  1. It is a bummer that Arcadia seems unwilling to sell the add-on part on their own it seems. I don't need another DYRL VF-1S Focker Custom. I already have one. What I don't have are the Super Strike Parts!

    Bandai DX VF-31

In addition I'm sure that Bandai will color-code the hell out of the different add-on sets. And who would be crazy enough deploy a blue colored laser gun on a magenta colored Valkyrie?
  3. I agree with you that with MP Magnus Masterpiece Transformers took the wrong term. From MP-10 upwards to MP-21 (with the exception of the Seeker reuse) they where great toys. Since MP-22 I have mixed feelings about them. None of the releases where stellar in my eyes. I thought Laserwave would be a turning point but it seems like it doesn't cater to my linkings. That said while I'm highly critical of many of the design decisions Takara took on Magnus it has still an exciting transformation that is mind boggling in many aspects to me even today especially when you take into consideration how you can transform him with ease. It is something to behold. Tracks on the other hand is all sorts of terrible. The head doesn't lock into place it just floats on top of his platform. The ratchets in the arms doesn't allow for a natural stance. The leg ratchets are loose and need to be fixed by the collector. And the backpack.... ...well at first it resists any attempts to make it look acceptable and secondly it looks nothing like his collar in the cartoon which is weird because Takara seems to be all over cartoon accuracy now. Maybe it is the same issue with Ironhides chest. In the mind of the designer Tracks has the back of the car as a high up backpack so thats where it is now. The same goes for Ironhides belly. Tracks has some strong points but they are all bellow his waist. Leg transformation is creative and the paint job of the car looks superb. If you get him for cheap than it might be worth a try but the MP line can be so much more. Bumble would be a good example for this. If they could implemented a hand transformation similar to the seeker design he wouldn't have hallow forearms and be pretty much perfect (well maybe add another layer of yellow paint). You can probably get G2 Goldbug pretty cheap as well if you want to check the Masterpiece line out. The MP releases after 21 just feel unfinished to me. Like they need 1-2 more design passes and a guy that keeps them consistent with the rest of the line. And Primal doesn't to anything for me. Oh well more funds for Valkyries and Gundams. Quick question. MP Laserwave feels like a Yuki design to me. The lack of almost any paint reminds me of MP Star Saber and the stickers. Oh man I almost could understand the inclusion but the thoughts are so twisted that I get a headache thinking about how they came to be.
  4. Transforming jets are hard.... I wonder how Maketoys Darkwing and Dreadwind are gonna be. I hope they don't try to do a F-16 for Dreadwind. Btw. am I the only one who gets the two mixed up? I always think they are Darkwind and Dreadwing. Maybe because the Darkwing term is hardwired in my brain to a talking duck.
  5. I love the last shot of the VF-4G. So much in fact that I had to recreate it.
  6. I haven't heard of the issue with the chrome parts before. The issue with the rupper probably stems from the weather in your area. so basically humidity and temperature will lead to a faster deterioration of the rubber material.
  7. Speculation time: it could be due to some additive that prevent these toys from yellowing.
  8. An over the shoulder gun turret would be awesome.
  9. So if Arcadia is releasing the Super Strike Parts as an add-on set this yields following question to me (given they are not color-coded for a specific Valkyrie): do I buy two for the two Arcadia VF-0S I own or do I buy four and hope that Arcadia releases the rest of Skull Squadron down the line?

    Bandai DX VF-31

According to the picture hidden in the spoiler tags it just folds into three parts where the two outer parts fold down 90 degrees to create the VF-31 box (sorta). See here: http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=43115&p=1267124

That radome sure is disappointing in its transformation. However this is exactly how I thought it would transform. Still a disappointment.
  12. Regarding Ironhide that won't go away even in hand. However the transformation and overall quality of the toy makes it easier to overlook the beer belly. However it is there and it doesn't help that I can see his upper torso on my shelfs standing behind the other bots (unflattering perspective). I really wished the included a face torso piece like on MP-10 and while Ironhide was meant to have the hood and windshield of the Nissan as a chest it doesn't look like that in most of the Transformers media. I would recommend MP Ultra Magnus. The mold has (major) issues but a great and easy to pull off transformation. It is just a fun toy to mess with. If you want to go with a Car-Bot I want to make a strong case for the Datsun brothers. Anyone will do but I think you can get a blue Bluestreak fairly cheap nowadays and it looks spectacular. It has the right joints everywhere and is fun to transform and play with. If you want to try a 3rd party Masterpiece you should consider MMCs Sphinx (Mirage). The toy is a bit marred by all the die-cast in the legs (read: they should have used ratchet joints in the hips) but it has everything I want from a Masterpiece Transformer. Quality paint applications, die-cast mostly in the right places, rubber tires, stunning transformation, joints galore: all in all a fantastic package.
  13. That is correct: http://www.hlj.com/product/TKT81692
  14. I think the a.t.a.t. manifested into my own speech after building this model-kit: It clearly states that AT-AT is an abbr. of All Terrain Armored Transport so I got the idea that a.t.a.t. should be the correct way to spell it. And while I'm willing to fight you to the bone in this thread you can clearly call it however you want in conversations.... ...you're clearly wrong though. *sign* a memories. I think I threw this model into the trash a few years ago while cleaning the attic. Was not my best work.
  15. I really recommend Breaux Mans transformation videos for these toys (credit to David for the hint). It will save you a lot of headache. I hope you enjoy him.
  16. I leave them open to show as much of the parts count of the toy as possible. ...I probably should deploy the missile bay too.
  17. Be careful you have to check if Down Forces canopy is still intact. If I remember correctly many people rotated it the wrong way and broke it. Also some of the edges on Car Crash and T-Bone are prone to get caught during transformation so they might have stress marks on them. T-Bone in particular since he is not white . Also be sure to check the arm connectors some people ripped them out (it is a constant danger on mine even if I try to keep David tips in mind). I also think there is a potential breakage issue with the hinges and ratchets in the upper torso so be sure to check those also. Also the official name of the combiner is M³ I believe.
  18. Oh Takara, this makes me so sad, so very very sad: http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/transformers-news-rumors/1064432-mp-14-anime-color-alert-takaratomy-mall-exclusive.html
  19. Here is a playlist of the Warbotron Computron by Bobby Skullface: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TEfPT1Qh6U0&list=PLtI3sxvRuL_m6WE0xqaZTJtdgqjr2CA0n He also did a review on Quantron: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yQtCVRPYL-M&list=PLDd86sl_T76t5JDCPPyyz6EjtF64Lt0cm I wouldn't touch that stuff with a 10 foot pole. Regarding Quantron. I really like the FP/MT combiner aesthetic but all their stuff has some problems you have to overlook to really enjoy their products. Also I think their stuff doesn't go well with any other product on the market other than their own bots, so their stuff is their own universe. The good parts of Computron: The look and feel is fantastic. Plastic quality is great, good mix of paint, opaque plastic and translucent parts. Great sculpt and sharply molded edges. Each member is a solid toy on its own Many built in play patterns. Good posability and solid stance. Intriguing transformations on all the limb bots (Metal Storm not so much) The bad parts of Computron: Most people seem to hate Sonic Drills transformation (I think it is great) Plastic pins for the joints Really thin torso Some engineering doesn't seem to be thought through all the way (the giant L-shaped strut on Metal Stroms back The hip, waist and knee area on the torso are not really well proportioned. The transformation on the torso is a letdown (why isn't the head stored away in some sort of compartment). Even if they tried to hide it you have the thigh elbows on the arms. In addition you have to stare at the hollowed out backside of the thighs. I hate hate hate the way Blindfire transforms into arm mode (hide those fists or at least give him some white knuckle guards to hide them better) The Celeritas leg is held together by translucent parts (haven't heard of any breakage but it is scary es hell) The main gun is a bit under detailed (no paint apps) and does not really have a good storage spot on the toy You see the toy has many problems. However if you are into the aesthetic of the FP/MT robots he is totally worth it (for a healthy discount). Especially if you are planning to but other combiners from the two companies (Guardia, M³, Ryu-Oh) he is a worthy addition to your collection.
  20. I would love to get a voyager or even Masterpiece version of Windblade. The deluxe doesn't do it. I don't understand why the rear landing gear doesn't fold away. Maybe a 3rd party company will hear my pleads.
  21. The problem are the spires on the Decepticon insignia is either not cut out as a corner but rather a rounded corner on the bigger stickers. On the smaller ones the spires aren't cut out at all so you got a straight line on the top of the symbol. I even asked Reprolabels if they are planning to change that but they said this isn't possible.
  22. I think Reprolabels are fine however I loathe their white bordered Decepticon logos since they are not cut correctly. Sadly the most 3rd party bots I have are Decepticons so I can't use their stickers.
  23. After all the retooling done for Computron I wonder if Takara will do a new torso for Leokaiser. Actually making a Leozack and Jaruga would be awesome. Since where close to the end of Combiner Wars I was thinking if someone at Hastak has thought about Duocons that combine to a CW torso. You know selling them as a two pack at the voyager price point and they could be a vehicle, a robot and half of a torso. That's probably not G1 enough though.
