The startrek kits usually use 3 C cell batteries installed in the stand. A valk is too small to use fiber optics in anywhere except the cockpit for small panel lights. You would want to install blue LEDs in the engines and thats a whole other setup. Ask some of the guys in the Star Trek forums at Starship Modeler and they can tell you all you would want to know.

Looks great! But look out Valk #2 is nearing completion My hikkie version will sport the DYRL finish with the full loadout of UUM-7 missile pods. I like the fact you took a chance on doing a custom finish and squadron. Now get moving on the dio I work weapons in the airforce so if you need advice on storage setups just ask.

The resin gear holds up just fine, Just dont display the model in front of a window or really warm light and you shouldnt have a problem. I had a set of resin gear tavel in the back of my car from utah to florida with no problem.

Mechleader,yup that is one of the 1/48th UD valks i have im working on the other one right now. Nice work guppy! I like the different take on the low Vis scheme.

Maison Ikoku was awesome. I think the problem with pace also comes with what the viewer expects from the title. The other macross series moved at a relatively quick pace this one just seemed to plod along in comparison. Maison was supposed to be like the way it was to make the viewer say "enough already tell her you love her" M7 on the other hand wouldnt have been as bad if they changed basaras song up more often than they did. Theres alot of Fire Bomber songs out there but they reused the same 3 or 4 throughout..

The main difference i have seen,also what makes me not like M7 as much, is series length. SDF TV had 36 episodes to convey a large story which made the story move very quickly and kept you interested. M7 has 50+ episodes intotal to tell a story roughly the same size as SDF TV but seemed to drag its heels doing it until the last 10 episodes. Overall the series is ok but really needed alot more work. There were too many episodes of the band getting to the next gig and wondering where Basara went to that have nothing to do with advancing the overall story. The whole are Max and Milia divorced or not wasnt cleared up well enough i think, nor were any of the other character love interests. Like Evangelion it raised more questions about the characters than they could ansewr in the alloted time. I dont hate the series but it isnt my first choice on a rainy sunday for viewing.

Thanks guys. Considering this thing WAS built as the strike option to begin with im suprised it went back together at all. This is as far as i can get on it for now the weatherng is done but i have to wait for the Ultimate Valk Ultimate decal set to get here, I ordered one from devin, He is even going to throw in a set of Skull squadron markings for the tail of this one. With the decal sheet i hae now and the one he is sending ill be able to dress both these up quite nicely. What else are you guys working on? While these are sitting and waiting i might get my VF-0S back out and finish it Then ill finish decaling my SV-51 Ivanov.

Oh i think Mike is way above my level. I can still learn a thing or two. I look at my stuff and i see the flaws. I look at stuff like mikes or WM Chengs and i am sometimes speechless, even when they pick out the flaws.

Id love to go in on this but i wont be able to until January at the earliest.

Even if i had a Yammie id still want the model. Its got so many different details compared to the toy.

Nice finish Mechleader. What color are you using for the brown base on that? Well i got the Max 1S together. Now to start the weathering to make it look like it has been through the Milia mechgrinder and taught the grinder a thing or 2. I used the "Exposed" option for the fuselage on the nose since i plan on making some mechanics for it. So far i have just done a line wash for the details, postshading and some pastel work. Notice the blown away outer flap on the right wing. I still have a lttle more to do on the weathering but what do you think? I also put excessive scorching around all the verniers on it from the over use from all the manuvers being pulled.

Why would he do that. If he taugt all of us he would be out of a job

Heres the Max 1S after having the paint fully stripped off, resprayed white and the base detailint started. After the detail paint i will seal it with a acrylic clear coat, then decals, and then i will heavily distress the finish to represent the fighter after his fateful encounter with Milia. I know Max got hit around the nose area and on the front left of the "chest" plate. Ill also be adding heavy streaking to the fuselage to represent overstressed hydraulic and oil lines that had begun to leak from the tight manuvers and G forces he was pulling

Try using Ronseal acrylic varnish. Its a concentrated version of the PollyS/Testors formula. It comes out of the can milky in color but dries crystal clear. 2.50$ goes a long way too. Just use water or alcohol to thin it and airbrush it on. It even dries smooth if applied with a brush. It wont fog like testors glosscote since its not a laquer base.

What about some 12 inch ones for those of us who have the 1/48 resin kits? For the DYRL? valks it could be the "Summer 84" logo and for the M+ ones it could be the standard emblem with the tese center text around them.. Just an idea.

My workbench is like a nonstop assembly line i swear. Now that rex is almost complete i can allot more time for these 2 beauties. The one on the left is my new Ultimate detail Strike Valk, still undergoing construction and almost ready for paint. It will be finished in the DYRL Hikaru red markings. The one on the right is my old UD Strike. I disassembled it and used the leftover fighter version parts from my new kit to make it into the fighter version. It will be wearing DYRL Max blue and represent his aircraft undergoing maintenance after his fight with Millia.

My avatar is Metal Gear Rex from the game on the PS1 and GC. I also scratchbuilt a model of it since none was available i have pics of its 95% complete form in the whats on our workbench thread. Go have a peek. Im going to make a better one in january when i get back from deployment, I want to see if SSM might cast it but i dont want to say more until i actually have the master made. This one was easy to make so the second one should be quicker and better
