  1. Gigapowers Guttur is actually bigger than Fanstoys Sever. I think they are too big compared to MP-10 but I also don't get the appeal of toys being big for the sake of being big.
  2. That depends on what you are looking for. I would not go for the both combiner sets. If you like Masterpieces you have two options: Your preference is the G1 cartoon go with Fanstoys. They have a proven track record and released four of the Dinobots already with Grinder (a Grimlock homage) being released later this ear/early 2017 it seems. Their Scoria (Slag) shows a bit of his age and that he was the second toy Fanstoys released so he is not as polished as the others. Soar (Swoop) has painted gray parts which no other release has and on top of it they added some sparkles to it (I honestly don't know why) Sever (Snarl) is a pretty good toy but has some clearance issues the way the tail and torso transform. He is also missing the gorgeous red paint that Scoria has and is instead sporting a red plastic that doesn't have the same look and feel if you look at it closely. Stomp (Sludge) was released a week ago and I hadn't had a chance to check it out. He and Grinder are sporting translucent necks (like the toys) that isn't show accurate but in general Stomp seems like the best of the bunch which leaves me with high hopes for Grinder. The toys have a good quality but they are lacking the smooth and clear transformation most of the official Masterpiece toys have but are nowhere near as frustrating and fiddly as the X-Transbot release. They fit right into the other Masterpieces (M-10 to MP-21). They have good bit of diecast built into them and have many small details picked out in color. The main releases also go well with the official MP Grimlock but they are taller and bulkier so they don't fit that well together in bot mode. Fanstoys also have different sub-lines like the X releases that come with silver paint on the main gray plastic parts to mimic the G1 comic release as well as G2 and Diaclone colors. There is another company that seem to be deeply connected with Fanstoys (the have the same spokesperson on the boards and use the same factory) that showed a more cartoon focused design of snarl that gets rid of some of the design issues with Scoria. For example the bot torso has a better shape since the dino tail isn't just folded up on it (which is also not very secure on Scoria). Your preference are the G1 toys I would go with Gigapower because they are more in line with that, are bigger and bulkier and have a better finish than the Fanstoys ones. They only released Gutter (Snarl) so far but shown prototypes for the other members with the exception of Grimlock I believe. To me there might be a possibility that they never finish all five Dinobots because they seem rather slow in their development. If you are more into updated looks I think your best option are the Fall of Cybertron Dinobots from Planet-X. They released all five members so no need to worry if they will be ever complete and they are high quality toys. The aesthetic might not be up your ally though since they sport the glowing Energon bits from the games.
  3. I hope Paik also had the chance to look at MMCs Carnifex. This is probably my most anticipated Transformers toy this year besides Kultur (and the Delta Valkyries of course).

    Bandai DX VF-31

I like them. Watching the preview episode I was worried that the where only the booster packs and nothing else but the new images show that they have basically the same parts as the VF-25 Super parts with the exception of the lower arm armor since they now have Gundam Strike Freedom style shields on the forearms.
  5. You can absolutely give the wings to Leo Dux or Tigris and have a cool winged lion or tiger if you want to. Works in bot mode too if I remember correctly.

    Bandai DX VF-31

I think I will go with the same scheme as with the Frontier Valkries. I buy one copy of each Valkyrie that has a mold difference and one of each add-on set so Ideally I have 4 Valkyries with 4 different add-on sets and one bare VF-31. Same goes for any Windermere Valkyries and NUNS forces.

    Bandai DX VF-31

Nice. There seems to be much more to the Super Parts than I initially thought from the preview episode. I think I still prefer the boosters of the VF-25 over these VF-11 inspired ones. I wonder how the Armored Parts look if there are any.
  8. I know what you mean. I had the same problem when I attempted to transform Wheeljack a few weeks back. I was scared to a point where I put him aside again in fear of breaking him.
  9. I guess I'm a bit of an oddity among Transformers collectors. While I have nostalgia for the Transformers due to a handful toys I had as a kid since my mother was against me playing with "war toys" (mainly G1 Dreadwind who was my most beloved toy as a kid. Other than that I had a few small bots mainly from the Euro G1 toy line) and the comics I read in the news stand when I was skipping music lessons I'm not a super fan. I'm manly in for the cool robots and could care less about scale or accuracy to the source material; if it's well made and oozes quality I'm interested. I even bought my first MTMTE comic after I bought Cynicus, Anarchus and Commotus last year because I wanted to know whats up with the robots I'm having in my shelves. That said it was probably a bad idea since now I want MMC to make more toys inspired by MTMTE. Maybe remolding an IDW styled Star Saber from Carnifex?
  10. That is so awesome. I'm totally on board for Kultur and Carnifex. Man, I must sound like a crazy MMC fanboy but I just can't help it. Someone on the TFW boards mentioned that the DJD line wasn't that successful for MMC so I hope this one does fine. I really hope they continue their Reformatted line. If I had to chose between those and MP Transformers I favor the Reformatted bots without a second thought. [edit:] That Titanika
  11. One popular theory is that the ladder is folded inside his chest. I personally think that the ladder was just too difficult to 3D print so they omitted it on the prototype. My biggest problem with the new style is that it is inconsistent with the rest of the Masterpieces. I want the new bots fit right in with the other robots on my shelf. It is also inconsistent in the toy itself. Inferno and Ironhide both have highly detailed chests because that are parts of a real life vehicle but the rest of the toy has the stylized cartoon look going for it which is really glaring to me. Especially since MP Ironhide would benefited from a fake, cartoon accurate chest since it would removed the beer belly. They also trying to rewrite the past with the new MP Red Alert that tries to hide car details with paint to make it more cartoon accurate. I think it is save to assume that we will get more releases like that. Maybe I should start my MP collection all over again. I hope MMC is still sticking to Hasuis vision of the Masterpiece line. I think the Ox designs are well fitted for that style. Ironhide is a great toy with a stunning transformation but it just doesn't fit well into the other Masterpieces, I've checked today. There is stuff I like with Inferno. The fact that the front wheels fold backwards is a boon to the toys silhouette. Since I value consistency that highly the Masterpiece line is really a roller coaster ride ever since the MP Bumble release. MP Magnus is unfinished. MP Star Saber is lacking in fit and finish, MP Tracks terrible from the waist up, MP Ironhide too cartoon accurate legs and a beer belly, MP Rodimus doesn't hold well together in car mode, MP Shockwave no paint and no painted faction symbol (I hope the Ocean decals can fix that but I'm not sure applying them over the seam through the forearms). No release was without one major flaw to me which is sad. It is probably the best just to stop collecting the MP line, selling the ones I have and stocking up on Reformatted toys.
  12. I'm will stick to my Backdraft order. In short MMC just offers more of what I'm looking for in my collection. In addition Backdraft fits better into my MP collection prior to Ironhide. My full thoughts can be found here: http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/transformers-news-rumors/1065406-takaratomy-tease-masterpiece-inferno-75.html#post13578876 [edit:] UW Bruticus looks dope: I hope PE releases some color coded feet for this Bruticus.
  13. Finally was able to see the rest of episode 1 and I think I understand now better why Arad wants Hayate in his squad. That is some nice dancing he pulled off.
  14. I think someone from the Macross Speaker Podcast mentioned that cockpit dimensions (or rather dimensions inside a structure) are usually two times the size they would be in reality and that Kawamori was proud that he was able to reduce the inside of the VF-1 cockpit to 1.5 times the actual size. So the inside of the VF-31 is probably bigger on the inside than it is on the outside.
  15. I blame the lineart for the bulkiness of the Reactive Armor on the VF-0S. Every time I look at it over at M³ I think the Phoenix looks fat.
  16. I think the reports of the breaking hip joints is the reason why the VF-0A doesn't sell. Hope they implement some improvements into the Nexx release.
  17. With mouth I mean this opening here: It doesn't seem to be there in the pictures of Fighter- or Gerwalk-Mode so I assume it is created by sliding the lower half of the head down. As for the shield maybe Bandai takes inspiration from the SoC line and just add a replacement piece without hinges that can be pegged in instead of the perfect transformation shield.
  18. Oh noes, I'm in the YF-30 SWS camp also. *cry*
  19. Oh my god I need to check my YF-30.
  20. Thanks for the replies. I myself was surprised about HLJs release dates because I thought the MB Exia ought to be releases later this year. Oh well time to update my toy budget spread sheet.
  21. What is the exact release date for the Metal Build Exia Repair III reissue? HLJ states 31st of May which would be too late for my PW shipping deadline.
  22. Does the head turret have a small mouth that opens up for Battroid-Mode? Few thoughts: I think that the gun connector on the back is ugly as hell. Do the drones mount to the hard points shown in the pictures? The gun-pod looks a bit underwhelming to me Sadly no shoulder mounted gun in Battroid-Mode The unpainted hinges are a real eyesore!
  23. I would gladly pay shipping if I get the replacement part. So far NY hasn't responded to my ticket.
