should've rounded the cockpit frame a little bit more, though.

Interesting, it looks like this is just an upgraded ISD. That seems prudent. It also looks like the new TIEs can fire backwards. I kinda dig the new color scheme, too.

That would fit the scale. So, does that mean Rebel Assault 2 is canon?

I gotta get Harmy's ESB & ROTJ. The kid's gonna watch those again before TFA comes out. It'd be nice if they were hi-def. (although, she'll be 6 and probably cares little about that) We're doing Clone Wars for a while now, to be followed by ROTS, then Rebels, then back to ANH.

I think that's what is confusing me when I look at your recent buildups. The RG detail looks consistent with many MGs I've seen, so my brain tells me they're 8" tall, not 5". Thanks for your input, guys. I might see about picking up a RG at some point and giving it a go - or even a ReZel or something I dig at that scale. I've also got to consider my eventual planned hobby zone, which'll be about 8x10. This will need to fit a workbench, paint booth, storage and display. Keeping in mind some of the other projects I have planned, maybe I should stick to a smaller scale. I've

I guess the price is in line with what we get these days. Hopefully they're still working on the elbow articulation. It hold its rifle like a Chunky Monkey.

I'm not averse to some painting. I just don't have the time or inclination to do a lot of sanding, priming and airbrushing right now. I've been looking at my MG's and am considering just a straight build + flat coat. But my Mk-II is the only one I'd be happy with OOB. So, I'm currently weighing whether I want to keep my Mk-II, Tallgeese & Rick Dom in that scale, or just sell 'em off & get a few little dudes.

So, I haven't built a 1/144 kit since Wing was broadcast on Cartoon Network... What are the HGUC kits like, in terms of detail & quality? I've built a couple MG's, and have a few still in their boxes. But, since I don't have much room or time to do any modeling, I've been considering going back to 1/144. I like the size and heft of the MG's but they take a lot of work. If I just want to scratch the modeling itch, it seems like the little ones might be better. And they're a lot cheaper & more varied, too. Is the size of the MS satisfying? Looks like the RG's can be done pretty well with no painting. What about HGUC?

Real World Technical References of Macross Variable Aircraft
Kelsain replied to charger69's topic in Movies and TV Series
Yes, those were the designs I remember! At least the first 2. I'm sure I said nice job, back then. But hey, nice job! Maybe the water landing space fighter was supposed to mirror the water landing spaceships?- 278 replies

Potentially non-sentient minds as well - remember when severely injured Sivil sucked the Spiritia out of some very happy chirpy birds? For me that implied that it was simply the state of emotion that triggered the creation of Spiritia energy; the more impassioned the individual was, the more Spiritia they would create. That's why the Varuta toyed with the VF-11 pilots before draining them, to make them more afraid, thus increasing the Spiritia harvest. Animal emotions also counted, though perhaps less potent than those animals that were self aware, like us.

Real World Technical References of Macross Variable Aircraft
Kelsain replied to charger69's topic in Movies and TV Series
My understanding of the VF-5 comes from random references here on MacrossWorld, as well as a few fan arts that I've seen here and on DeviantArt. It's essentially the legend that a VF-5 had been officially mentioned somewhere, and that it was apparently capable of a water landing. Of course, no official design or even Kawamori doodles seem to exist - or at least I've never seen them. Is this V-max article the original source of this? If so, it's the first actual reference I've heard of! Seems like since this idea came about, the SeaDart has become a design inspiration to some artists as they imagined what this would look like. Having seen a few of these drawings prior to visiting Sun 'n Fun (sorry, apparently located in Lakeland, FL), I could really see the SeaDart as a variable fighter as I walked around and under it. Maybe I'll see if I can find the photos tonight and post them in Anime/Scifi.- 278 replies

IIRC, the only use of it was changing the name of South Ataria Island to Macross Island, the site of Macross City. They always referred to the ship itself as the SDF-1.

Yep, that looks like the one. It was pretty cool. Took a whole bunch of photos of it, if anybody would like to see them! I thought the skis would work pretty well for the arms of the VF-5.- 278 replies
