  1. Guess most of us oldies (I'm in my early 30's, not sure if that's 'old' relative to the Macross community ) could still tolerate Frontier, despite all the hologram girls in battle scenes (Zero/Plus had it but Frontier was more prevalent)...but wardrobe-changing-sailormoons? really? Delta is pushing it, ... way over the top for me. The episode wasnt too bad, not until the sailormoon scenes. You guys discussing about Sidonia made me realized I had forgotten to watch the 2nd season, despite watching the 1st episode when it aired! Gotta catch up with that (tho the manga has also ended). This may sound out of place, but all in all, I am glad Gundam Thunderbolt made its apprearance (manga was good), right when all hope is lost for a gritty, good story-line & characters building, mecha anime. And the fact that I forgot to watch Knights of Sidonia Season 2.

  3. You do know there is already a VF-25A mass produced variant right?
  4. hope they will release the black/white scheme without the itasha tampo...
  5. me neither. maybe the original series that I saw as a kid did not have so much moe & songs ... I was attracted mostly with the mechanical designs & storyline. but hey, lets stick to the topic shall we?
  6. saw the raw too. the dogfight between SV-262's & VF-31's was pretty intense. but the singing part...lets just say I skipped and skipped and skipped...like nothing happened.

    Bandai DX VF-31

Kinda feel meh about the battery pack. Understand where Kamamori is going, since he's always up to date with the latest weaponry techs and railgun is gaining interest in recent years, esp when a US navy ship is equipped with one. But in terms of toy, it doesnt really add to the aesthetic/functionality..basically just a block of plastic = battery pack..i.e Q : what is this block of plastic? what does it do? A : its a battery pack
  9. oooh....menacing!
  10. thats just the reflection from YF-19

so, not much differences between the old and the new 1J. So what's the hype about these being a better release than the previous ones? well, maybe better head sculpt for the 1S and metal shoulder hinges for both (1J & 1S)...but thats it?
  17. We demand a production runnn! Looks soo good. Keep up the good. Work & churn out more Macross goodies!

Yes ... reminded me of the 1/48s, those buffy legs. Got mine today. From the size I'd say its not too small that a sliding heatshield would be too fragile. Seems like its just Bandai's development cost cutting thats preventing a more intricate perfect transformation..so they can price it right.

Since we are discussing landing gears, was wondering in DYRL was there a scene that shows the valk with landing gears? The only landing scene that I can remember was Hikaru w Misa on devastated earth crash landing in gerwalk mode.

Why cant Bandai just copy the heatshield gimmick from the v2 1/60, like what they did on the VF/YF-19?. And make the heatshield in metal, so it will not break. Same goes with the landing gears. Sure, it will be hell to move/slide it in place. But I dont think it will be a big issue (they can still mod Yamato's mechanism). It will rival Yamato's/Arcadia's 1/60 if its perfect transformation. Bought one just to see how it fares. Never owned the 1st ver. Have a feeling I will not like it.

  23. Great review A7!. You may also want to add the part where Frank got his 46,000 Yen by making counterfeit artifacts and selling them thru Robert. From wikipedia : Robert Childan owns American Artistic Handcrafts, an Americana antiques business on Montgomery Street in San Francisco, supplied in part by WyndhamMatson, Inc. He believes the items he sells are genuine, but cannot distinguish the authentic from the counterfeit. Childan has adopted many of the manners and ways of thinking, as well as the English speech patterns, of the Japanese occupiers. However, he is privately contemptuous of the Japanese, retaining his pre-war racist beliefs and reserving his real admiration for the Nazis. Cant wait for 2nd season.
  24. It has too many parts and expensive to manufacture. Bootleging it to offer a cheaper price may not be worth it.
