  1. The quality of the Matchbox toys varied greatly. It all depended on whether the toys were made for Matchbox, such as the cheap plastic VF-1, the hovertank, and the Invid Shock Trooper; or if they were just the Japanese toys in new packaging, such as the SDF-1, and the die-cast/plastic destroids. I never owned any of the cheap plastic toys, but some of my friends did. For the most part, they were just pretty ugly and lacked detail, but from what I recall they pretty sturdy. I still have the only two destroids that I bought, the Tomahawk, and Defender. Sadly, the Defender is missing the gun barrels on its right "arm". Both toys were actually made by Bandai.
  2. I totally agree. Why would VW even care which car of theirs makes them money in the US market? They'd be making money either way. Does this mean that they don't sell the GTI over in Europe?
  3. Sorry, Jasonc, to be specific, I was referring to the part of the post that said some of the mods at RT.com have let their status go to their heads.
  4. I'm speechless! I remember years ago dreaming of making my own 2-3 ft long DYRL version Macross model. I hate to admit that dreaming of making it was about as far as I got.
  5. I can't believe that I haven't seen this thread until now! It's quite an incredible and impressive project to say the least. If I didn't know any better, I'd swear that this was an effects piece for an actual movie instead of just a person enjoying one of their hobbies.
  6. Which, sadly these days, seem to be most of them.
  7. That looks really nice, Bri. It's just a shame that, from what I hear, they won't be releasing the Scirocco in the US.
  8. I've been wanting to see this OVA for about 20 years now!
  9. That would be 1953's The War of the Worlds. I'll watch it anytime that I fond out that it's on TV. Even to this day, the Martians in that movie creep me out!
  10. It definitely sounds like a phishing attempt. I've never received any e-mails from Blizzard and I've had a WoW account for about 4 years now.
  11. Nice, I like how three of us responded to the same question!
  12. Currently, not very likely. Bandai holds the license to make toys of the Frontier mecha. The Supervision Army was never part of the Protoculture republic. The Supervision Army came into existence when some of the Protoculture fell under the mind control of the Protodevlin.
  13. Galactica wasn't the first to use vectoring thrusters in space fights. In fact, Macross actually did it in DYRL (1984). Also not to forget, the Earth Alliance fighters in Babylon 5 also used vectoring thrusters (1993-98).
  14. The most I'd ever want is for the original TV series to be reanimated using the DYRL style. Everything else would stay the same, except for maybe having the Zentradi speaking Zentradi.
  15. I don't know if I'm in the minority or not, but I think this plane looks cooler than the F-22 and the YF-23.!

    DYRL SDF-1

I have the exact same model! I got mine 12 years ago on my second trip to Japan. I still have yet to build it, though.
  17. If this is what you come up with when you're bored, I'd love to see what your serious projects look like!
  18. I thought it did have a prequel. I think it was called "New Generation" or something of the like!
  19. I think it's pretty funny that most of the fan art is better than the art from the actual show!
  20. Actually, Pete, it's not a case of automatics or sticks being better or worse than one another. These people are either slow or really, really bad at driving a stick shift. My current car is a manual and most of the time I'm ahead of other cars at traffic lights without me even trying to be faster than the other cars.
  21. I've never seen an episode of any show that's as incoherent as this episode was. I actually think that the back end of the Earth ship looked more like the back of the Nadesico than it did the Macross Quarter.
  22. I was actually enjoying The Plan, so as far as I'm concerned, I did miss something.
  23. I'm hoping they air it again. I recorded it with my DVR, but for some reason I lost the sound during the last 20 minutes.
  24. I have the Hi-Nu myself. My only complaint about the kit is that it's smaller than the MG of the regular Nu Gundam. Is it supposed to be that much smaller?
  25. I still laugh when I remember seeing MEMO claim on rt.com that Robotech had a huge following in the UK! However, a friend of mine in London told me otherwise.
