  1. Would you guys be interested in a shapeways replacement shoulder for Yamato's YF-19? I designed one for M'kyuun and tested it out. It seems to work quite well. The catch is you need to remove the plastic cap that hides a pair of screen that keep the main shoulder together to install. Also due to their Shapeways's tolerances I left the shoulder pad flap separate in a way that needs a small hole drilled to connect it to the main part. I assembled one for M'kyuun and another friend of mine tested it out on his older YF-19. The price will start at five dollars for a single shoulder assembly. It works with the other replacement parts I made.
  2. Chie Kajiura writes her name in katakana which is generally used for words of foreign origin so she's just using the western name convention in addition to that. It's kind of a way to add flair.
  3. Here's my review with video! http://collectiondx.com/toy_review/2014/yf29_durandal_valkyrie_ozma_lee_custom
  4. I think any mecha merchandise will be in a noticeably reduced capacity.
  5. It costs a lot of money to design and produce a transforming robot toy which is not true of a fixed posed figure. It is why there are at least ten times the number of Sheryl and Ranka figures when compared to the Valkyries which at best are at four unique molds for Frontier stuff. You see it with the YF-29 and how they are trying to release more variants so they can recoup their initial investment in creating all the tooling so they produce them in low numbers just enough to turn a profit.
  6. I just skim over endless "I hate Macross 7" posts honestly. Saves on the repetition. What's even the point of even bringing up shops outside of Japan still having these toys in stock? That's not Macross's market.
  7. Find me a shop in Japan that still has the Fire Valkyrie in stock.
  8. It could easily include mecha in the same secondary capacity AKB0048 did. You know that other show Kawamori did which was more Macross than Macross.
  9. Upsetting longtime fans isn't really a problem anymore because they are being outnumbered by the new ones. That's progress.
  10. we just said that dorvack, orguss, (and Sasuraiger! Sasuraiger yeaaaah!)
  11. When Renato and I did a podcast talking about Takatoku that was apparently true even back with the 1/55 Valkyries. I've talked to some small western toy makers and sometimes they just do it for the love of the hobby. People find a niche and manage to scrape by somehow. Plus companies like Bandai have much more successful things to prop them up.
  12. I have no idea where this delusion is coming from considering that Frontier has the exact same setting as 7 and Zero has a lot in common with 7 as well. There's at least a half dozen mecha shows airing now with more on the way. It seems like confidence in that genre is swinging back these days.
  13. Well when you say "other larger mecha franchises" you basically mean Gundam because very little else even compares to that beast and fewer series even get a single sequel let alone the many Macross has gotten. Also not to pick on Mr. March but, This really sounds like you want a sequel to the original Macross that is not the ones you dislike. I mean there already was a sequel to the original Macross that wasn't in II's universe and that was Macross 7. I know you didn't like it but I'm sorry to say it is a big part of what shaped Macross what it is today. Frankly the worship for the original series is getting almost fetishistic and does not line up with what is actually going on with the desires of the Japanese fan base so expecting something else is just setting yourself up for disappointment.
  14. Other than the parallel universe aspect that's pretty much what Frontier was. There's enough fluidity with Macross history that each series builds on old elements in different ways and has a unique feel. I think what you guys really want is just a way to have your macross cake and eat it too. Like somehow putting the shows in the same universe makes you automatically compare them in rather unfair ways. A new universe could be as easily disappointing as Macross II was but I guess having to only judge it against itself would help mitigate the letdown? To me it seems like maybe you could should just check out some of dozens of other mecha shows both past and present if Macross isn't doing it for you.
  15. She may just start looking like a teenager with Werner's syndrome or something as she grows older. Mini Klan as a whole seemed to suffer from the animators not getting she's supposed to look like she's around Ranka's age or like Mylene in Macross 7 (since Klan is the Mylene part of Lovely Bomber). Instead she was tended to look like she was an irate ten year old. The movies and FB7 make her look older so someone must have wanted to correct that.
  16. I dunno all the kids in Macross 7 Trash just had drama about their T-Link Crush sport where people use roller blade type shoes that let them hover. There's also military guys in powered armor kind of like the Ex-Gear.
  17. Mikimoto attempts to answers this in the manga Macross 7 Trash where it shows kids have their own VR pods in their houses that link them to a virtual class taught by a real teacher and the school itself is just for events like festivals and sports. Of course Frontier just has the characters be in a school so ┐(‘~`;)┌
  18. Just gonna do some max relaxing (re-maxing) until there's some actual news.
  19. Macross 7 is not a parody. It is a rock n' roll journey. Much like the band, Journey.
  20. I dunno if this helps but here's a basic diagram of how the transformation works. It's easy to see in the game but it hard to understand otherwise. There's two sets of swing bars that move the parts around independently and the nosecone is on its own arm that passes between the second set of bars to end up facing to the rear.
  21. Old notes for the show (like the IMAI files) said TLEAD is suppose to stand for something like "Transport Legioss Escort Armored Deadnaught" because that's what it is in a way.
