  1. The G1 or G2 variety of Assaultus? And did you order the add-on set for the toy head/chest/gun/feet? I much prefer the toy head to the animation one and the gun is much more intimidating. I really like all the members except Incursus. He suffers the most from being part of an all-in-one combiner. I wished the designer AK found a way to make his torso collapse. He looks so awkward in robot mode. And MMC knows this which is why they tried making the torso appear shorter by painting parts of the lower abdomen tan so it looks like it belongs to the waist but it doesn’t work.
  2. @mikeszekely if I remember correctly you could tuck Megatrons hind wheels behind his calfs to give him a sleeker look.
  3. I like that the cockpit canopy and the sensor unit in the nosecone are made out of different colored translucent plastic. The YF-29 Fokker would have looked so much better than with the dark teal color shown on the early prototypes and not the fold quarz purple.
  4. I’m a big fan of the Alternity line (I have all the molds and want to buy GT Saber and Galvatron if I can find them). To this day I feel that they are the most premium collector toys Takara Tomy has released. And they started a trend for me where I have to have a toy of every release of Nemesis Prime, Cliffjumper and Skywarp in my collection. Sadly the toys are not without flaws. The areas where they use die cast are poorly chosen. Prime has a super heavy torso which makes him hard to pose. The knees, while ratcheted, are not up for the task. The seeker mold has die cast doors for no reason that are attached to poorly toleranced (is that even a real word) ball joints so they always pop off during transformation. Something they all have in common is that they have super spindly parts. Like the legs on Cliffjumper and Skywarp or the arms on Prime and Megatron. Plus the gigantic belly (CJ) and chests. It makes the look add and alien which fits to the bonkers Alternity backstory well.
  5. I have the reissue on preorder. He’s slated for release in April but with all the lockdowns going on in China he will probably be delayed. Once I have him in hand I can give some feedback here. I‘d love to get an IDW Star Saber from MMC but they seem rather gun shy when it comes to toys that a competitor has released or is planning to release. What I don’t understand is why anyone would choose a Planet X release over an MMC one. I have a couple of WfC/FoC toys from Planet X and they are all of lesser quality than most MMC releases (the Reformatted Lockdown mold being the exception).
  6. Major rant incoming... During the Haslab Star Saber preorder period I did mention that I wanted to buy the other renditions of Star Saber available on the market to pad out the collection (most notably the Planet X IDW Star Saber and the IronTrans stylized MP one). I received Planet X Kadmos a while back and thought I write down my thoughts. So if you don't want to read the whole litany of complaints I have with the figure here is a quick summary: it is one of the worst figures I have in my collection. Easily in the Top 3 figures I own pushing MMC Boreas (now 3) and TT MP Laserwave (now 4) down one place. If your were thinking about buying one: don't. Especially combined with the Victory Leo they are planning to release he will never be able to stand straight. It will collapse and shatter your Kadmos as a result. What makes the toy so frustrating is that it has a lot of good parts... ...which are all undermined by some of the most baffling design decisions I have seen. So why I'm writing all of this? I have a lot of frustration built up with Star Saber. While he is one of my favorite Transformer designs his G1 Masterpiece toy is also terrible. It sits (proudly) on the number 1 spot of worst toys in my collection. And I don't know why they turn out so badly on a regular basis because the Flame Toys Kuro Kara Kuri one is probably one of the best toys in my collection but somehow two of three Star Saber toys are utter trash. This all makes me super worried about the Haslab one. Especially given the reports that the white plastic on some of the most recent transformers apparently yellow super fast. Lets hope that the IronTrans Star Blade reissue I have on order turns out better and maybe I should track down the Alternity GT Saber race car since I know I like the mold (which again is too heavy for his own sake). Oh did I mention that this is the second time I'm writing this wall of text? The first time the browser on my smartphone deleted the first draft... [edit:] Apparently this post crashed the MWF servers... thank you Star Saber
  7. I think the „thing“ all the way to the left in the background could be a black YF-21. The lens cover seems to be red but it is missing the gray of Gamlins VF-22S. [edit:] The one in the middle could be a VF-9. It has a similar head than the SV-51 but it looks like spikes on the right shoulder of the toy similar to the laser turret on the VF-9. And the VF-9 has an extending neck feature too.
  8. At least Macross 2 was short. I really liked the first 12 episodes until the cockpit tomato soup. After that it just fizzled out. I think @sqidd is right. Macross toys are probably produced by the same factories that do Metal Build and similar toy lines so you need to have a solid business case get a slot for your toy. The Bogue toy is probably similar enough to the VF-31AX tooling to get a slot while a completely different tooling like an SV-262 or VF-171 are harder to justify. Especially for non hero Valkyries at this point. It probably didn’t help that the SV-262 is super complex and didn’t sell well.
  9. I put my SDF-1 out on display. I think I want to add the extra bits and screw hole covers to it. Do they need to be glued in or are the tolerances tight enough so I can just push them in? During the transformation I noticed that one of the detail pieces on the chest came undone so I thought gluing the extra bits in might be a good idea.
  10. To be honest to me, a fan of the engineering in Transformers with almost no nostalgia for the G1 cartoon, this looks exactly like any other Transformer that doesn’t need to reassemble a real alt-mode. To me this is in line with the Metroplex, Fortress Maximus and Omega Supreme Titan toys: wonky proportions, super simple transformation, suggestive alt-mode.
  11. Metal Build Great Mazinger preorder at amiami: https://www.amiami.com/eng/detail?scode=FIGURE-044601-S001 And in stock at HLJ: https://www.hlj.com/metal-build-great-mazinger-bans55478
  12. Watched the first two episodes of Spy x Family and the series is pretty great (just like the manga). Makes me want to read the manga again from the start. Haven’t had a chance watching Shield Hero season 2 yet but it seems the first two episodes are not well liked so I’m anxious watching them… …especially since Hamefura season 2 was such a letdown.
  13. Does anyone know how tall the SDF-1 is on the stand in Fortress-Mode with the cannons not angled forward? According to anymoon.com it is 43cm but that doesn’t include the stand if I recall correctly.
  14. Since we were talking about display cases in the Metal Build thread here is an image of my Lego Star Wars collection:
  15. @no3Ljm The were around $1100 (incl. 20% sales tax) and the are 90x52x200 cm (roughly 35“x20“x79“). @sqidd The company is based in Europe, so I don’t know if you still are interested in them. I can send you a link to their web page if you want.
  16. They are custom made by a company specialized in doing displays for stores and museums. The only downsides are that they are pricey (but as pricey as the ones for the museums) and heavy. The ones in the images weigh about 265 lbs each.
  17. I‘ve added some pictures to show how the collection looks at the moment. I like the Destiny Gundam. The problem is, with exception of the Heine Custom, they look the same only some decals and finishes changed. I need the Full Package release that was bundled with the WoL but it ist just too much like the regular Destiny.
  18. I always welcome feedback. Before I had the Seven Sword, Exia, Repair Exia and 00 Raiser on one shelf and it was too much of the same. I replaced the 00 with the Trans AM version which made it more palatable. I‘m waiting for the Type-X Finsternis to mix it up a bit. I don’t want to buy 3rd party and KO Gundams. I’m content with a complete MB official collection. [edit:] Added some images of the collection;
  19. Last December I bought two glass cabinets for my Metal Build collection. Now I finally placed all the Gundams in the display and I noticed three things: Setsunas Gundams are too similar in color. Bandai needs to release 00 Suits in different colors to break up the monotony (red, orange and green maybe) Despite hating gold and liking the design of some Gundams more (00 Gundam/Red Frame) the MB Strike Freedom is my favorite release by a wide margin (and Seed Destiny is bad). I need more color variants of Strike Freedom to face off against the army of Destiny Gundams. Maybe in Lacus Clynes pink, white black and purple color scheme.
  20. I don’t know much like the Powered Red and 150 Gerbera Straight it will take up a lot of shelf space. Enough for 2-3 more Gundams. And I rather have more Gundams on display.
  21. Apparently the next preorder will be Max‘ YF-29 on April 25th. Or at least more information about the preorder. …poetry will be released. [edit:] thread for non preorder related discussion:
