  1. Well the theme has worked for the last 50+ years why change now? I mean this is what you get when people slavishly watch garbage for years and then drop it because it's beyond bad, but then jump on "the next great thing!" that's a clone of the first. Don't like the show, don't support it by watching it. But they have tried to make it work. They pulled enough regulars from other shows in an attempt to! They know it's a dog, but they trying anyways. @ David Hingtgen, yeah LIFE isn't too bad. But more of the cliche slow speaking red haired cop? Take out the ZEN stuff and it's pretty bad.
  2. There are dozens of pieces of line art on the released DVD's. You should rent them. There is also the artbook for the series...
  3. I've never really liked the designs in M7 mainly because they just because too Metran with all of the curves. Toss in the healthy resemblance to Gundams and not even the somewhat interesting, though still very Patlabor, design was very good(looks more like a cop than anything).
  4. It's not only a single country. @ valkyrie13, There is quite a difference between written and the spoken word. Plenty of people out there can speak well, but can't diagram a sentence and vise versus! ------ Man RY! Two models at the same time!!
  5. The entire idea is quite fabulous! I completely love the idea of have translated articles from magazines as well as up-to-date information on current anime mecha.
  6. Yeah you can do a ton of changes. But would it even look remotely like the material that attracted we english viewers 20+ years ago? Would it be near the story that is told in either? Just look at the tangent that SC had to go to in order to move away from their basis and make a somewhat original universe out of it!! And the movie would have to be a logical predecessor of SC in order for it to have traction within the RT community.
  7. Never got past the "Lex love angle" did you.
  8. Actually it was a little of both. But mainly when company's close down it often takes 1-3 years before the final paperwork is completely done and it's totally official. Now will they attempt to sell their licenses to other company's or will they sit on them until the contract expires, yearsssss down the road, and they revert back. Hell, the number of abandoned and held licenses of anime & manga has had to have reached 2000+ the last 10-15 years.
  9. Yeah, they've been picking and choosing what they 'think' works and what doesn't and it's turned into a mess. Especially with the SuperGirl material. Looks like they are going to use the Lex love angle from the comics but without the rest. But she doesn't matter anyhow because they've had other Kryptonians on the show, so it kills the impact quite a bit. It's like watching a slow-mo Rocky fight scene.
  10. Very much the example of a one trick pony. Go through A to B. Have to go back to A with 'something' from B to get to C. Wash repeat throughout game. That just described 90% of all of their games, though it does cover 80% of ALL games on the consoles(LOL!). Halo has always been thought to be part of the Marathon universe most of the informed Halo fanbase sees that. And I'm not a 'hater' of halo, nor am I a 'hater' of Bungie, but it's as clear as your fanboi posting the Bungie got lazy after Marathon's success and it shows in their designs.
  11. It's an author thing. Generally the author's name is splashed on the cover like this. And yes BOLO's XXXII's for the win!!
  12. They can get nailed just like you could nail someone for using your designs without credit or getting liscencing for them. Expect a complete redesign at every level similar to either BSG2, Transformers, or Smallville.
  13. Gotta wonder how long the titles they have will stay in limbo though... Damn company's hold them for years.
  14. Many players have felt that way from the very beginning. Halo is popular mainly because of the multi-player, the Red VS Blue videos, and MS's hype-machine. Halo's always been a 'next gen' DOOM anyways. Bungie is a one trick pony and their next game will prove that.
  15. Starting over? I can't buy into that line of reasoning. I think that would've leaked out and turned into a shitstorm of articles about how Satelite and Kawamora were at odds over the production. Also if they have indeed started over that means quite abit of the production was utter crap from one of their viewpoints, was cost projected through the roof, or the productions requirements needed people that they could in no way schedule to work on the project. To be honest since they have projected the show for 2009 and with Kawamora having a rather full plate the last few years, epsecially this year, I think that they have shown mainly more current pre-production material(including the video capture). Getting the singer/actress this year, they'll have to tailor the voice material to her, and more than likely using the "animate-to-the-actors" method of character animating. Both of which require time to do. Getting ahead on the CG work for a weekly show. All of which demands scheduling and timing to get done. I think that it's just a simple matter of getting the needed items in place.
  16. In the US you can paint, draw, or duplicate ANY copyrighted design. However you MUST ask and receive their permission first to sell it in any way. Also, if the copyright holder is a right big Tom Cruise about it, you can't show to the public in any mass gathering or in a group unless you given permission. In ALL cases you MUST credit the design to the copyright holder. Don't forget there are at least 2 copyright holders. The Intellectual Copyright and standard Copyright. If you only get the consent of 1 then you'll have to ask a judge to hear the case, because neither can over-ride the other. However, and this it the drop dead funniest part, many times buildings, artworks, and other designs that are copied into a work are conveniently voided if the person who did the creation claimed to be an "artist".
  17. I thought that it was pretty flat. Lack of compelling advertising set-up did them in on that front. They also had some fairly bad decisions made during it's writing. Flyer should've stayed "assumed" dead, the whole redemption arc will be extremely passe' because it's been done to death, which would've allowed them to better focus on other characters. But it's falling quite into the place where I said it would nearly from the beginning, they'll work as a team.. blah, blah, blah, S2 is now officially S3-4 of X-men. Plague girl is basically a language extension and 'the' mystery element for the season. Takers on what the next new characters language will be!! They'll need a french/german soon and if it follows form than they'll be one of the "badguys". Element Lad, ROFL!, needed to be someone else though I'm not gonna condemn their actor pick. Still trying to figure out where 'better off dead' Peter got his 'cold/electric' power.
  18. Here's why I can't buy that statement. It takes several million dollars for on-site filming and a metric-poo-ton of scheduling to get everyone there in the first place. Yet on-lot studio filming costs basically the same amount of money and time to do. The FX costs would only be slightly higher because they went with suits and not digital creatures, so few FX materials would need to be built and after they were built it would only be a matter of animating them. It's just a lack of wanting to follow the established universes. Hell, only Predator was based on Earth and only P2 was based near civilization with the Alien series being nearly completely ship based.
  19. On number 1 I agree with though scheduling always opens up, but 2 years ahead.... naw a single year maybe and then your still spending months on polishing "finished" episodes with very little monetary return. Any advertiser would be hard pressed to put up the money even for the hallowed "Macross" name sake. On number 2.... I thought Engage Planet was finished already? But then again waiting until 2009 is a full 1.5 years. Even if EP was still running they'd have over 8 months to polish the macross episodes. The one thing I will buy into though would be that they learned ALOT from M0 and are giving themselves enough lead time so they don't have to push through FUGLY episodes.
  20. That's a fairly un-informed remark. Especially given how nearly every design was reworked several times(take a look at the concept work from Perfect Memory). Also the Human forces were made side by side with the Zentraedi and both had a specific role to fill out personable "Hero" designs and unlikable "Bad Guy" designs. The fact that people associate the Zen ships with turds tells me that they very much got the reaction that they wanted. "Hate the Bad Guy. Love the Heroes!"
  21. It's been months since I even touched mine, but I had to rework it 7-8 times before it started to look and feel 'right' from the various angles. I can tell you one big thing though. Lower the amount of geometry that you are currently working with because your just making more work for yourself than needed. Also something that I found useful was to place a cylinder placeholder where the side thrusters are because it'll give you a much needed reference point mainly due to the shoulder area being the key issue for getting the body to look good. The side view looks pretty solid though the frontal top needs more slope. *i may have to break this model out again.....*
  22. Yeah, but even then a full year of hype? This isn't a video game. LOL! I see it in 3 ways. A. He wants a REALLY polished (think M0 & M7 merged together graphics wise) high level bookend to the macross universe, but than again 6 months is a reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeallllllllllly long time to polish an anime B. He's going for HD levels and Macross detail at HD levels is not quickly done nor cheap, especially for 3D. C. He doesn't want to even think about tangling with a Gundam show for ratings. But there isn't anyway that they can pull a GunBuster 2 with this!
  23. I finally got around, not that I was in a hurry mind you, to seeing the trailer. ...... .... ... .. ??? This sequel reminds me of what happened to a woman author when she hear that "woman can't write strong sexual female characters". Her next book was 40% sex as were many of her books afterwards. Basically it looks like the studio listened to the "WTF! PG-13??" complaints and brought in 2 completely ametur Kevin Smiths wannabes and told them to make an "R" movie, and they've turned out a "Billy & BobbyJoe Vs The Space Aliens" gore flick. Why oh why could they have not gotten somebody with ability and experience like John Carpenter!!
  24. RAW resolution yes, or did but not anymore with the newer HD cameras. Clarity no. HD doesn't have the grain limiter that 35mm has. http://www.filmschoolonline.com/sample_les..._HD_vs_35mm.htm Either way it doesn't matter when a show/movie is crap. ----- Man! I wish they'd release SOME footage or final designs! This waiting is nutz!
  25. Naw, way too bulky, user unfriendly, and virtually no hope of industrial adoption. Touch screens have been around for 20+ years. Can you really call it 'new' when all you do is copy something else?
