Yeah, the uniboob doesn't have the big gap of the Arcadia/Yamato offerings so that means fighter mode probably doesn't have the front bulge around the cockpit. Honestly though, I think it took me longer to warm up to the gap right under the thing's chin then it will to a little bulbous-ness missing from fighter.

The new show should be about an early megaroad that lost contact and has a vf1 fleet and is battling rogue Zentraedi so we can get more SDF Macross toys.
-
I hinted at this in the 0D thread, I wouldn't view this as a hit on Arcadia, but maybe the baby of some licensing confusion. Glad they decided to do it.

I'm gonna wait for the Bandai version. Jk

Macross Δ (Delta) - announcement thread
jenius replied to renegadeleader1's topic in Movies and TV Series
Yeah, I think my "valk" was reinterpreted by my phone to be "call". So yes, the 171 would seem to be a logical CF unit still but that sucks for moving toys so.... moving on. Here is a thought, we know nothing about this series except for when it takes place right? It's doubtful that Megaroad is the only ship that vanished without a trace. This series could be about another colony unit that has lost contact. If that were the case, the cannon fodder valkyrie could be something already used (or with a lower number designation) rather than something new. Also, do we know how readily fleets have their fighters replaced? I know in 7 we see the introduction of the 17, the 19, and the 22 to a fleet with 11s. Would the 11 have been replaced by the 171 or would the 11s have been gradually phased out as fighters lost (be they 11, 17, 19, or 22) were replaced with 171s, 25s, or 27s?- 2715 replies

I'm excited also but I don't know when mine will ship, hopefully soon.

That would be flipping Plus on its head where the AI was in love with the pilot. I really wonder what the new cannon fodder call will be.- 2715 replies

Sure you can... but you have to buy three of the three different sizes and then mix and match the rods. It's pretty epic once you do.

Macross Δ (Delta) - announcement thread
jenius replied to renegadeleader1's topic in Movies and TV Series
No offense but 'an aging idol trying to cling to her glory days' sounds like a wretched show to watch. If we get a Mac7 cameo I hope it's Gamlin. Funny twist, Gamlin should be married to a different Jenius girl than Mylene.- 2715 replies

Cedar Pollen Syndrome? I just googled it and learned something new. Oh, also that Delta War thing sounds cool. I hope a future Macross series explores the events closer to the original series. Then again, I'm always happy for new Macross.- 2715 replies

I'm guessing this is going to seem like an Arcadia priced product.

What is Yamato vs. what is a brand new Arcadia design doesn't mean a whole lot. Yamato was going very high end at the end of their run and that appears to be where Arcadia has landed to. Therefore, both companies would just call T-Rex and say something like "We want vehicle Y with approximately X parts." So while the 0D and 19 both were Yamato projects, if they hadn't been they'd probably have come out the same.

I dunno, Mr. K. Hinted repaints weren't really going to be Arcadia's thing. Maybe we'll get white versions for customization.
-
Arcadia didn't do anything Frontier, T-Rex did but again, that's no biggy. To paint in broad swaths, the rumor was Bandai thought a couple licenses would move to them but instead Arcadia used them. So I guess it might be more accurate to say Bandai is a little peeved with BigWest for not making things clear. I doubt it matters much since Bandai has licenses it's obviously focusing on.

Nope, that was a Wonderfest thing, no problems with the limited BW licensing that happens there.

He's right, Yamato commissioned the VF-0D before the YF-19. The release of the VF-19Kai received such positive response that Yamato pushed the 0D back and sped up plans on the YF-19. Yamato then failed before officially teasing the YF-19. I really hope Arcadia is able to build up some momentum at some point. I'm scared for them as a company given the infrequency of their releases, the incredibly low volume, and the exorbitant prices. I also wouldn't want to live and die by the strength of the MacrossZero license so I hope they can figure out a way to revisit SDF Macross in more ways than a GBP + Hikaru reissue. I think there must be something interesting happening with licenses behind the scenes... like Arcadia only has a limited license for Macross Plus and SDF Macross. I heard a rumor that Bandai might be very upset about a couple things Arcadia has done in its short existence.

He did the math for you on the international take since the studios only get a cut of it (I think he said 42% on the previous page). So 116 + 103(.42) = $159.26. Budget was $200. $200-159.26 = $40.74 deficit. That ignores that the movie was extensively marketed beyond the production budget so the true loss is likely about $100Million. This ignores home revenues... but I don't think that matters.

What immediately came to my mind were the occasional clear plastic bits you'll find having been painted when a manufacturer needs incredibly thin plastic that can bend/flex. I think Toynami did it at points with their Alpha toys and while everything else on those toys break I think the little painted clear bits tend to work out alright.- 17720 replies
