did you get a reply before the box? I sent an email a while back with my address and everything and haven't heard anything back.
-
I didn't want to spoil the show by reading and viewing the extras first. My bad.

I'm loving Votoms. Did they ever make any Votoms video games or was the series too old before the advent of video game systems? (Christ we're getting old) Anyway, I can't help but think how perfectly VOTOMs lends itself to a video game. You can go with pretty much any genre and it works. I, for one, would love a huge RPG.

The Wii is ridiculously popular. I moved in with a girl who doesn't play video games ever and we were deciding who would buy what furniture. I told her I would take care of everything in the entertainment center and she was like "ooh can we get a Wii??" Then, my brother calls me a bit later, "My wifey doesn't want me to get any more video game systems but she told me she'd be okay with a Wii." So apparently, chicks dig Wii. PS3 on the other hand? "Hell no, who would spend that much money on a toy??" LOL, Macross collectors should never answer that last question.

No, that's CM's Mospeada offering... although they appear to also be in approximately 1/48 or 1/55 scale also.
-
A 1/48 Aoshima will be exactly the same size as a Toynami MPC if Aoshima borrows from the Imai tradition. Does the Toynami MPC look great next to your 1/48 Yamatos? If it were 1/35 scale it'd be just a tiny bit shorter than your 1/48... as it isi it will be MUCH smaller.
-
If it's a preassembled metal version of the Imai kit then it might prove to just be a more (or less?) rugged version of the Toynami MPC. Seems really silly to me but I'll be one of the suckers paying $100 to import a toy that is pretty much universally scorned on these boards as not being worth $50 in its Toynami incarnation. Hopefully they have an MPC and have figured out where Toynami went wrong.

This is gonna be like the best year ever for an ol' Mospeada fan like myself. I'm more than a little perplexed as to why all these manufacturers are making the toy so SMALL though. I was just playin' with my Gakken 1/35s last night, it's such a better scale... unless you're making a Tread also... I'm also a little concerned that this toy will just be a new take on the Toynami MPC since the MPC was based on the Imai kit and I gotta assume Aoshima would also borrow from that kit since they're currently producing it.
-
while these toys are a lot of fun, and certainly okay for a child under 14, I definitely wouldn't recommend them for a five year old. A 1/72 version of the 1/100 toy (with hands that slid out and landing gears that didn't need removing) would be schweet.

I broke down and bought one... it will eventually get a full review on my site... probably right around the time it will be sold out everywhere.

Macross 25th Anniversary! New TV series coming!

She does almost get raped by a woman in the movie though... that was interesting. Other than that there's just a bit of sexual harassment, not really assault (splitting hairs a bit) in the series. There is an episode dedicated to perverts selling pictures of her panties though. -
I like it! Here we go: Macross TV White Pieces: King: SDF-1 Queen: Minmay with Mic Bishops: Super Valks Knights: MacII Rooks: ARMDs Pawns: CannonFodders Macross TV Black Pieces: King: Boldoza's Palace Queen: Q-Rau Bishops: Glaug Knights: Male Power Armor Rooks: Vritai's Class of Ship Pawns: Regults

Okay, I still don't have a functional computing environment at my new place but I was able to complete the Series 2 review just the same. Check it! I give you... a simulated barrel roll (um, part of one at least )

It's definitely more episodic than most but the character thing is purely subjective. I'm sure we could find many board members who thought the characters were just wonky in each of the other shows (Chirico wasn't winning any personality contests) and that the other shows had more than their fair share of misplaced humor. I thought the humor worked pretty well in Mospeada... not so much in RT's New Gen though.

I think that's the definition of "anime" right there... or certainly the vast majority of it.

All the image quoting here would give A7 an aneurism.

Toynami news on their Beta and 1/100 Fast Packs

You can definitely get replacements from Toynami but God only knows how long it will take. The good news is you won't have to mail everything in to get them. Just send in a request and wait. -

I'm still looking forward to finding a place where it's cheap! Oh well, I'll probably end up paying full cost here in a bit once I'm all moved in, all my furniture has arrived, and all the toys I don't need handy are safely in storage. Christ, since when is moving such a pain in the butt??? If anyone has suggestions where you found it on the cheap I'd love to know!

That episode was purely fluff and completely predictable. Hot actress with an old dude? Hmm, I wonder if she's using him? Nicorette gum being chewed suddenly on an island? I wonder if that will give him away? The creepy scientist talking about the pheramones (sp?) of a spider for no apparent reason? I wonder if that isn't going to come up later? It was cute fan service to give us all a flash of all those dead characters though but otherwise it didn't mean squat. If that episode were somehow scratched out of a future DVD release you wouldn't be missing anything. That said, I wasn't really bored watching it, and it was a nice twist that they were buried alive. All in all, two useless characters are dead without making any impact whatsoever. Lost is Lost. I'm still watching it but I realize that I'm watching it now as a soap opera rather than as some scifi mystery flick.

You know, it just occurred to me that it'd be pretty cool to have all of the premium valks represented in a unified paint scheme (not necessarily this one. Seems odd that they're excluding the VF-0S in this treatment. Honestly, I think it'd be cooler if they just did Angelbirds versions of the VF-0S and the VF-19A.
-
I'll get'em both and keep them in fighter mode to display with my AngelBird.
-
Pure Gold? Only if it also comes with spinners on the landing gears and a pilot that has a grill and a giant diamond-studded necklace.

Macross 25th Anniversary! New TV series coming!
jenius replied to wolfx's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Man, if they prime Japan for a new series by re-hashing Mac7 it almost certainly means they're going to try to lure in an audience of 10 year-olds which bodes poorly for what the new series will be aimed at. Oh well. -
Nothing has been fixed... you'd be getting the old and busted. Shin's will be the first release to incorporate the fixes.
