  1. welp! I'm watching it right now. The battle at the beginning was ok. Saito should be taller and Jin'e got As usual, Yu Aoi is fantastically looking. I'm sure this movie is a nice watch, but :sigh: The negatives I've found so far: I really wish they made this movie a really more serious adaptation. I think the actors they used here have the caliber to make it so. Just disappointed they went, well, I dunno, almost hong-kong style cinema. Can't even really say it's quite chambara enough. At least for me. Guess whoever was or were in charge of this production decided to make this really more mainstream and way too accessible almost generic movie. The positives I found: Nice high-level production value and quite detailed. The actors were great, even if some were typically overacting it *cough*Kanryu*cough. The courtyard mini battle with Saito was actually nicely done even if short like Saito. Oh, did I mentioned Yu Aoi is pure , yet? Anyway, my simple conclusions for it: It is fun movie to watch and all, but there's just so much deliberate wasted potential to cripple it so as just to give it a more mass appeal thing. I say if they should have made it in a more serious adaptation ala the Yamada-films and stuff. It really does have the proper production values and the qualified acting. I mean, in contrast, the old Lone Wolf and Cub TV-edition of the 70's was alot more serious and kickass awesome and that whole series probably had the monetary production budget of a high-school theater play compared to this Kenshin-Live.
  2. hmmm... :hail:
  3. Nicely done paneling! Anyone modded a Hikaru-version on their's, yet?
  4. He's the douchebag that protects scalper pricing. I saw him continuing to troll and spout his bullshit in seibertron-forum even after the TFW-thread was closed. As such, enough of that shenanigan and more TF pics instead!

    Macross 30

So I just pre-ordered the LE thru AmiAmi. Would've been nice if it had some Ishtar art, tho.
  6. ok. Both Seibertron and TFW are blurbing this: http://www.seibertro...amazonuk/26472/ http://www.tfw2005.c...-for-35-176580/ Apparently, amzn.uk is accepting pre-orders for the Masterpiece Prime MP-10 (Hasbro-edition most likely). http://www.amazon.co.../dp/B00AJJ6H0E/ For just £34.99 (about US$56 or so in current exchange-rate) Somebody at seibertron-forum already verified with an amzn-chat rep that the item is being sold by amzn.uk directly and not by any thirdparty. So, good news to all TF-fans who can order this! And yeah, even tho I already have one, I'm still importing it. Much cheaper than TRU's US-pricing shenanigans. Estimated shipping is Feb/2013.
  7. Is that so? Well, guess I'm gonna temper my expectations a bit regarding Kenshin-Live's swordfights. I was hoping a bit more, shall we say, nicer swordfighting stuff since the OVA's impressive rooftop fights were pretty much directly copied from the old Shinsengumi Chronicles movie. Heck! Most of the stuff in Tsuioku Hen OVA were almost about plagiarized adapted from that old movie, anyway.
  8. Yeah. They're both long and slow, but the payoffs were pretty good. I'm actually looking more into how the presentation and acting in Kenshin-Live were in comparison/contrast to the Yamada-films, which are pretty excellent dramas. I mean, you like Kenshin-live alot in your review so I presumed it's really all good and not just another lame anime-to-live adaptation by the Japanese. If I may and if you haven't seen them, I would suggest a further comparo with Sword of Desperation and Samurai I Loved regarding the swordfights in Kenshin-Live. These two have very good acting and stuff and the stories were even rather longer/slower, but the damn swordfights in them are really boss! Much, much more intense than both Twilight Samurai and Hidden Blade, imho.
  9. Nice review, kicker773. Megumi is played by my idol Yu Aoi, so it should be good. Based on her alone. Anyway, hope we get it distributed here in the US. btw, do you think this Kenshin-live is better or about the same league as these two (if you'd seen 'em, that is):
  10. cute. but it still looks like a dork next to that Hikky Skull Leader.
  11. Well, if you're using Amzn.jp as basis, then it's all good as they list the upcoming Macross Plus BD as All Regions. At any rate, just surprised that Zero-BD is listed as region-A by amzn even tho the required region-logo is missing. edit: Incidentally, good news, everyone! Seems like the Amzn pre-order pricing for Plus-BD has now been lowered to 13,095y! My acct states they're gonna charge me 14,042y instead of the original 15,600y. Shipping-fees incl. Hope it gets even lower!
  12. That's weird. I only have the R2J, but CDJapan lists Zero-BD as region-free. I don't remember anyone mentioning that there was any region-coding on it, either. BV's site does not specify any region-coding: http://product.banda...em_no=BCXA-0062 Is Zero-BD really just region-A? edit: Yeah, I still don't see any region-coding symbol based on the Zero-BD pics from here: http://linkai8425.wo...icture-updates/ In fact, the only Japan-BD I own that has the region-code A symbol on it is my Air-BD . The rest of my meager Japan-BDs all seems to be missing the region-A symbol (DYRL, Frontier, Nadesico, Amagami-SS). ; The region-coding symbol should be like the example I've attached, alongside a couple of sample anime japan-bds (one with the symbol and one without the symbol):
  13. Got my $7 FoC-Prime last week. He's kinda ok even with the tiny head, but what's up with the Urkel-ankles?
  14. Aren't all BDs from Bandai-Visual region-free? Have they changed policies recently?
  15. fyi. not sure for how long, but Dudicus is now at US$47.99 at amzn: http://www.amazon.com/Transformers-A1051-G2-Bruticus/dp/B007MCNI30/
  16. fyi. http://product.banda...em_no=BCXA-0719 msrp: 17850y preorder up in AmJ: http://www.amazon.co.jp/マクロスプラス-Complete-Blu-ray-Box-河森正治/dp/B00ANIC62E/e edit: just preordered it and AmJ is gonna charge me 13600y plus the usual 2000y for intl express-shipping fees, so 15600y all in all. hopefully AmiAmi or others have better preorder deals. release date is 6/21/13. ANN has a blurb: http://www.animenews...-on-bd-in-japan
  17. Well, the Fruiticons and FoC-Shocky are at $11.99 each right now at amzn. FoC-Prime is at $6.99 and FoC-Jazz is at $6.29. fyi...
  18. Either that, or the scalpers clean stock again. I had the movie-1A in the cart, but changed my mind since it really wasn't much of discount anyway even with the 20% shipping thingy (total is $100 with ems). Considering this time of the year, that is.
  19. fwiw, Blast Off and Onslaught have great Fruiticon-colors. The rest are quite meh to me, especially Brawn's boring green. On other toys, I'm definitely getting voyager-class Blaster, but I'm not that keen on the Soundwave/SoundBlaster versions, tho. I'm still on the fence of getting TRU-Thundercracker. It's been shelfwarming the local TRU here for the last month or so.
  20. I hear ya. Saw the Fruiticons at Target yesterday. At $15.49 each (not incl sales-tax). They're just not worth that. Seriously. I'll just wait for a damn sale at about $10 each.
