  1. Can i do the proof build for your kit mike? PLEASSSSEEEE! Look at my online name, comeon how can you resist . Ill pay early for a pre release kit if you want to work out bugs. Ill even keep it secret. oops
  2. Meh... for a Tamiya product im not impressed. I get better weahering on my tanks using the methods i already have. The tamiya sets lack texture. If you want any tips on my methods feel free to ask
  3. Coby send me a PM with the price for miniG Id love to get one. If it turns out well enough ill even let you use the pics for boxart. Im working on my 2nd UD strike right now, Just finishes a little preshading . The key to this kit is take it one step and part at a time.
  4. Thanks i hope i was able to capture the look and feel of the game character. Im still suprising myself with this thing. i wanted a model of it when i played MGS on the PS1 and now 7 years later i have it
  5. Whats the Tamiya weathering set i havnt heard of that one yet? Is it available in the UK? Or is it because im always looking at MIG pigments and artists pastels that i didnt bother to look at tamiya for a weathering set
  6. Dean Id hold off on that kit for a while until you have experience with resin kits. They can be a bear. Also the Hobbyfan one IS the cheapest one around because its a recast or copy of the Club-M one. Recasts are generally frowned upon but this one doesnt get as much flak because of its rarity and there seems to be a shift at some point of the creators customer service attitude. If you can get one i say hold off on building it for at least 3 more years until you have alot more experience under your belt.
  7. REX is now 95% done. I just have the smaller details to add tomorrow. I have assembled all the major components and he is now recognizable for the massive weapon of destruction he is.
  8. Good models to work on that will still look good if you make a mistake are tanks. Any excess glue or botches in the paint can be worked into the final finish to look like regular wear and tear. I have seen some weird stuff on real tanks.
  9. I second that notion. I have recieved top notch service from the people Gundamhead listed. I hope to do more buisness with them in the future
  10. Backpack detailing DONE! Some small seams to fill and sand and its off to paint. All thats left now are the arm joints for the railgun and radar, the crotch mounted beam laser and some small markings. This beast has 14 medium range ballistic missilc launchers installed . 3 in each knee and 8 on the back unit.
  11. I hear ya Jesse. I think SSM would be good for him though because they have higher traffic and even non macross fans on there would buy it for what it is COOL LOOKING! SSM just has a better customer service history at the moment. SMT does replace lost or broken parts it just takes forever,
  12. Since Gundamhead created the master couldnt he strike a deal with SMT to get his masters back then let SSM produce it. It shouldnt be too difficult. Or did SMT buy the masters of of him?
  13. some of you asked so here it is. I have donr more work on MG Rex parts tonight. The backpack/missile launcher part. It is ready for final shaping and details. the rail gun and and radar pieces will attach to arms which attach to this. If all goes well the prototype rex should be complete by this weekend. Now that i know how all the pieces go together i will be able to make the masters in january with a higher level of detail and more refined finish than this one.
  14. Being in the military "waterless beach" is slang for desert. I wont have much time for scratchbuilding the masters for rex there if you know what i mean. but in the meantime check out the whats on our workbench thread ive done more for the prototype rex.
  15. Rex will be finished soon enough. I was working on him one day and turned around to see a closet of kits that needed completion so im clearing out a few of those. This rex is a test to see what i would have to do to to make it. The one ill be making for casting purposes wont be finished until early february. I have to go visit a waterless beach for 4 months first Jade when will you be puting the finishig touches on your valk?
  16. Thanks guys. Keep an eye out here for pics of the YF-21 since that will be getting its finishing touches soon. I have most of the decals on it now i just need to do a little more postshading, paint the wheel wells, install the landing gear, and clear coat it.
  17. No offense taken Were both getting old i think I have been building models since i was 5, Im 29 now. Think i have enough experience
  18. Im not hijacking it I just thought you might want to see what i had done so far. It actually wont take me very long to get it finished from this point.
  19. So hows it coming along? Or is it done? I still have to do the landing gear on mine and the exauhst vector plates. Lets see what you haven man?
  20. Excellent work Jade. heres a quick glimpse of mine with 2 closeups of the cockpit. I hope to hit this up during the week and this weekend.
  21. Thank you jade. This was actually a fun kit to build even with the little problems it had. I actually enjoyed scratchbuilding the replacement parts. I would love to do anoter one but i dont think this kit will ever be available again at the price i paid for it. I have some custom ideas in mind, think RED
  22. I know its been a long while since i started this and alot has happened. I finally got a weekend to finish up alot of projects that just needed final touches. I present you the 1/48 scale YF-19. She finally has her decals. When it was complete it still looked a little clean so i gave it some postshading to make it look like Isamu had just gotten back from a tough days flying against Guld on the test range. I threw in a shot if it next to a 1/72 hase VF-1S for size comparison.
  23. Heres 2 1/35 scale resin cast kits i put together recently. The tracked tank is a CVRT Scorpion(combat vehicle reconiasance tracked) the 6 wheeled one is a CVRW Saladin. These are a warmup for my upcoming conversion of a Chieftan MK5 tank to represent the one used in Reign Of Fire. I will be finishing rex shortly i just felt the need to work on somethig a little simpler at the moment. Plus getting rid of these 2 boxes helps clean out my closet a little.
  24. By collectors value i mean limited edition. Those really wont be worth anything more than the shelf price to anyone but a rabid fan of the subject for at least 20 to 30 years. Models can be worth more if they are built, alot of times fans buy them with the intention of building models but never do . If they can find the model already built and professionally finished they will be more willing to spend a couple hundred dollars on it while the kit and paints didnt cost you more than 50 dollars total. For example im building a resin model tank that cost 150 dollars(i got it for free) but when its done i could possibly sell it for around 300 to 400 dollars. I dont try to sucker people for it mind you. I let them set the price based on the work i have done on it. My father took a 50 dollar kit of a ww2 destroyer, built it, and sold it for 1000 to oe of his regular customers. The guy was willing to give him 2000 for it but my father didnt want to accept that much for it . The guy who bought it is a professioal artist and alot of you have seen his work. He painted all the origional movie posters for all the Sean Conery "James Bond" films.
  25. Models were made to be built. The only onew who haggle over price are those who buy them for "collector" value, never build them and wind up keeping them so long that all they do is collect dust. After a time said"collector" dies and the family sells them on the cheap to clear the house. I have seen it happen. I know alot of you here have huge collections but at the same time i see you build the models too. I know you guys wouldnt unjustly inflate the price if you had to sell your unbuilts for tha sake of a collection. I say buld it.How else will it get finished to sit on your shelf and be admired.
