Looks a little sleeker than the lineart. But then again, all the M+ mecha is "husky."

Do you prefer TV or DYRL paint scheme?
Kelsain replied to potatotomato's topic in Movies and TV Series
Both. Standard unit color on the left, Milia's on the right. -
Ah, but at least they have big boots - so calling them The Foot makes a bit more sense.

I just started my RG RX-78-2 over lunch. Dang, these pieces are fiddly! Looks like it'll take a couple days to get though the feet at this rate. But this should be a nice, relaxing way to spend the time and give me a sense of productivity. I could probably use a desk lamp, though. I tell you what, though. The Google Translate app is going to come in REAL handy on this kit. Good call, mikeszekely!

Remember when they combined Jem with Robotix? I think there was another cartoon in the mix as well. That's when I was mostly exposed to it.

I thought the same thing! And I had nightmares about beta-Alex's halfway state. Myk: you should give B5 a try. It had a tightly planned 5 year arc, loosely based on Lord of the Rings. The sfx were great at the time, later seasons still look good.production design is great. It starts slow, but start kicking ass about 1/2 way through season 2. 3 is perfection, but 4 is a little rushed, because they lost their contract for the 5th year, and they had to finish the story. Then TNT gave them season 5, which became an over extended epilogue. Almost like the end of Return of the King -but a season.

Yeah, thus the quotes on necessary. You COULD do a good story in an existing world that way. Perhaps even enticing new audiences to go back and see the original and prompting BluRay sales. But it's not likely... The fact hat the writer of the original is the one holding the rights is the only thing that gives me hope about this.

Well, I changed my mind. I went ahead and tacked on an RG 78 to my last Amazon order. It'll give me a little project to work on over lunches.

What if, to preserve the gimmicky aspect of the original's CGI, the remake was made exclusively with real models? Honestly, though: I would't want to see a remake at all of Last Starfighter. It's a simple hero's journey, which has been done well and poorly by countless other movies. This one was done pretty well, overall and I love it. However, the standout features of the movie are it's amazing production design and it's use of ground breaking CGI. But now - CGI is not groundbreaking, and I'd hate to see the Gunstar put through the same redesign filter as the USS Enterprise. What the movie also gives us is a well crafted, rich world. Much like Star Wars, what we see on screen hints at a bigger history that could be explored. If a sequel is to be made, I'd want to see something that expanded on what is hinted at, showing us a wider world, much like Empire did. And they'd need to get a design supervisor that recognizes and would continue the clean, functional designs of the original. But it's been 30 years, so an origin story is "necessary" for all the kids who've never seen the original and can't be bothered to rent it and sit through old SFX.

"The Plundering Fleet" and "The Lost Two Years"
Kelsain replied to DestroidsRage's topic in Movies and TV Series
Was the lost 2 years a short PDF, with pictures of micro/macro working together & Meltran wrestling? Cuz I think I downloaded that way back. I can check my external drive this weekend. Never mind, the PDF I have is what's linked in the post...
