  1. Samus looks great but what I ultimately want is her in her Dread Gravity Suit. I couldn’t care leas about the E.M.M.I.
  2. I can’t access the YAJ site anymore since it is blocked for IP addresses from the EU. I wonder if this is why I can’t find it via From Japan and Zen Market. Is there a specific Japanese term for the item that will yield better results besides „metal build strike“?
  3. A slightly less depressing topic: The Metal Build Strike Gundam Helioplolis Rollout Version has been released as a Tamashii Nations Store Exclusive. I know it showed up once on Mandarake but I wasn’t able to find them via Jungle or From Japan. Does anyone know if they are widely available on the aftermarket or is it a super limited release (the price on the Mandarake listing doesn’t imply this)?
  4. Yeah, this preorder is a mess. At least with Metal Builds and DX Chogokins you know at the end of the day that you either missed your shot (and have to source it via other means) or you have one secured. I‘m so glad I didn’t get into this line when the Nu Gundam was announced. Although if they do a Metal Structure Hi-Nu I might not be able to resist…
  5. I’ve heard somewhere online that a clause in the Star Wars license prevents Lego from releasing their on Sci-Fi series which sounds ludicrous to me. My reason being that: 1. Star Wars is much closer to fantasy than Sci-Fi and the line that is most similar to Star Wars is the Ninjago line. 2. The previous space lines are basically Lego City in Space with a police theme, a mining theme, a train theme, etc. I think that is more the case of Lego‘s product line strategy that they focus on licensed sets rather than own IPs, which is a shame. I also would imagine that the Star Wars license is not cheap so Lego prefers developing sets that pay of the license fees.
  6. I don’t know what you mean. Looks great to me.
  7. @M'Kyuun great review and history lesson on the set. I really enjoyed the read. While this is not for me I’m glad for all the fans of Classic Space that this set turned out well. My era of Lego Space was from Futuron to Exploriens so if they ever do an homage to 6986 or 6781 I would be thrilled. Maybe for their 40th anniversary in 2029?
  8. You’re right, I completely forgot about Predaking. If I remember correctly the thighs where integrated into Tantrum and Headstrong and the shoulders into Rampage and Divebomb but the hands and feet where still pieces that you had to attach. That Predaking was a terrible looking toy. Maybe I don’t want to know what an all in one Hasbro combiner would look like. The Menasor is looking great, move along.
  9. I just find it interesting that, for the longest time, Hasbro favored the “main bot turns into torso and thighs“ approach and now that 3rd party showed that it is a viable option to have a frame for the combiner is developing their own. Of course Hasbro can’t sell a frame that doesn’t do anything on its own (say like the pants and arms for Toy World Devy) because that would fly with consumers and stores I would assume. As you pointed out Menasor is an ideal test balloon since his CW iteration wasn’t… well received and his G1 cartoon model is just a frame with cars attached to it anyway. I‘m cool with that approach and look forward if Hasbro continue with this and how future iteration of this concept will look like (like my Silverbolt aircraft carrier idea). On the other hand I’m curious what a Hasbro all-in-one combiner would look like at a Commander or Titan price point.
  10. Well that was one quiet preorder night for the Sazabi from the 10 people that actually wanted one only 1-2 got it… …I’m curious how many units Bandai actually produced.
  11. I wonder if they will follow suit with other combiners. I think Defensor and Bruticus lend themselves well for this Commander Class approach. However both of those were some of the better CW combiners so I don’t know if the incentive for Hasbro is there to redo them. Silverbolt would be cool if the combiner parts could form an aircraft carrier for the jets to land on. And I think he would benefit from the additional budget the Commander Class toys seem to have. The leftover trailer bits for Menasor it disappointing and a real oversight in my eyes. I also find it amusing that the 3rd party approached to MP combiners is now adopted by Hasbro since it is seemingly shunned by a large population of Transformers fans.
  12. That looks good. I’m not mad that I bought one but… …the MG Ver. Ka looks so much better too me. I like the angular look (not a fan of the round fins to push the beam saber handles up on the MG kit) but something is missing in the legs. I‘m also wondering what Bandai is planning to do next. A Metal Structure Hi-Nu seems the logical choice, so does a Metal Build Sazabi. But I guess at the moment this would mean too much overlap in the lines. Maybe the Hi-Nu will be the U.C. exception of n the MB line.
  13. I’m sure they have plans for toy versions. The question is if those plans will come to fruition. Here is the block model of the combined mode of MPG Raiden: Source with a translation: https://www.tfw2005.com/boards/threads/transformers-raiden-project.1183388/page-446#post-20472889 That looks hilariously bad. Seems like a train wreck to me (pun intended).
  14. I’m tempted by Sol Badguy (and the prospect of more, female, GG:Strive figures). But he is missing some of the cell shaded goodness of his in game model. Maybe it is the texture of the flexible material Storm Collectibles is using doesn’t look right. He also might be too tall for the rest of my 6“ collection. I also heard that some of the earlier releases where plagued with rotting materials. @Mommar it is a shame that SHF didn’t even finish the original World Warriors. I can partially understand not releasing Zangief, E. Honda and Balrog since they are big figures but not even giving us a Guile is disheartening. [edit:] This is particularly sad since some of the best Japanese SF V players have Guile as their main, like Daigo.
  15. Nice review Mike. I wonder if there will be Toy inspired Dinobots in the future. The toys seem to be mighty fine but too bland looking for my tastes. A bit of toy detailing printed on and translucent plastic would solve that.
  16. But the Metal Structure Nu Gundam was sold out pretty fast. @Chunky001 you can set a timer to the time the preorder starts in Japan time here: https://www.timeanddate.com/countdown/create If you select Tokyo and the time it starts (I haven’t followed the Sazabi preorder so I don’t know what the actual time is) the service should tell you when the timer runs out in your local time zone.
  17. When I was messing with my VF-171CF I had the same kind if problem IIRC. The connection of the forward fuselage and the backplate was never secure and the toy only would hold together when the parts were held together by the stand. One day I was messing with it again it snapped together solidly and didn’t come apart. So I assume it is possible to lock them together properly. Sadly my VF-171 are all in storage right now so I can’t go back and check.
  18. Love the polka-dot shield. In my head canon the dots are intended to be the after glow of beam impacts absorbed by shield but somehow someone interpreted the dots as actual deco on the shield.
  19. I was under the impression that the Transformers in the 86 movie where meant to be taller than the regular carbot. I never cared for scale so I might be wrong.
