I have some more info: it looks like crap.

Let's not throw the baby out with the bath water here. The mecha design itself is horrible, but the "man cannon" is genius. It just needs a redesign. I bet Miyatake could do it justice. Whoever designed this one just had to be giggling to himself.

What's the name of that dancing robot with dreadlocks? That one is ugly. As far as ugly robots from shows I actually watch, it's the AJAX space helicopter from Southern Cross.

I don't know if this has already been noticed and mentioned here, but it looks like the chest on the new 1D doesn't slide down as far in battroid mode as the other new VF-1's. Check out your comparison shots, Jenius. Is that just how it transforms, or did you not push it down all the way?

Dragon Ball movie rescued from dev hell?
danth replied to bsu legato's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
That is freakin' weird. -
Looks pretty good to me. Especially like the Bartley figure itself.

I miss MXC. Everything else is unworthy.

What about that last one that was released here? New Era? That one was so terrible, animation wise, you could just tell they ran out of money or just didn't care any more. Although I though the story was okay. But the production values were just sad that I think it should never have been made.

I paid like $50 for the box set and don't regret it, but I DO regret that stupid DigitalEyes sent me factory rejects twice in a row. The first time they sent me a damaged box with damaged discs, and when I returned those they sent me good DVDs in another damaged box with a big razor cut across the middle of the face. I was so pissed, but I gave up. I should have returned it but I was demoralized and didn't care. Plus I didn't want to wait weeks to for another set to arrive if I bought elsewhere, I wanted to see the god damned show already. I wish I had a non-damaged box.

Nevermind, accidentally replied to months old post.

I think some people just really like the theory that Macross Worlders are worthless cretins that can't contribute to anything.

Ditto!

Sounds like a plan! By the way, I got a ridiculously nasty virus after downloading from that mediafire website. I don't know if it was a coincidence or what, but be careful.

I haven't even bothered to check out Magical Girl Club, but I keep hearing good things about Magical Project S. I have both Magical Project S DVD sets (that I snagged super cheap by the way) but I haven't watched them yet.

Cool, thanks for the download! I already read the 101 facts some time ago, but never the novels. I don't think the OAV mentions anything about Mihoshi and Washu, although the dude Washu had a kid with looked like Mihoshi. So what did you think of OAV3, Tenchi in Tokyo, and GXP? EDIT: were there pictures with the original novels? I remember the cover art was pretty cool. I guess there wasn't any more art inside?

Whoops, I meant to say that OAV 3 was horrible. I thought both the story and the animation were lacking. I wish I had never seen any of OAV 3. I only watched half an episode of GXP, but I heard it was okay but not great. Plus it only has cameos of the Tenchi Muyo characters, so I didn't really care about it. I'd like to check out the Novels, but are they available in English? Thanks for the link, but I can't seem to find the actual trailer on that page. As for new Tenchi series, I think it's getting kinda retarded. What's the point? If it's not about the original characters, why not just call it something else and stop pretending it has anything to do with the original series? Are the few hardcore Tenchi fans who will care really going to make the difference? I dunno. The original Tenchi OAV was perfect and magical. Nothing else compares. The site you linked to makes the new series look like Tenchi Muyo meets El Hazard. Man, these guys can't do anything original any more. Okay, I guess you can say that neither Tenchi nor El Hazard were original, but retreading your own unoriginal works is just sad. EDIT: Found the trailers, which were really just slide shows. I'd like to see some actual animation.

The original Tenchi Muyo OAV is awesome. My favorite anime after Macross and Mospeada. The second OAV, the movies, and the Tenchi TV series were good too. Tenchi in Tokyo kinda sucked, and OAV 3 was f*cking horrible. There's a spin-off that came out recently, Sasami Magical Girls Club or something. Are we talking about that or an even newer show? EDIT: Whoops, forgot the 3 in OAV 3.

I've heard that Aoshima is why the Tread turned out so well -- they were responsible for much of it from the beginning. Apparently they didn't have as much control over the Legioss, and they blame Toynami for the Aoshima Legioss sucking. And obviously Yune designed the US Beagle head, though I don't know if he technically "sculpted" it. And that sucks, because I prefer the original head, and I would buy an HG packaged Beagle if the toy itself was untainted. So if Aoshima did a gift set, and Toynami imported it, I hope Tommy Yune doesn't mess with it.

An all plastic, Aoshima quality Legioss/Tread combo would be a godsend. Hopefully f*cking Tommy Yune doesn't sculpt the heads of the US versions.

Right, I've seen two other clips of Letterman using Robotech music on youtube. What I meant was, the fact that they did it again the ONE time I actually watched the show on TV was pretty funny to me.

I remember now. Ten Little Gall Force was a super deformed parody of Gall Force, which included the scenes I mentioned. It was released with Scramble Wars on VHS as "Super Deformed Double Feature".

*sigh* That long canopy is so dreamy. Wish Yamato could have done as well.
-
Come on, Yamato: give us two pairs of tail fins! Then everyone wins.

I have this on VHS. I remember when it was listed for $80(!) on Amazon because it was so rare. Someone finally listed one cheap and I snagged it. I need to watch it again. I remember the races, but I also seem to remember something about Lufie trying to get people to work on animation cels or something. Anyway, yeah, Artmic rocks.

I hope Yamato releases a Virgin Road as well as other non-canon variants. A tan and army green 1D would be amazing.
