The VF-171 doesn't seem to have any of the problems that the version 1 VF-25s had. Line art accurate Designed with Super Parts in mind Sturdy material Some sporadic QC issues Besides the somewhat tricky transformation people seem to have no problems with it Seems to have sold well So I would doubt that Bandai sees the need to redo them except releasing a reissue but because Bandai are a bunch of crazy people you never know what happens next.

Thanks for the clarification shawnlee. I should make it more clear that with Bandai reissues I meant reissues of web shop exclusives.

He means that you find a proxy buying service of your liking and send them these links so the proxy can buy them for you, add a mark-up and shipping and then sending it to you. There might be also units available at the on-line retailers on release date due to customers canceling their preorders.

I don't know if you ever get a Quarter release with bigger Valks because they are already way to huge for the scale of the Quarter itself. There was a 1/250 (?!?) fighter collection from Bandai that included the Frontier Valkyries. If you want something in that scale you should might want to take a look at these. I figured out that much. I would love a renewal Quarter with bright colors (the one on the current toy just look incredibly drab), a secure locking mechanism for cruiser mode and a flight deck storage solution that doesn't require additional parts.

Last time I checked NY still had some available. They where even discounted as far as I remember.

I have to agree the photos of the VF-19F look really stunning. Great job! -
I don't know about that. The Armored and Super Parts where Tamashii Web Shop exclusives and as far as I know Bandai reissue does not very often if at all. For example the didn't reissue the Super Parts for the YF-29 when the re releases the actual Valkyrie.
-
Ok I bit the bullet and ordered a VF-17S..... awaiting the delivery desperately.... and now I'm thinking I should order a VF-22S Max Type... oh look there is one over at Mandarake.

These are only the Armored Parts not the Valkyrie itself. Think of it as a new dress for a Barbie. There are two add-on sets for the VF-25s Super and Armor Parts so be aware of what you buy. http://www.nippon-yasan.com/lang-en/macross/4884-macross-f-dx-chogokin-vf-25f-messiah-valkyrie-saotome-alto-custom-renewal-version-reissue.html This is the toy itself. [edit: ] Man I should have bought the VF-25F Armored Parts when no reissue was announced. *sigh* If Bandai re-releases the Armored Parts for Alto I might buy one so I can get better intake covers and a correctly colored lining for the crotch armor.

Well if their in a zero gravity environment you need some kind of magnetic boots so you don't fly out into the void. These mechanisms would clearly be a danger to any kind of sensitive technical equipment. So for me it makes perfect sense that in a scenario like this "No Step" signs on the underside of the wing have some kind of benefit. In regards of Chronocidal point you can retcon anything into anything with enough imagination. The white Skull and Crossbones on the white YF-29 Anniversary might be to trick the enemy so they doesn't know that an ace pilot is flying the Valkyrie. So they underestimate the piloting skills and are being easily shot down. But because the markings are still their the pilot can feel like a bad ass because of it.

Well in space there is no gravity so a technician or the pilot might actually step on the underside of the wings when the do fixes in a weightless environment. Far-fetched but in some crazy scenario still possible. On the other hand I doubt that the person who was in charge of the markings was having this thought when the tampo printing layout was made.

I have to agree I just can't get enough of posing and transforming the toy. I just can't get over the lacking Gerwalk-Mode but the VF-19S sits on the desk in a deep kneeling pose aiming his gun. Quite awsome! Gerwalk-Mode would be cool when posing the toy on a stand but I don't have one. Also the VF-19 seems so heavy that know Yamato stand can hold it firmly. But those are nitpicks and for cool Gerwalk toys I have a VF-25S Renewal Armored Messiah. Loving my VF-19S and it makes me want to buy more Yamato M7 releases. [edit: ] Is it safe to pose the toy for a longer period of time on one leg? The angle joints already seem to loosen up for Gerwalk. I'm a little bit worried and don't want to make it worse.

No announcement yet but you can fit the old Tornado Packs onto the Renewal Valkyries. Most parts fit out of the box but you have to mod the leg and arm armor so it fits securely. Here you find a description how to do it. http://gbmshop.blogspot.de/2011/11/how-to-equip-tornado-pack-ver1-on-vf.html

Well the Bandai products where already payed before Yamato went belly up. And MP-11B was released this month. expensive expensive.
-
The urge to buy a VF-17S is getting stronger and stronger but I have to wait until I get more funds. Expensive months coming up with the VF-171CF (+ Armor Parts), the YF-29 30th Anniversary Super Parts and the RVF-25 Renewal. Oh I should actually be happy about the amazing toys that come out over the next months including one that is similar to the VF-17.

My VF-19S pilot seems to be one solid piece of flexible plastic. The others seem to be of the same type so they don't have any points of articulation. I assume you could turn the head with enough force due to the nature of the flexible material but you're clearly not supposed to to that. Don't do that because it will stress the material resulting in a headless pilot figure!
-
You mean the base Valkyrie itself? I wondered that too after I saw how many units of the VF-25F Renewal reissue are going to be shipped by NY and seeing that stock of the YF-29 30th Anniversary is still available. On the other hand that seems only applies to NY because the other on-line retailers seem to have gotten the same amount units judging by the time the preorder slot was open. The HLJ (and another shop I can't remember which) had an extended preorder window but that might be due to opening in the middle of the night in East Asia,

Without checking: Anime Export and Tokyo Hunters are places where you could other Tamashii Webshop Exclusives in the past. So I would recommend to check those out. Also somewhat earlier in this thread there where shops mentioned where you could order them iirc.

True but I wrote that post with no limitations in funding and availability in mind. If the SDFM VF-1J is to far off you could always customize one with a VF-1J kit. If you know the right people and/or have enough money you can get a pretty good result. But since the shutdown of Yamato these thoughts are pretty silly because right now rule #1 is: buy what you can still get. I would love to have a Yamato Mcaross Plus collection with an updated YF-19.
-
I think the best varying Macross line to collect would be M7 there you have: VF-19Kai which is as close to a updated YF-19 you can get, the VF-19P would be a closer match due to the leg fins and color scheme but is not in the main show so I prefer the Kai VF-19S without canards and stubby wings VF-17S Gamlin Type VF-11C cannon fodder VF-1J Miria Type VF-22S Max Type So you get five different types of Valkyries all with a different transformation scheme. In Macross Frontier you only get two transformation schemes (the VF-25/27/YF-29 and the VF-171). The only down side for me is the fact that the VF-19 toys are cast in a glossy plastic and don't fit in very well with the other Valkyries. Also if you like to display your VFs in Battroid-Mode the VF-19 looks a little bit small compared to the VF-22S and the VF-17S.
-
It does. I saw a screenshot in the VB-6 thread that showed the landing gear of the Koenig Monster.
-
It had no landing gear! I don't need a VF-6 Renewal but a reissue of the old mold would be awesome. Also I can't see Bandai doing a Quarter Renewal because the last iteration seemed not have been sold very well. But nonetheless I would love to see a new Quarter that locks together tight in Carrier mode and has a vibrant paint job because the current Quarter looks kinda drab. As for a good Frontier Valkyrie to start with I would recommend any of the VF-25 Renewals because they are the main VF-type in the show. If you cannot stand MF just choose the one with your favorite color scheme. If you're a fan of the add-on packs and you want one on your VF-25 be aware that the Armored Packs (the bulkier add-ons) are and will only be release for Alto (the white plane with black and red markings) and Ozma (the gray plane with yellow and black markings). The Super Parts are only available for Alto and Ozma but should be releases for the other two VF-25s (the blue and the pale green one) in the future. As a side note. I can't understand how you can judge Macross Frontier from the first 15 Minutes because there it's mostly High School drama and no Valkyrie action. It is a good show but some episodes are hard to watch if you can't stand some of the more "popular" themes in current Anime. Plus it can't rival my love for M7 (and Plus ).

Did you discover the SMS markings?

Without the shut down of Yamato (is it confirmed that they went bankrupt?) I wouldn't have bout my VF-19S. Not at a bad price. I don't feel bad about it because without the Yamato crash I would bought any Yamato Valkyries because I need the funds for Bandais Renewal line. On the other hand. I love M7 and now that I have one Valkyrie I feel that I need more for a proper display. So if Arcadia is releasing the M7 line I might have the urge to buy a VF-19 Kai, VF-11C, VF-17S, VF-22S Max type and a VF-1 Miria type. So I'm not sure that I'm happy that the Macross line from Arcadia shows some life signs or that I'm now into the Acradia toy lines. So much mixed feelings inside of me because the VF-19S is awesome but expensive.
