  1. Bobby Skullface reviews MPG Shouki: I think this is a lot of fair criticism. Personally I really dislike the use if clear plastic. In my opinion opaque plastic with translucent black inlets like MMC did for their Vortex would habe been the better choice. I still have this morbid curiosity of what a Takara MP combiner would be after 3rd party went through 3 or 4 generations of combiners already so I look forward to the other 5 Trainbots.
  2. I came to the conclusion that the big problem of Takara is that they are a toy company first (as in toys for kids) and they just can’t pull of a collectible like specialized companies like Sentinel or Tamashii Nations can, even if they wanted to. Reasoning being that they get shot in the back every time they try because they have to deal with processes put in place for manufacturing kid‘s toys (design, material, pricing, and sourcing constraints ).
  3. Please don’t take my comment about the A-10 disrespectful. One thing that attracts me to aircraft is that, no matter what purpose they have, they all need to be able to fly thus resulting in a sleek and dynamic machine. A couple of years back I visited the Le Bourget air show and they had a demonstration of the Airbus A380. And while the thing is a massive monstrosity of a man made machine it was still graceful and agile flying its circles in the sky over Paris.
  4. Finished Metroid Dread last weekend (played through it on normal and 100% hard mode). On the one hand it is pretty great. The classic Metroid gameplay is awesome. Graphics are mostly good. Controls very well. Some of the bosses are challenging and fun to avoid their attacks. On the other hand the E.M.M.I. sections of the game don’t work. What I think the developer wants you to do is to sneak through the areas carefully avoiding any contact with the robots. However since the are only patrolling narrowly defined areas and there is no penalty to dying the winning strategy is running through the areas as fast as possible to find the exit. Which works and is faster but super frustrating when you run into a dead end (die since the QTEs to escape them is a game of chance). Not fun at all. I think they did it so that speedrunners can plow through these sections. Oh, and the E.M.M.I. zones look boring as hell once you dispatched them. Also the hard mode is not hard. It is a flat out damage output increase to all the enemies (I think it’s actually doubled) but since you can only play it after the first playthrough you know the mechanics and secrets of the game so it actually felt easier than the first run on normal. I would have loved to see extra boss phases, alternative bosses, an alternative ending etc. There is the one hit kill Dread mode but I think I can’t stomach that since I’m too sloppy playing games now.
  5. My bad, I have trouble reading expressions. I thought she looked quite happy. [edit:] I didn’t parsed your response properly. Disregard my comment.
  6. It is just a female version of Terry Bogart. It is probably an entry in their Bishoujo line which translates to ‚beautiful girl‘.
  7. With a recent update of the Macross World board software introducing the default iOS/android emojis and placed them above the one that come with this message board software, I noticed that more and more users are using those. However, I really like the other emojis. So I wanted to asked with one of the ones that are „unique“ to MWF is your favorite? Mine is this one: It is a representation of my favorite icon that I often used in the beginning of the Internet when you hadn’t had rendered images. Since I try to take everything said on the Internet lightheadedly, it represents my state of mind the best most of the time. It is also super cute.
  8. The Qan[t] has an LED in his chest. So there would be a precedent. Maybe it is the way they are built and designed. Metal Build for stylized designs, Metal Composite for Katoki Hajime designs, Chogokin for the rest of the high end Gundam action figures. I would appreciate of the Metal Build line ends soon since I’m out of display space.
  9. Got my Metal Build Historia book today. It has a nice double page spread of every release up to the Hi-Nu (who’s pictures are sadly too dark). But the best thing is the extra content in the back of the book with lots of of schematics and technical drawings of the toys as well as information on the painting process and so on. Sadly everything is in Japanese (which I can’t read) so I can just look at the picture.
  10. That looks dope. I think I can’t stomach the price though. My love for Lego is obviously not as strong as I thought it would be.
  11. Does anyone has this Albedo statue: https://myfigurecollection.net/item/1051980# If so, what is the verdict on it? From what I gathered it doesn’t have shading on the hair and wings which could be a big issue given how prominent they are.
  12. Thanks. Yeah, I was scrolling through their availability kits and they seem quite expensive for the size. Are the that expensive because of the custom prints and minifigs? Where are they getting their bricks from? Are they from Lego or another manufacturer?
  13. Neat, do they have an online store that I could stalk?
  14. Looks like it will be sporting lots of springs. Side note: I don’t understand what Ramen Toys is doing. They make official Silverhawks figures but unofficial stuff like this and Centurions. Don‘t the Silverhawks license holders want to collaborate with a company that is not involved with any „shady“ business on their other product lines or do they just don’t care?
  15. That looks very cool. The A-10 is so ugly; I love it. Is it still possible to get this kit somewhere or is it long gone out of stock? I tried looking around finding the maker with the name you dropped but could find anything.
  16. The Gold Frame is nice because you get everything that the original had plus more (like a second golden right arm). The matte finish makes it stand out around the other Astrays who all have a glossy finish.
  17. I got two Skywarps last week: Legacy Core Class and MP-52SW+ (Or 52+SW?). Can‘t say anything about MP Skywarp yet since my desk is full of other robots at the moment but Core Class Skywarp is a nifty figure with a novel transformation for the seekers. My enjoyment is severely hampered by the omission of the Null Rays in favor of a combining sword. The other parts come with his wave mates Iguanos and Hot Rod. Sadly he got the grip/hilt so it doesn’t look like anything. Come on Hasbro the figures are now $15 and the material costs would be probably less the 1 cent for his iconic weaponry. He is not NewAge Seekers but a nice desk toy to fiddle with. I love it when a toy company (Hasbro or others) comes up with a new conversion scheme for an already well established character. It is pure toy engineering creativity and something you can only get from transforming mecha (Transformers in particular)
  18. Apparently there is a July release (reissue?) for Metal Build Astray Gold Frame Amatsu Mina and F91 Chronicle White going on: https://www.hlj.com/metal-build-gundam-astray-gold-frame-amatsu-mina-princess-of-the-sky-ver-reissue-bans61071-2 https://www.hlj.com/metal-build-gundam-f91-chronicle-white-ver-reissue-bans61067-2
  19. The $22 is probably Hasbro‘s profit margin.
  20. Hilarious: https://www.amiami.com/eng/detail?gcode=FIGURE-142256
  21. Watched Wotafa‘s review of Legacy Wildrider: To me it feels like this toy was designed by the intern. What is going on with the backpack? I feel like the G1 toy dealt with the front of the care than this toy nearly 40 years later. I don’t even understand why they engineered in the hinges for the subassemblies the front wheels are on. It is not needed for combiner mode and makes the robot mode even more busy. Seems like a waste of parts. Maybe I’m salty because I played a lot with my G1 Wildrider and liked the transformation for the car‘s hood.
  22. Got my Metal Build Type-x Finsternis this week and in person it looks pretty similar to the promotional pictures. Under certain lighting conditions it can look a bit redish but not nearly as exaggerated as some pictures made it look like. So Bandai, now that I got an Astraea with a Sniper Rifle and a Dynames with a GN Bazooka, when will I get a green Dynames with the correct sniper cloak?
  23. I know, I have the Metal Build Dynames on display. Maybe this is why the yellow color looks wrong to me. I’m just too used seeing those details in gold.
  24. I have a Metal Build Hi-Nu at BBTS with NRD. However it is planned for release in September 2022. I’m tempted to snatch a second copy once it is released in Juli. It is probably cheaper getting it now from Japan given the current exchange rate. I really love the Hi-Nu design (specifically the MG Ver. Ka sculpt) but I don’t know if I like the Metal Build enough to own two.
