  1. Yeah yeah sales taxes. Regarding the billing practice of NY one can assume that the updated the store software and something changed with their billing. Not all companies are evil and try to milk their customers not everyone is like google. You can get infuriated when NY refuses the currency switch, adds a $100 fee because you asked a stupid question and cancels your account afterwards so you loose all your preoders. I just brought up the topic because someone said that the price in USD was not worth the toy. Yeah the TRU example was not chosen wisely it was just a clarification that you don't deal with such stuff when you buy in retail.
  2. Although I understand the urge to save every buck you can but when you clicked on the preorder button there was a price at this point in time that you where willing to pay for the item because you had mostly no idea how the Yen/USD exchange ratio will go (If you did you should aim at a career in the investment branch sector). So I don't understand the whole fuss about the exchange rate. If you buy a Transformer at TRU you pay the price printed on the box and don't make any calculations on how the material and labor costs have developed since they announced the item. As I pointed out I understand the reason behind the money saving aspect but I don't understand the fuss about it. If the Yen/USD rate went the other way (which happened in the past and can happen in the future) you would gladly stick to the USD prerorder. I checked the price when preordering and I thought the toy was worth it so I have no problems to stick with that price. PS: I would be glad if software systems would always run without any errors.
  3. Hope we all get a pristine copy of the toy from NY. I'm trying to brace my self for the shock when I open mine and one of the breast lasers is missing or the die cast is crumbling in my hands because the joints on the arm is tight as hell. I have to think positive, think positive, think.... What I heard is a payment request 2 weeks prior to the release of an item for preorders standard procedure at NY.
  4. God damn my VF-19S is sitting on my desk looking all Docker and stuff and I'm thinking a VF-22S or VF-17S would look good with it...... *argh* it's killing me...
  5. Kawamori pulled the plug maybe because it didn't had a proper Fokker yellow and thought the green canopy would not look good with the new yellow tone. Also the green fold quartz are not canon. There was a interview with Mr. Valkyrie before the first release of the YF-29 that had some information on the color change but it was all in Japanese and I didn't see a proper translation of the text.
  6. When I first heard of NY I thought it was a shop based in New York.
  7. Mind to share a picture? On a side note it seams that many units shipped by NY have some kind of defect. Either missing crotch pieces, bend head lasers and missing boob-lasers on the VF-171. I wondering if NY is buying up stock that didn't pass the QC on the other shops. I remember a quote from HLJ that said they cant sell a chunk of their stock because of QC-issues. NY seems to just sell whatever they can get hold of. I don't want to accuse NY but their name is mentioned significantly more often then other shops when it comes to units that have some kind of defect and I wonder why that is. You can proof me wrong if you can and I would be pleased if someone can because I have 3 Bandai Valkyries ordered from them. On the other hand NY seems to ship a lot of units maybe 10 times more then other shops so it would be logical that they have more defects then other shops just because they ship more.
  8. I don't know if the price is really there to attract a legal buyer. Maybe the speculate on a foreign buyer and try to cheat. International buyers might not know the difference between $10.000 and $10,000 because the dot/comma are interpreted differently in other countries. Also it could be used for money-washing deals but that is a rather far fetch. Don't know but sounds fishy to me (besides the price point).
  9. Well you have to make hay while the sun shines! Next week Arcadia could announce a reissue of the VF-4 as FB2012 Version.
  10. I guess they could have added a third peg in the middle of the transformation shield to allow for a center mounting point. The forearms already have slots for the gun-pod so additional slots wouldn't be necessary. Maybe the reason for the design the chosen was the perfect transformation of the toy because this way you can transform the toy without removing the shield.
  11. As Loop said the transformation shield is not centered which is for me really a bummer. I like the additional parts but for the shield I have no place to store it.
  12. Yes I'm really like the second shield including the points you made but it's a shame that I have no storage for it. I should buy some revo-container or something else. The boxes for the Renewal add-on packs are also full with additional parts and far away in storage.
  13. I assume that some folks preordered as much as they could get to make sure the get the amount the want because the market is, as I said, overheated. So some will let their preorders go until the release date. These are not the only reasons there are still a lack of founding or a change of mind of course. So additional units can be available at the release date. Of course this is a gamble but you have the releases of the two other Frontier DX Chogokins to observe what's happening. Also there is always the possibility that the retailers get additional stock from Bandai so they can open their preorders again (unlikely but it happened). I got my VF-25G after release from amiami. Without the preorder discount of course but I got it non the less and with that release the preorder madness was already waging.
  14. Thanks for the tip I will try to get it working during the next transformation. Oh, another nitpick would be the two shields. I really like the anime accurate shield (because it's in the show) but I hate the missing storage for the other shield. I tried to make the Blazer a double shield Valkyrie but that looks stupid. I need some kind of storage solution but I don't like the zip-lock bags. I would preferred it if Yamato just didn't include the second shield so I'm not torn apart between the two.
  15. Ok I fiddled with my VF-19S today after it arrived from Angolz and it is amazing. I only transformed it for Fighter to Battroid because the Gewalk joint on the right leg wouldn't extend and I was anxious to break it (after I had the Valkyrie in Battroid mode it came loose by itself). The VF-19 is really astonishing. I like the design of the Frontier Valks generally more and prefer the YF-19 over the VF-19 but holy guacamole is it fun do play with *swoosh*. I would preferred a matte painted surface surface but that is only aesthetic. I will see how much I bothered with the Gerwalk-mode after a little bit more play time but I can say I like it. I don't love it at the moment but that can change. Sad to see Yamato go but now I have a memoriam. Ah and one of the tail wings does not peg in well as far as I can see but that is only a minor nitpick.
  16. I would say wait until release date to get one. You could monitor the releases of the VF-171CF and the RVF-25 to see how fast an when the stock on release day sells out. Also you could check this tread and see if some store can acquire more stock and reopen their preorder slots. Personally I would not pay the NY prices now because the market is overheating at the moment. But if you have the spare money and think better save then sorry than see of NY opens again with another markup. The last preorder windows stayed open awhile so the best solution would be to camp this thread here. Good luck!
  17. Well the good thing about the HLJ preorders is that some people will now cancel their preorder at NY meaning that NY will maybe open up their preorders again. Edit: I think he's referring to the recent HLJ preorders.
  18. I wonder how many (if any) of the items preordered from amiami are sold by NY.
  19. I feel your pain with the high markup but now I feel slightly better for ordering a YF-29 just a few days before the announcement of the reissue. Strange. I think I should order another VF-25S when it's got a re-release just to have some spare parts if anything gets damaged on my display Valkyries. I already have a broken metal hip bar on my Alto that needs a replacement. Damn I should start do learn 3D modeling or Japanese to resolve the issue myself. I'm really hoping that my preorders show up in good shape and not missing any parts or are broken/bend right out the box.
  20. Psst don't tell me that will eliminate the whole fun of finding out. But now I'm a member of the secret society of secret things. *puts on an acolyte robe and hums*
  21. Man I' really stoked what the whole deal is with those PMs going around the MAcross World. Is it a secret treasure map to Bandais warehouses? An IE zero day exploit to allow shopping without any lags or the fear of getting booted out at the check out? A secret telephone number where you can reserve as many DX Chogokins as you like for the tiny price of your worthless Gajin soul? A drug that makes you believe you're Scrooge Mc Duck and instead of swimming in a pile of money you're swimming in a sea of Renewals? What is it? Its a mystery packed inside a mystery packed inside an enigma. But I will find out! *grabs the Indiana Jones hat and whistles a song*
  22. True but the situation that you pay more for a preoder than for a direct order is still strange to me. But that's the dynamic of the market and scalpers speculate and lose I guess.
  23. Look who's playing secret society here. It's kinda funny that Bandai (and the market) created a situation where you have to fill a preorder in for a markup and then you can buy it after release cheaper (see YF-29). Shouldn't it be the other way round? *dreams of the nice amiami preorder discounts*
  24. I'm glad that I have one already. Now I can sit back and watch the World burn. Macross World that is.
  25. If not Yamato then definitely Bandai. I have a few Transformers Masterpiece toys and in my opinion they are inferior to Bandais offerings (DX Chogokin Renewal Valkyries <=> Takara tomy Masterpiece) Yeah I know paint scratching is an common issue from Bandai items but the paint jobs on some of the Sideswipe Masterpieces were just horrid. Thanks but no thanks. And even if they could make Macross popular in the West due to HG has a sudden change of heard or would be burned out of reality with Balefire I shiver to think what Hasbro or even Toynami would do with the license. I honestly think that Bandai would achieve the best results with the help of some external design teams. On the other hand Bandai is such a huge company that the probably never green-light projects like Yamato did with all the obscure Valkyries and color shemes. You would probably need a small company run by fans for fans like.... Yamato
