  1. Well you had 3 years of enjoyment at least. Some toys lie disintegrated in their boxes after that period of time. Plus the first release was a huge improvement over the V1 VF-25.
  2. There are a few int the Macross thread on the TFW2005 Toyark board.
  3. I have to admit I was kinda kidding when said next Monday. Somewhere on this message board was a plan how the timeline for Bandai preorders is but I forgot. Compared to the previous releases the preorder started shortly after the announcement. You can also check amiami since they have a date when the preorders are starting. So the safest bet is to check the thread and see when amiami is updating their site.
  4. I want Mirias VF-1J from Macross7 that black stripe on the wings is so sexy!
  5. Yeah it's basically the same thing. But it's bugs me less there because they are from different shows, have a different design aesthetic, etc. The VF-27 and VF-25 however are from the same show so that's that. However I'm willing to preorder this release within the second it opens up because it's still a beauty.
  6. Hm, is it time to announce a hat eating bet about the Battle Frontier/Galaxy release? Wishful thinking might get us the S.H.Monsterarts Vajra and a web exclusive perfect transformation DX YF-30. It's not just the height it's everything. In the picture the VF-27 in Battroid looked like a 1/65 when the VF-25 Renewal looked like a 1/60. It just looked off. I have the same issue with the VF-17 and VF-19 from Yamato they both should be the same scale (I bet they are in Fighter-Mode) but in Battroid the VF-17 looks to big and bulk compared to the VF-19. It looks off. Every time I look at them I have the feeling that I should protect Docker otherwise Gamlin will come and molest him because the Blazer looks so fragile compared to the Nightmare. I don't know how do describe it better. It's absolutely possible that this comes due to the fact that something is wired the wrong way inside my brain so that can't be helped. As I said I'm eagerly awaiting comparison pictures.
  7. Can't wait to see some images of the weathered Valkyrie MacrossJunkie. If you make one that is.
  8. True but I saw a picture once that compared the two toys in Battroid-Mode and the VF-27 just look like it's scale was to small. Maybe that changed with the new placement of the hips so I'm eagerly awaiting comparison pictures. It just looked wired to see the Renewals and the Lucifer together as if something was a little bit of. Hardly noticeable but still there like an itch on my back. But I have to agree with you the improvements the VF-27 had with the V1 Messiahs and the added improvements with this release make it equal to the renewals on paper. Only the size of the crotch might be off to much for some tastes. I can understand why but I'm just excited about the amount of improvements Bandai made with this release because like David said the could just molded in the attachment points for the packs. So thank you Bandai now all that I need is the possibility to preorder.
  9. After looking at the images I realize how awesome the mold changes are. It has the articulated hands of the Renewals which indicates that the ball a the wrist is now attached to the hand and not to the forearm like before. It also has the metal finish on the feet so it should blend in well with the Renewals. Let alone the additional details and tampo printings. I'm in love!
  10. Thanks for the post mechaninac. Can't see your images either Reïvaj but thanks for the effort. Now I'm really exited even it the crotch looks to long compared to the line art but it is more than I would have asked for (besides of a Renewal). Will the VF-27 be as tall as the Renewal VF-25 with those changes? I agree that is is a bit pricey but the first release is going for 25000 Yen so I'm not complaining because the set contains a updated Valkyrie and the Super Parts so it's a much better deal compared to the after-market prices of a VF-27 plus the Super Parts. I can however understand if owners of the first released are upset doe to Bandai not offering standalone upgrades.
  11. Damn I'm at work now and can't look at those images due to some IT shenanigans. Can someone describe what they changed on the hip? Does it look like the Renewals? Or even better can someone re-post the image of the hip.
  12. Yeah I doubt that too. Which makes me sad. On the other hand I'm happy to be able to buy a new VF-27 at retail price with the Armor Parts (or should I say near retail?). Hope there is not as much preorder madness since it's no Renewal.
  13. Some parts like the crotch and hip area? Good news but that means no VF-27 Renewal for some time (maybe never). I'm curious what those changes are going to be. Depending on that I might be interested since the Lucifer is missing in my Frontier collection. So I'm glad that it will be a bundle. Does anyone have good comparison images between the VF-27 and the Renewal VF-25s. IIRC they scale badly in Battroid-Mode together.
  14. I also think that the 1/60 scale is a good scale for PT Valkyries I think. It's large enough to include sturdy parts and transformation as well as good gimmicks, line-art accuracy, anime accurate decal printings and mold details. I would assume that a 1/72 VF-19 for example would be not worth the asking price because the development (developing the same toy in a smaller scale with the same features would mean more work) and production costs (due to more potential mistakes while assembling and painting the toy) would increase thus resulting in a toy that is smaller but might cost the same or more. Material costs are not that big of a deal in the first wave of production. Please keep in mind that the Bandai 1/72 Plamo of the VF-1 is a kit that comes without paint and unassembled. The 1/48 on the other hand are cool because they are so big but some collectors (myself included) would buy less toys because the run out of display space much quicker. And while material costs might not be the biggest contribution to the end price a 1/48 VF-19 might cost more. Also with a 1/48 scale a manufacturer might think twice to develop and produce an unpopular variant. So I feel that 1/60 hits the sweet spot regarding PT Valykries.
  15. Now that May has arrived I'm eagerly waiting for the release of the YF-29 Super Parts for this Valkyrie. Still four more weeks to go.
  16. Mine is still in Osaka! Damn you Golden Week!
  17. Some reports indicate that they fixed the wing pegs so they don't pop out during transformation. That might vary from toy to toy.
  18. Got the shipping notice yesterday. Should arrive hopefully at the same as the VF-17S from Yamato so I can compare both of them.
  19. Don't stick things into things where they don't belong! Nice find.
  20. As I stated before I do like the blueish hue on the promotion pictures better then how the toy looks in this review. However I'm excited to hold the toy in my hands since it will be the first rendition of the VF-171 that is in my collection.
  21. Thanks for posting IXTL. Are the instructions different form the VF-171EX Alto Custom?
  22. Besides the obvious reasons like the design/shape/color-scheme the toy has to fit into my collection. That leads straight to the topic of collection building but that was not asked for. So the toy itself should be an actual toy so it should have play value i.e. it is well articulated/gimmicky/transformable. Then because I don't have infinite space it should have presence because I like my cabinets not filled with a bunch of small toys that distract the eye but with few selected exhibits and it should not be part of a giant series. As I said I don't have much room but I also like to have the complete line of toys when I buy one entry in the line. The Yamato 1/60th Macross Plus line would be a good fit for my collection because it only consists of three toys. I feel that the 1/60th Macross toys whether from Bandai or Yamato hit a sweet spot in the attributes stated above. A huge plus is also that I really like the Macross shows and OVAs so I have an emotional attachment to the toys so I can appreciate them besides great engineering (which I enjoy a lot being an engineer myself). Of course there are the occasional spikes where I buy a toy (or a statue/model) because I really like the design but those are seldom. A good example would be the Evil Doppelganger Black Rodimus Masterpiece which I bough because the color scheme is awesome and I thought the transformation would be cool. Of course I snapped of a leg during the first transformation because I wasn't aware of the fused leg issue.
  23. How can Ozma look so dynamic with that Armor on. I envy him! The pictures look great! Now I have the urge to tighten the joints on mine to create such poses.
  24. Awh Bandai you never stop to amaze me.
