Any idea when Messer preorders will go up? It worries me too since it's been there pretty consistently. My YF-30 doesn't have that, but it's not outside the realm of possibility that they got it right then and messed it up here.

I'd probably give the nod to Alto in the -29. But he and Brera are neck and neck. None of the Delta pilots compare imo. They're all too stuck on fighter-mode, almost like the VF-171 pilots in Frontier. But Messer would be the closest Man I still remember how badass Messer (and Arad) seemed in the first episode. After rewatching Frontier recently I found it pretty funny how much of a grouch Alto was. Dude was seriously high-strung. Hayate's laidback nature is a nice contrast. Too bad

That ridge behind the cockpit is just a mistransformation like the crooked nose cone right?? I gotta say I'm not a huge fan of the VF-31's nose and canopy shape but that Messer paintjob is still sexy

If no one answers this in the two or so years it will take me to get my Japanese to a level where i can actually read the Macross: The Ride collected editions I have sitting on my bookshelf I will definitely come back to this thread and let you guys know.

Damn so Aisha ended up working for Chaos? That's a cool connection but also kind of depressing. Based on what we've seen from Delta and Frontier, working for Chaos must be one hell of a downgrade. I wonder what her reasoning was? It sure seemed like SMS gave her pretty much free reign. Maybe there was something she wanted to investigate in the Brisingr cluster but since SMS (apparently) has no presence there so she had to transfer?

Thanks guys. I'll just assume it has been standard (or at least readily available) equipment since SW1 then. Another unrelated question: Is there a graphic or map of the galaxy (maybe based on what we've been shown in Frontier and Delta) that shows the (rough) locations of the various colonies and alien homeworlds?

As a HUGE EWF fan, this mashup is AWESOME! I'm actually mad I hadn't heard it before now. The reverse version isn't bad either but the original EWF music is superior

Speaking of reboots and rehashes. I'd love to see an OVA retelling Macross M3, just cuz I'd love to see all the valks from that era (VF-9, VF-5000, Variable Glaug!) with modern animation. And on the general topic of life after Delta. I gotta give props to Delta cuz I've been rewatching Frontier and Delta has made it seem 10 times more awesome in comparison. The Valk battles alone are on another level, and they do a lot of cool things with the composition of the shots and stuff. And ironically I'm kind of curious to rewatch Delta for the additions it made to the universe/setting and for some of the cool stuff from the earlier episodes (Arad actually being effective in combat? Good times).

Watching the Delta series had convinced me I didn't care about any of the valks except the 31A, but seeing Messer's 31F there makes me remember how much I like it.

Is there a list of the playable mecha in this game? Is it pretty much the same as in Macross 30, or is there a bigger selection like in some of the PSP games?

As shitty as that Megazord looks, I'm reserving judgement until we see what it actually looks like in the film. Everything else has grown on me -
Quick question about the eye-tracking tech that was first shown in Macross Zero (that Roy used to target and intercept a volley of missiles). Was that some experimental tech that wasn't actually implemented in mass-production valks until around the time we saw it again in Frontier? Or is there mention of it having been implemented earlier and simply not shown before Zero due to out-of-universe reasons (ie Kawamori not having come up with it yet)? If it was implemented in other valks pre-Frontier, are there any specifics about when and in which valks?

That sounds awesome! Can't wait to read it. Also I caught up with all the issues so far, consider me another loyal fan. Thanks a lot for the advice guys. I ended up starting a project set on an as-yet-unmentioned backwater planet called Cheílos (Greek for edge apparently), set at around the same time as Delta, but with little to no connection to the events of that series. I'm not going to be too much of a stickler for the canon but I do think utilizing the existing setting as much as possible is part of the fun (and challenge) of writing fanfiction. I'm really excited about this one though, can't wait to share it with you all.

Quick one for you guys. What do you think would be a reasonable timeframe for a certain VF to be in military service past the end of its mass-production? For example on some backwater frontier planet, could a valk like the VF-11 have seen continued use by the local NUNS garrison for ten years after it was supposed to begin being phased out? How about twenty?

Gotta say I love the little technical notes you add at the end of some chapters. A cool way to expand the canon for those who may be unfamiliar with some of the sources you're referencing (like me with VF-X2). Reminds me of some of the volume notes in Boku no Hero Academia. Any plans to do something similar with the modified VF-4 and VF-19? Or are you saving those details for within the story itself? Need to catch up on this series. I had read the whole thing back when it was on chapter 40 something, but now I don't remember it well enough to start where I left off. I think I'm gonna read it again soon. I've been itching for more Macross material since Delta didn't quite do the job. Random thoughts since this is probably the thread for them: I've always toyed with the idea of writing a Macross fanfic, but felt my knowledge of the lore was too limited to avoid contradicting the continuity in some way or just not doing it justice. As much as I love the series, the language barrier means vast parts of the lore are somewhat lost to me. But I've been feeling the itch again and I think now I might give it a shot anyway and try my hand at a somewhat self-contained story. The only other fanfic I've written is a Harry Potter one in a similar vein and that turned out fairly well. Plus I've definitely gotten a lot stronger as a writer since then, so why not? I just need to decide on when and where to actually set it.

Just stumbled onto this thread (no idea how I'd never been in it before) and read the first chapter. Awesome stuff man, I'm looking forward to reading the rest. For now I'm getting some Frontier vibes from it with the setup. But I'm glad one of the characters we'll be following is a female pilot. I've always said Macross needs more of those.
