At this scale, acceptable compromises.....these HMR VF-1's all seem to also have DYRL-style canopies and unless they are designing TV-style Super Packs.....those will remain DYRL-style also.... Either way, this line is pure win for Bandai.....
-
Yes, but the pilot is not removable (currently glued in place). So they will probably need to change it so the pilot can be pulled out and plugged back into the seat.
-
That's awesome! They are including everything to make either version.....even the pilots!.......minimum 2 pre-orders.........pure marketing genius! Bandai FTW!
-
yes...cover it up with plenty of SAP!
-
Time to start the TV VF-1A hype train! ...and if it is true that they will include DYRL "parts" we can probably expect..... Which means they can't leave TV/DYRL Max -1A's without a proper Q-Rau to battle with.... HM-R(espect)
-
And pinkish too!

TV: TV "clown" hand....."magic hands" are supposedly found in both TV and DYRL arms.... DYRL: It can also be argued that the "brown" color also varies between the TV and film versions..... Additionally, the cockpit canopy is different between the TV, DYRL, and Macross the First! But I think the HMR line has adopted the DYRL type for their canopies.....they also, based on the HM release and the prototypes shown for the HMR releases, seem to be adopting the DYRL type of fast-packs and armor....the released GBP was clearly meant to be a DYRL version, but they goofed up the color of the missile tips! And of course.....the pilots..... TV..... DYRL..... I hope they mean they will include VF-1A head units for both TV and DYRL versions! That hasn't been done since the cheapo Banpresto VF-1 valks!....But they may just mean they will throw in some "clown" hands....

You can have any iconic Macross image done for you by a pro for $35....but I'd like to see someone try these do-it-yourself cels.... Here are the rest... http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=42362

An Arcadia "white" VF-11B would be perfect!
-
A Macross the First SDF-1 as a side-benefit from owning both the Megahouse and Wham would have been nice...

Agreed! -
Anyone check to see if there is a way to remove the Daedelus and Prometheus from the SDF-1 without breaking anything? I was hoping they would be detachable to try and fit them onto the Wham DYRL SDF-1 for an instant Macross the First SDF-1....

Build Quality: For being a 3P product the MasterMade DYRL SDF-1 is an extremely high quality product. It is good enough to compete with products from Yamato, Bandai or Arcadia. If it had been released by either of these companies, it would have been at least $50 more. The Megahouse TV SDF-1 is basically a low-cost option for collectors so it is kind of unfair to compare it to the Makuros, even if the Makuros was similarly priced. I would have to say the Makuros wins over the Megahouse simply because it was built as a high-end toy. Additionally, it almost has perfect transformation. The Megahouse is a 100% partsformer. Hopefully, if sales are good, Bandai will greenlight a full DX version of either the TV or DYRL version….personally I would hope it is the TV version. The TV SDF-1 deserves a 1/3000 makeover! Details: The Megahouse SDF-1 has a nice sculpt, but it suffers from stubby legs in Attacker mode. IMO, it was already designed as a partsformer, so why not just supply extra legs for Attacker mode so it would look good in all modes? I’m guessing Megahouse did not want to exceed a certain price-point for this toy. The toy has good paint applications, but that is about it. It has about as much articulation as you’d expect from an SDF-1. All the joints are held via friction. No ratchety clicks like on the Makuros. The winner in this category definitely goes to MasterMade, but again, the Makuros was designed to be a higher quality toy….the Megahouse from the get-go was designed to be a low-cost alternative. Value for money: Hands down, the MasterMade Makuros , at the original cost of around $100 is a better value. However, it is a DYRL version and it is an SD representation. Some folks don’t care much for SD designs. I personally do not, but am more forgiving when it comes to Macross SD toys. Additionally, there is no other game in town for a TV SDF-1 at the moment and its price will not bust most wallets. I would recommend purchasing this toy. It is almost the same length as the Makuros and it displays well together. I hope this helps in your decision. Good luck! Some pics:
