  1. Well, that's great...if you don't have a computer. Still, as a videogame console, it just hasn't appealed to me yet. I would like to play Halo2, but I'm willing to wait until it's available for the PC. Crimson Skies 2 lost my interest the moment I heard it was an arcade style shooter like Rogue Squadron instead of a true flight sim style game like the original. Might be worth getting once it drops to 99 bucks, though. Er... Crimson skies was an arcade style shooter like Rogue Squadron for the PC. The only flight sim elements in it was stalling out because of a lack of forward thrust, proper airplane controls, some turbulence when you went really fast, and a ground to crash into. There's no torque, no gyro effect, no wind, no blackouts, no spins etc... Go play IL-2 Sturmkovik Forgotten Battles and play a real flight sim. As for the X-box... I still don't want one. I've never liked it, and I never will.
  2. The only serious problem that I could encounter is if the modification will be structurally sound. It's the slider that holds the front and back halves of the body together. It will require careful thought... Thought that will happen later in late April/early May. A little thing called exams and essays (12, 8, 8 pages) to write...
  3. How does that affect transformation? I would have modified the bars to make them slidable. This way in Battroid mode, the bars slide down out of sight, and can be re-extended for transformation back into Gerwalk or fighter mode. I should try it on a nearly crapped out Yammie 11...

Looks great! But wasn't the brief shot of the GPB in DYRL was one with a 1J head? Unless, I missed the other shot somewhere...
  5. But there is a custom tax for importing goods from Japan to Canada. It's PST (Provincial Sales Tax), GST (Goods and Services Tax), and plus a $5 handling charge by Canada post. So, for me it's 15% total tax + $5. Oh and Via SAL, I've had stuff arrive as little as 7 days, all the way up to a month. The one time I've used EMS, I still paid customs, but a bit less than I should have... Also, the shipment (a Yammie VF-11 and YF-21 FP) arrived in about 4 days.
  6. Yes it does, whether the manga came out before the anime or vice-versa. This thread is about the differences between adaptations. That's the problem. The manga was started before the movie was made, and the movie was made while the manga was not completed. Also, Miyazaki has stated that he doesn't want people compairing the manga to the movie, as they should be considered two seperate entities. But if I were to compare the movie to the book, it's basically the first book of the Viz boxed set (in 4 volumes), with the God Warrior thrown in.
  7. HLJ.com has pretty much all of the regular 1:72 VFs produced by Hasegawa. Shipping's not too horrible either to boot. Unless of course, you use EMS...
  8. Before I start mine, does The Nausicaa manga and movie count? I think it would, but I'm not quite sure... Just a point of clarification.
  9. No, the Meltrandi ship was aiming for the twin booms on the back of the SDF-1 in Storm Attacker mode (aka freaking huge mech). If you watch DYRL, there's a bit of the booms left, well above the command tower.

    Homeworld 2

If you bought your game new, return it, and ask for another copy. If you bought it used, return it and ask for another copy. Chances are, your disk is defective. If you see a scratch running parallel to the information encoded on the disk (not in a straight line outwards from the center, but a curved line), then the disk is toast. Follow the instructions above. If the disk is spotless, then there's a chance it's your OS that's causing the problem. Try installing something else to see if the same thing comes up. One other thing you could do: When you pop in the disk (and if you're using Windows 98), hold the shift key down while the drive closes and the OS checks the disk. When the read light goes off, go to MY COMPUTER, and RIGHT CLICK on your CD ROM drive. select OPEN from the menu, and find the file marked SETUP or INSTALL (something like that). Your game should install. You've basically bypassed Window's tendency to recognize and use the Autorun feature on the disk.
  11. Most likely. The designers may have taken into account the minute thickness of the paint when working out the size of the ball and socket joint. Then again, perhaps you sanded off some metal...
  12. An update to the missing parts on the 1A: I called the store which sold me the 1A, and they agreed to allow me to grab the parts trees that I need (1 of Q, and 1 of K). Just to make sure, aside from the head, some slight nose cone differences (mainly where the head sits), and the decals, pretty much the body of the Hasegawa VF-1 models can be interchanged? They have the Angel Birds and the Hikaru 1J in stock.
  13. I kinda figured that already. It's pretty much the only thing I remember from chemestry in high school. When in doubt, do not mix. Also: I opened up the bag to my Hase VF-1A... And it's missing 2 entire sprues!!! Oh well... Back to the store...
  14. Thanks for the great buildup so far WM! I myself am starting on my first Hasegawa VF-1, the Strike Battroid kit. It's really nice, and most of the work is in the decaling of the thing. Although two "AAAAHHHHGGGHHH!!!" moments happened. The first involved a clear coat that didn't react very well with the paint underneath (luckly, it was only the wings, so a bit of sanding, and repainting fixed it very well), and the second happened a few minutes ago with the anti-glare decal. Basically it shifted just as I was applying Miscosol. At least it was fixed nicely with a bit of masking tape and some black paint. Since I'm kind of new using microsol, is there a "proper" method to apply it? The way I do it at the moment is I wet the decal, slide it off of the backing paper, position the decal on the model, blot out the water, and then apply microsol. Is it possible that I'm doing something wrong? But enough about me! Keep up the excellent work WM!
  15. I'd like to point out that Eden, while Earth-like, probably has a different sort/size/composition of an atmosphere. But considering he was going straight up, and as long as he wasn't accelerating, he would be fine. When you feel G-forces, you're feeling the change in direction as your body resists the change.
  16. I'd like to point out that the Prometheus is also longer than a regular carrier. A VF may be able to land on one without the use of a arrestor hook. As to landing in Gerwalk mode, a careful look at the Hasegawa decal placement diagrams shows three points on the fuselage that shows the mechanics where they can attach an overhead crane.
  17. be prepared to lose an hour of your time if you decide to. You can cut it down to about 20 minutes with a pair of wire snippers.
  18. Well, I could assume that beam weapons may not be as reliable as a traditional gun in the Macross Universe. However, considering that there are lasers mounted into the head of most VFs, I think it may be a cost issue as well. Guns are cheap. Lasers aren't (at least in our world).
  19. Hmm... Clear nail polish on the pegs? Or if you feel like doing some sort of surgury, you could try extending the pegs using a pinvise and some spare brass tubing.

    OPPSY!^^

Technically, you can't copyright the picture, at least in the legal sense. Misa isn't owned by Albert or You. She's owned by... somebody else (Big West I think). But it's good that you're letting people know who originally did the picture. EDIT: Oh, by the way, Misa's great, and while the proportions on the VF-2SS is a tad... Unusual, it's stylized and looks great!
  21. My advice would be to get at the hinge somehow (which probably involves taking the nose apart), and applying clear nail polish to tighten up the joint. That or, you could use some double sided tape on the contact edges to hold it closed.
  22. I think the Scarface logo should go on either the arms or the backpack cannons. It just seems odd that it would be on a leg... Other than that, it looks great. I should get around to building mine sometime down the line...
  23. Here's an update: 1:60s Super Hikaru DYRL? Max Upper thighs of the Elintseeker (needed replacement parts) 1:72s YF-21 Fast Pack VF-11 Fast Pack (technically it's in 1:60ish scale...) 1:48s None yet. Other Escaflowne That's my little collection of Yamatos. I'm crossing my fingers for a 1:48 and 1:48 Fast Pack sale some time in the future at HLJ...
  24. VF-19

    Would you buy it?

I voted Hell Yes, but I have a qualifier. I want full internal detail (with removeable engines etc...), the ability to transform perfectly between all three modes, and for it to come with a display base (just to make it easier to pose).

    VF-1S Strike Bandai

Not nessiccarily. It may look like it's painted over, but it may either be the heat sheild in place or it's just the camera angle. But yah, those arms are a tad odd...
