What Current Anime Are You Watching Version v4.0
Scyla replied to wolfx's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I started to watch Birdie Wing: Golf Girls’ Story. It starts rather interesting with the mafia setting disputes via a 1 vs 1 golf match with those underground golfers. Losing one of these matches has severe consequences for the golfer… I basically no nothing about golf (i.e. I had to look up what a birdie actually is) but the show is very enjoyable. It also has a great opening song by Hirose Koumi. -
I don’t know how to feel about that. Volume 40 of the manga seemed like a good end for the series. You could imagine that Guts and Casca lived happily ever after on that island while Griffith is off doing whatever. But now with volume 41 you opened a whole new can of worms that somehow needs to continue.

I think what also might have helped to change the color of the Super Parts thrusters and engine covers to make it more look like Max. Maybe the dark gray from his VF-1J or the light gray of his VF-22S. The lavender looks too much like the blue.

I have the two announcements Raiden Bots on preorder. Mostly out of morbid curiosity to see what an official TT MP combiner would look like. But I’m thinking daily I shouldn’t waste my money and cancel them. I think the Moon Studio have some advantages over the MP ones since the bot mode looks cleaner, well proportioned and more cohesive. But from the videos they look like a mess to transform and the train modes look very stubby. Those are some areas where the official ones could outshine them.- 17375 replies

The Unlicensed Third Party Transformers Thread
Scyla replied to slaginpit's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Got my IronTrans Star Blade. It’s bad, don’t buy it and hope that HasLab Star Saber delivers. Or, if you don’t need it to transform and you have the budget for it, get the Kuro Kara Kuro one. It’s great. How bad you ask? I think it sits firmly on the third spot right after the MP one and the PlanetX Kadmos. Compared to Kadmos at least his joints can support poses and it feels more solid than the MP one. Star Blade shares the non-transformation of the others. Given that Star Blade is a big toy and fairly stylized I wonder why they didn’t come up with a more involved transformation. Since the company has not many releases under their belt it could be inexperience. It is just plagued with a lot of paint imperfections. But, to be fair, it has a lot of paint. Many people, myself included, had the hands fall apart on them but nothing a bit of super glue couldn’t fix. I could write more but I’m strapped for time at the moment.- 9328 replies

Your most recent Macross or toy purchase! General thread.

I wished the different parts of the wings had articulation but I love the additional yellow highlights they added. It really pops compared to the EW version. -

I paid ¥40k at HLJ for MP-44 and had a paint rub on the lights on his robot-mode chest and a complete fingerprint in the paint of Roller out of the box. Got told by an HLJ customer support rep that this is the kind of QC I should expect from an item released by the company so they couldn’t do anything about it. So yeah if this is what is expected I feel he is overpriced. Also the JPY exchange rate back then is not what it is today. Plus MP-44 was $450 at BBTS whereas Skyfire is $270. I also have a lot of Metal Build Gundams (and Sentinel/Arcadia toys) and Transformers don’t compare in quality to those. They are of lower quality but prior to MP-44 they had the cheaper price point going for them. And I prefer MP-44 over MS and TE mind you. Also the quality of Transformers MP vary on a large spectrum ranging from good (not great) to utter garbage (I loathe MP Star Saber, Laserwave and MP-49 Back Convoy) Collector toys are not Takara Tomis strong suite. Sometimes I feel they should stick to what they are good at (i.e. making retail toys)- 17375 replies

I think even I could come up with a MoC for the trailer. It wouldn’t be fancy but it would resemble a box.

Got my Wing Zero Early Color Ver. in. The colors really pop, especially the yellow. I’m a bit disappointed that the „feathers“ of the wings don’t have any articulation. Only at the base of the wings you can do some adjustments. Really limits some of the poses you can do since you can’t move them out of the way easily.

I think Phoenix is my preferred take on Skyfire. The MP just has too much wonky animation proportions going on. Though in all fairness it doesn’t look bad (could look a lot worse) and the price seems fair (compared to MP-44) for a toy that has almost zero repaint potential. Does it come with a Jazz mini figure? Is it time for baseless assumptions about an MP Jazz finally being released?- 17375 replies

I‘ve mentioned that before. To me it has either too much white (for Max’ regular rides) or not enough white (for the DYRL? color scheme) to identify as Max.

What Current Anime Are You Watching Version v4.0
Scyla replied to wolfx's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I want to give the show a watch. Sounds entertaining. I‘ve started to watch „Ya boy Kongming“ which is about the Chinese tactician Kongming from the three Kingdoms period transported to/reincarnated in modern day Japan. His new goal is to help a struggling EDM artist to become famous by deploying various war tactics and stratagems he used in his past life. It is good and refreshingly different to other Isekai style shows. However in the current story arc his involvement is almost negligible. I guess him pulling the strings in the background is a more convincing way to explain why two people meet instead of them running into each other by chance. Still an enjoyable show but it removed the premise of the show to a certain extend, which where show draws most of the comedy from. Currently it is more about personal relationships and the drama that comes from that. Killer OP though! -
Not as good looking as Miss Sazabi.

I think Shockwave would work well too. Especially if his alt-mode is a futuristic upside-down submarine.

Beautiful! But will we get Urd and Skuld? And while Belldandy looks great I would love to get new versions of the goddesses with their guardian angels.

Lego was ok with releasing fighter-jets and classifying them something else (Like the Blue Power Jet F-35 lookalike). So as long as it doesn’t say McDonnell Douglas F-15 on the box and doesn’t have realistic weapons it should be fine. I don’t think Prime is a licensed vehicle did he?

You can also flip out the panels on Tyr‘s shins that can double as rear landing gear. They don’t have any dedicated sculpting for wheels though, which is odd. I got my Tyr too and he is great. It had a FansToys like QC sticker on his nose and the box art is featuring Lemon Tree‘s Purple Potato. Is it time for baseless conspiracy theories already?- 9328 replies

Looks terrible as Scourge not feeling the red (the red tint is not strong enough; looks too pale/pink in the pictures) on the shoulders for Nemesis Prime. Maybe they will a properly colored one in the Selects line. I wonder if this will be available through Pulse since we don’t have Walmarts in my country.- 17375 replies

I think it was a good idea by the MMC designer(I think it was Makoto) to use the legs as the tank turret. That allows to have slender legs without the need to scaffold them with panels. I wished they would have come up with a way to deal with the tank treads other than turning them into a backpack. But it is not too egregious.- 9328 replies
