Gamer me, however, is darkly wondering if some anime studios are celebrating the destruction of a competitor studio apparently known for actually paying their employees (as well as reviewing security around their properties). In my middle age, I no longer just assume that everyone wants to be the Lawful Good Paladin...

A thought occurred to me while typing a comment on CBT.com on this topic: The NUNS (and it's frontier Kite) and the redesigns for Macross: The First, to me, are clearly both artistic liberties as well as legal moves (when you think about the still existing cold war between Bigwest & Tatsunoko) but could the creation of the VF-0 (and the resulting retcon of the Macross back story) also be legal moves? Has anyone done a timeline of the creation of the various Macross properties and concurrent legal events to see a possible picture forming?

Lets not bring that up (although I still think the folks at FASA had NO CLUE how radioactive those pictures/imagery they 'bought' from TCI until they realized too late in court)... What if CBS loses the court case? What implications for the already filmed portions of STD?

I just wish that they went with Fuller's original idea: Anthology-based story telling. Such a better idea than what we ended up getting... and an update about the Lawsuit.

Well, I saw the movie yesterday evening with my Kid and his posse of fellow High schoolers. It was better than I thought. Yes, the humans were not as good but I totally enjoyed the mindless blink and they are dead moments. The one-sided air battle vs Rodan, where all the pilots die one by one ID4 style was a nice touch... 8 out of 10 Halflings. Lots of things to chew over for the next film (assuming there is still interest or time left on the contract)?

Do you think that the Studios, like us, are waiting for 2021 before going directly to Japan to discuss the possibility of doing a Live Action Macross platform in the US? That assumes that the suits even think there's a market for it...?

I PM'd Nerotic on FB. IDK if he'll mention it (he's not talked too much about Macross to my knowledge but between him and that Lawyer, they are the only two I know off who have in the past). I'm still wait & see on this (I'm old and I distrust everything until I see it on NPR LOL)

They could either update the time to reflect modern concerns (in stead of some unknown war in the M1990's, how about a post 9/11 global civil war/Jihad when the ASS-1 visits now or soon-ish?) or stay the course and make the timeline changes AT 1999...
