  1. According to Macek (Robotech Art 1), "Ippei Kuri" was the pen name of Anime Friend's president.
  2. I believe you are correct about that. However, this "YF-1R" isn't exactly a new derivative. Thanks to Animefiend it did appear in at least one clip. So...animation error?...Yes Monstrosity?...Yes. New derivative? Technically...No. However, hopefully we won't see any more "mutants" in the VF line that didn't appear in the series! (That is if we are both right about HG's in-ability to create any new derivatives) That was actually going to be my second point. For the same reasons you listed above, I wouldn't consider the YF-1R a derivative. *But*, the Jack Archer color scheme is. cwbrown, thank you for you insights into copyright law. I was just wondering if HG had overstepped it's jurisdiction with the new color scheme.
  3. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't one of the ruling's state that while TP/HG is able to exploit the characters and mecha in Macross (merchandise-wise), they cannot create derivatives from said characters and mecha?
  4. That, or Toynami is milking the VF-1 cow one more (final?) time. Toynami's even guilty of stealing pages from Yamato's marketing book.
  5. I've always believed that Ivana Gunther was a human woman possessed by the male protodevlin, Gepelnitch. I'm not surprised by Ivana's lack of breasts in the finale, didn't Gepelnitch also remove her legs and add in some sort of tentacle extensions? So what's to stop Gepelnitch from removing his hosts' breasts?
  6. 1 - Jetfire 1 - Strike Valkyrie 1 - 1990 Super VF-1S 2 - Re-issue Hikaru VF-1J 1 - Re-issue CF 1 - Re-issue Hikaru VF-1A 1 - Re-issue Max VF-1J 1 - Re-issue Millia VF-1J 2 - Re-issue Hikaru Super VF-1S Total: 11 Chunky Monkey's! Say "No" to anorexic arms, and "Yes" to swingbars! w00t!
  7. I'm still a little quesy about a 3D Macross game. I'm going to have to "test" this game out before I buy it.
  8. Sigh, money and macrossworld don't mix. The instant Shawn starts accepting money (be it in the form of memberships, seller fees, donations, etc), MW runs the risk of becoming a commercial site instead of a fan site. One of the ramifications of MW being deemed a commercial site is that all of the copyrighted images on here must be taken down. Besides, can anyone tell me the last time Shawn griped about money issues? The last time I heard him mention that, it must've been last year. Old news folks. Bottom line: if Shawn needs help, he'll let us know.
  9. Wow man, that's awesome. I wish I could've had the chance to watch a 35mm version of DYRL in a real theatre.
  10. IIRC, DYRL was released in Hong Kong as Super Space Fortress Macross. This was released in 1987 (or 89) and had nothing edited out. After 1992, every version of DYRL included the Flashback Minmay concert at the end. CotB is horrible, it was a hack job done for Americans.
  11. Two words: Fortess Maximus! I'm still kicking myself for passing him over when I was a kid, I just didn't think my parents would get him for me. F.M. has proven how desirable large toys are. With the 1/60 Monster on the horizen, I don't think Yamato is too concerned with size. Nor are they concerned with fans on limited budgets, they cater towards collectors. Also, wasn't Yamato's CEO on record, saying how he "wants to shock the world"? Bring on the VF-4's, VF-17's, etc in 1/48. B)
  12. Thank you. Emiko's posts were deleted with good reason. If this thread ressurects that information, however indirectly, it too will get deleted. Moving on...
  13. I'd also like to know what's different. From the picture posted above, those legs are dead ringers for bandai's.
  14. So there will be an updated version of the Special Edition ANH?
  15. From your latter posts, I'm glad you're not buying 2X for resale value. But I understand your desire to have a MISB toy, without having to break your bank. Here's what I'd do, buy 1 toy to play with for now. Once the toy depreciates in value, you can get a MISB version for much cheaper. As much as we love Yamato, hardly any of their toys increase in monetary value.
  16. Why, I love the special editions! They added so much! It is like having an awesome girlfriend, and then one day out of the blue she shows with a great set of implants! With the SE you some good and some not-so-good improvements. In the case of a gf, it would be more like her coming home with a set of mismatched implants.
  17. I asked one of my ex gf's to get me some Valkyries for xmas. She agreed and, like Exo, I gaver direct links to all the valks I wanted. Everything worked out, and I wondered what she thought about it. So I asked her and she said it was "kinda cute."

    1:60 GBP-1 !?

That's what I'm worried about too. I hope those are mock-up hands because they look like ass. I don't mind replacing the hands, just as long as they as good or better than the old ones. I'm also wondering if the GBP will come as one complete and solid toy, because I would like to retrofit my other 1/60's in GBP.
  19. Now that would surprise me. I figured Lucas would milk the VHS format one final time before moving onto DVD. Major, you just opened up a whole new can of worms.
  20. Damn! That is a remarkable paint job! Most of the customs here have that coated glossy look, but with yours it looks like the plastic was actually dyed in the factory. Can you give us some details, it looked like it just rolled off the factory floor. Amazing!
  21. Good stuff, man! I'm definitely going to look into this, thanks! Btw, the Hasegawa AMM-1 missles look a tad small on the 1/55, but have you considered mounting the Hasegawa UUM-7 missle pods instead? Apparently, Hasegawa oversized them, so they might look perfect on a 1/55.
  22. Cool, but how well the do magnetized missles handle play? If I start flying my Valkyrie around, will the force throw off the missle alignment?
  23. I remember reading that the Valkyrie's transformation was cut from the special OP, so that the audience wouldn't know what to expect. But I don't ever recall hearing anything about the SDF-1. The SDF-1 doesn't even appear in storm attacker mode in the regular OP. I could've sworn I didn't see the Valkyrie transform in the special OP, but the last time I watched my Perfect Collection tapes was probably 1996. I don't even have a VHS hooked up in my entertainment center anymore. Cool, welcome to MacrossWorld! I thought I recognized your avatar, but your username is slightly different. MW and mmcafe are pretty much the only two forums I visit, it's awesome to see people start crossing over. I grew up playing SNK games, so I immediatly fell in love with mmcafe. Fighting games enthusiasts, without the stupidity of SRK.com. We have a couple of hard core gamers here on MW too. Oh yeah, loved your old Metal Slug/Solid Snake avatar. You're can never be too old for video games, just too old for bad video games.
  24. Darykov's right, the Matchbox Zentraedi mecha are about 1/60 scale, give or take 1 to 2 units. The only problem is that their cockpits are slightly malproportioned, as they were meant to accomodate real action figures.
  25. Good grief! A Max and Millia giftset with FP's? That box would be as big as the 1/60 Monster box!
