That conflicting line art thing drives me nuts! I have to go and look at it a few times before deciding in some cases. I've even gone to my wife and said, "what do you think." I don't envy you, but I know there's gonna be a lot of happy kit recipients out there. Making the world a better place, one model at a time . - MT

Thanks for the link Guld. I keep checking and haven't seen it until today! - MT

Those look great! I always did like those sculpts - even with the thick details. I bet you used Future on the canopies. Tell those guys standing around on the block to get back to work! - MT

Thanks yui1107! I love the 723 paint design. - MT

The good thing about black is that it hides the yellowed white . Looks good, especially for a first. - MT

Thanks guys. Spares are good, I've reused several "failed" attempt assemblies. - MT

I think the price sounds right for the item. It's 1/200 so I GOTTA order mine! - MT

Pin vise, couldn't live without mine; either one! The valk looks great considering the subject. That kit is a pain to build and paint - especially in white. Great job! - MT

You can't really mix them because they'll just overlap each other. But if the vendor in your area carries the cammo line, see if you can order what you want. I think you got the Fusion stuff; there is a regular line too; here's color splotches: http://www.kpg-industrial.com/products/non...mouflage_paint/ Hope that helps. I've got a few cans and love it. Plus the newer cans have a fine automotive spray valve on them for a smoother finish (no, I don't own stocks in Krylon - but I should! ). - MT

I spent today making the mechanism that folds the last ramp section as the ramp retracts; one motor, two actions. I used heavy line and it reeled into one of those badge holders (available at your stationery store). I took it apart and put two lines on the reel. One went left and the other right to the towers previously posted. It worked great! Then I realized it would take a lot of force to open it back up . Two steps forward, one back. On the other hand, I ordered two more Hitech HS-125MGs to fit into the ramp. So now I'll have three different ways of folding/unfolding the ramp segments. But at least it will be reliable when I'm done. The two current gearcase mechanisms work great. I should be back to work on it in a week; I hope! - MT

Look for the Krylon Cammo paint colors (like for ATV's and other projects). Same price and they sell a light and medium grey color. Dead flat too! perfect stuff for models. Would stick well with slight surface prep on ABS. - MT

That's a great idea! I might "brow" it! - MT

OOOPS - Double posted Everything looks great guys! I was inspired to get back to the Daedalus now that I got time again. My children loved the "Gojira" job. We watch the old flicks all the time. We just gotta update to the 2000 onward movies. Ron, do you have a shelf or soemthing with the flightdeck painted on it? It's a nice touch.

I was looking at your photos earlier today and thought, "it's time to get back on the Daedalus". Everything looks great guys! My children saw "Gojira" and thought it was cool. They love those old flicks; we gotta get the more modern DVDs; 2000 onward.

The finished background looks awesome! Definitely 1/72nd scale accurate. I'm just waiting for battle stations alarm to sound looking at the picture . - MT

How small are those parts? If they are as small as I think, you can heat some plastic sprues and stretch them out. The long strands can be cut and you get easy antennae. They also taper out naturally so they look like antennae. Real easy to do. Great work overall! - MT

I thought I would check in after a while to see how this thing turned out. I'm disappointed with the rounded chest pieces and the really long shnoz on that thing. The opening missile bays are a really sweet touch though! - MT

It looks great all the same! That kit takes a little work to make it look cleaned up anyhow; it's got some bad seem areas to work on. - MT

Looks great and on the realistic side! - MT

Bandai 1/72 Scale Macross Frontier Plastic Models
MechTech replied to Graham's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I wouldn't rule out a quality sculpt for Bandai. A lot of their kits have awesome detail in them (most anime stuff doesn't have a lot of panel lines or details to start with). They've also got some heavy guns to bear in the molding department. The 1/20 Votoms kit I purchased has awesome detail and a few multi - slide molded sprues. Painting will be a piece of cake with the way the parts are made. They make it easier on the modeler instead of putting seems in the middle of everything. I also haven't had a styrene quality issues with them before. Other well known brands I have (not Hase). - MT -

I bought the Robotech packaged kit about 20 years ago. I walked into a unique collectors store and it was sitting up on a shelf right above the doorway with tons of dust on it, unopened. This was a couple years after all the kits were sold off the shelves. I got it home and thought, "Thank God, this is like the holy grail of Macross stuff - awesome!." Even when I saw it in the store I played it down. It was an "expensive" $38.00 . - MT

Try looking up the top of the main for customs under the "robographics" thread (pinned area) - or- http://macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=21527. He might be able to hook you up with a set. - MT

You mean these? If that's the case, yes, 1/100. All accessories (unlike other kits like this) are 1/100. - MT

I haven't seen carrier stuff (please share if you have) but... http://store.houseofhobbies.com/he1acgrsueq.html and http://store.houseofhobbies.com/he1acairfope.html click on the photos to enlarge them. I've got them and they're great! Add some orange paint to the figures and voilla! - MT
