  1. Saw this idea on another board: Maybe they get sealed in so no one gets smooshed by the supply drop...
  2. I thought it looked like a map too. Seeing the pic here, it's definitely the case, since it says (I am here) at the bottom. The symbol on the station at the upper left looks like a medical symbol, so that's probably where Claire, Danielle, and Kate went a few weeks back. Remember that when Jack, Locke & Sayid all explored the hatch at the beginning of the season, they found certain hallways were walled off. This might be the Xed out hallway. Perhaps all the stations have a tunnel leading to the center of the island, but they've all been sealed. Too bad we can't read any of the writing. Anybody with Tivo and HDTV have any better luck? I'd be willing to bet that the blast doors dropped in relation to the resupply plane, but why? To keep the subjects inside in the dark about the resupply plane? A plane that no one out side on the island heard? Maybe there is no plane... that's why the hatch-dwellers aren't allowed out side? And with "Henry" definitely an Other (no surprise there), I have to wonder if he even entered the code at all. Good ep.
  3. In the TV show, they were a deep grey; in DYRL, they were darker, almost black. The notable exceptions were Max & Millia in "Love Drifts Away." They had blue and red engine housings, but the missile pods on the front were grey like everyone else. I'm thinking of doing something similar on my Hase Super1A - a dark green housing, grey missile pods - b/c those are interchangeable - maybe some of the accent color.
  4. Thought I'd drop a line in here, I love this thread. Attached are 2 pics of the schemes I'm considering for my current Super1A. Both pics are for the naked valks, though. I'm trying to figure out what color would be good for the Fast Packs - I'm not pleased with the basic grey. The blue one is for the squadron leader - I'll probably do a neked 1S of this scheme. The brown would be for the CF's
  5. Hey fellas, I've been working on my first Hase VF-1 for a little while now, and have really benefitted from all the wonderfully skilled modelers here. WM Cheng, GunnerX and the lot of you have really advanced my skills. I've reached the fast packs now, and was wondering if there was any prior wisdom to these. Granted, they're pretty simple objects, they'll obviously need a little Mr Surfacer and sanding on the seams, blah, blah. But I'm trying to work out a good way of masking the thruster bells and making the back end look good. I'd love to see Master Cheng's step-by-step of the Super 1A, but that's lost to the ages. So in short, do you guys have any special little techniques you might like to share before I dive into construction?
  6. There were no explosions in Armageddon - The Final Challenge Simply the ultimate Deus Ex Machina ever (dangling from 2 strings and spray painted gold) Any of you who have ever seen this film know what I'm talking about, know the pain, and know that "B" is to this movie as "Vivacious" was a good adjective for NERV's avatar. Those of you who haven't seen it don't know how lucky you are. Makin' me twitch just typing about it.
  7. Still no luck on the Radic Color shirts. I've found a couple of websites that sell them, but I can only get altavista to translate about half of the info. Therefore, who knows if they'd ship international, let alone how much it would cost! I've bookmarked engrish.com and made it part of my morning log-in ritual at work.
  8. What, it's over? Awww, man.... now I feel like I need to do something productive. OK, Mowe, Graham, back to work everybody. On a side note, I like all the designs that Kawamori-san has done on the VF-1 platform. I even think the Stampede valk looks kinda neat, as a space-only fighter. A few too many greeblies for my taste, but still nifty. Now, who here likes the VFS-2? It's an ugly (in my opinion ) bastard, but it's got charm.
  9. Cool, thanks, Stamen, thought I was going crazy.
  10. Err, do you guys mean "Painter's Choice" or "Painter's Touch?" I was also in the market for some new primer, so I stopped by Home Dept. All they had was Rustoleum brand called "Painter's Touch." Do I need to go to Lowe's?
  11. Starship Modeler's got 'em in stock for about $25 + domestic shipping. Sooooo wish I could get one, but not until other models and kitchen/bath remodel are done.
  12. Today's Engrish I googled Radic Color and found an entire clothing line with these characters. I must have one of these shirts! Anyone got any connections in Japan?
  13. Ah! I'm not alone! All the while I thought I was a horrible person who was being punished for my family history of mistreatment to models! Now I know it's a disease! Seriously, I haven't finished a model since 2001. That was my Gundam Ez-8 and a Deathscythe. Since then, I've purchased a Rick Dom, got most of the way finished with a Valley Gunship, about half way through my 10 year old Starfury, and gotten to the wings of a VF-1A. 'Course, I've got visions of putting together a 1/72 Shelf of Awesomeness. But it will probably NEVER-EVER happen...
  14. Wow! At first I liked the design of the 0, but like many others, thought it looked too advanced compared to the VF-1. While I knew it was bigger I never knew how MUCH bigger! Side-by-side, the 0 looks so big and clunky compared to the sleek little 1. Now I want one of these... No! Must finish VF-1A, Starfury and Valley Gunship first!!
  15. Hey all, I've been searching for a while for some good lineart for the VF-1 Battroid. This stuff used to be everywhere, but now I can't find anything. Have tried searching the forums. Does anybody have a source? Orthogonal views would be ideal, but not necessary. I'm just planning the color scheme for my Hase squadron and want to see how it looks in B mode too. Thanks
  16. At present: MG RickDom which has been gathering dust since November. 1/100 ARII Regult, modded the legs for greater poseability, but got bored in the painting. SD Neue Ziel - ripe for 1st airbrush kit - candy red (it reminds me of Maximillian from Black Hole) 1/72 B5 Starfury - first entry in my ambitious (for me anyway) 1/72 "I love these planes" collection. But there's also the landscaping, the bar, master bathroom, blah, blah. Damn house - I got a lot more modeling done in an apartment.
  17. I've noticed everybody here calling all the fighters of Macross "Valkyries" While I love this name for the mecha, is it really correct? I know that the VF stands for "Variable Fighter," VT stands for "Variable Trainer," & I admit I've been wondering about YF... But anyway, I always thought it was VF-1 - Valkyrie VF-4 - Lightning VF-9 - Cutlass VF-11 - Thunderbolt etc... Those were the craft's designations, and that you wouldn't call a VF-11 "Valkyrie" any more than you'd call an F-22 "Tomcat." Discuss...
