The two 1S toys would be strike since they include the cannon, the 1A is super

Maybe I'm generous but it looks like the crotch, back of legs, feet, and head are the biggest differences. I would be happy with a swap out head, crotch, and detail piece for the back of the legs (which could easily plug into the DYRL ports in the back of the legs) and that'd be good enough for me.

I would love an announcement that makes me more certain we're getting the DYRL version... Let alone a TV version. Who has a line at comparison? Maybe they can sell one that can be adapted to be either with some parts swapping.
  4. Have they started doing POs?
  5. It came with DYRL style hands.
  6. Don't forget the missiles to go inside the GBP as another TWE. This thing is going to get expensive.
  7. Lolz... TWE exclusive head.
  8. Ya know... a DX GBP might also come with a gray visor Hikaru head since the head is a ball joint.
  9. Must have gone fast!

Heat can be a problem, I live just south of SF though so I'm my case, it's probably not much of a problem. Age can do it all in it's in though. Does anyone want to post pics of their 1/48 Hikaru in a similar group shot so we can judge?

Obviously I can't swear it hasn't yellowed because I don't have a factory fresh one to compare it to but I can tell you its spent its life in storage other than photo shoots and it is a uniform color throughout. The chest on my Roy toy definitely has yellowed a bit.

Going pure crystal ball since Bandai has given no indications on the matter, I think there's a strong likelihood of some sort of a VF-1S Focker release. Maybe a TV release without super parts like what they did with Hikaru's VF-1J. Since they did a Hikaru VF-1J after the GBP, I think they'll take their time before coming back around to that. In fact, it would kind of make sense to do a Focker VF-1S after the VF-1D.
  13. Meanwhile, on the Yo-yo forums: "OMFG, adults have entire collections of Transformers... some of them never even open them! LOLZ, idiots!" Those who live in glass houses...
  14. I will show the head twist gimmick, I'm surprised no one has talked about it since it's illustrated in the instruction manual. Answers: Gunpod has no impact on the head exposing/twisting gimmick. The stand adapter limits it but doesn't inhibit it entirely. I don't want to rush a review up too quickly... I want to make sure I've handled the toy more so it's not just first impressions. I'm going to transform the toy a few times taking photos of it in all modes in different poses then I'll probably do a transformation guide then a review.
  15. Finished my first transformation to battroid mode. It seems pretty clear the legs were meant to stay on a lot better than they do. They give you a tool to pry the housing open. That tool is totally unnecessary as-is. I hope future variants tighten that up. On the flip side, I wouldn't mind if they loosened up the hips a bit (but maybe that's why the intakes stay attached so firmly in GERWALK/fighter modes). I think a lot of the complaints about parts getting jostled out of position stem from the fact that joints that are normally easy to move are really tight out of the box so people need to man-handle it a bit to get it in the pose they're going for (or to complete transformation). Once the joints loosen up a bit and people get more accustomed to the transformation many of the minor issues will resolve themselves.

We're currently waiting to find out what Macross item will drop in June...
  17. Well it looks great in a photo!
  18. No, that seems like a QC dud of some kind. In Neuromancer's pic you can see the hinges that hold that little fin are extended outward instead of recessed.
  19. Grab the leg fin, press it firmly inward. It's on a sliding hinge and, for whatever reason, that hinge is extended when you first pull the toy out. If you recess the hinge, it won't totally lock it into place, and it will extend again if you hit it hard enough, but it should tighten enough to not be much of an annoyance.

Yeah, when Bandai does a DX GBP I'll pull the Arcadia out and do some color comparisons but for now, it's deep in storage.

Someone asked in my HMR VF-2SS review about the shade of white so I put this photo together, posting it here because they're probably more likely to see it here first

If only there had been news...
  23. Both have been suitably repaired and I would never plan on selling them which softens the blow. The V2 is an original with busted shoulders also. I think the 1/48 plastic is getting brittle so be careful with them... It hardly seemed like I mistreated it when I found a piece of plastic on my lap... Wasn't even using the hook to keep the backpack up yet.
