I'm too sexy for my shirt.

Since I have no brush painting skills to speak of, I airbrushed the much larger mermaid on my ancient V-Siren ð But I'm sure you can pull it off. The kits I saw that used the decal didn't look good IMO.

@Thom That's a great looking cockpit, too bad it's mostly invisible in the finished kit. @Papa Rat Finishing a MH is so satisfying, isn't it? _ I finally got the Deer Stalker legs finished.

It's really impressive how the show blunders this amazing concept.

The General Movie Thread
electric indigo replied to TangledThorns's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Haha, I bailed out of Frankenstein after half the runtime. There were some beautiful shots and memorable scenes, like the demonstration you mentioned, but these were outweighted by the issues I had by then. The way the narration was presented, it never dragged me into the movie. Scenes felt disjointed as if shot by different directors, the character interactions couldn't have been worse if they werd directed by George Lucas, the music was off, and the cinematography and VFX were all over the place â the introduction in the polar circle felt like it was shot entirely in Unreal Engine. This should have been a homerun for GDT, so I'm still puzzled what went wrong.- 1856 replies

Gene splicing alert! -
From what I understand, the offer in the Goosmile shop gives you two full kits, so that's a pretty good price: https://www.goodsmileus.com/collections/blassty

Apparently, it's from a game franchise called Iron Saga, but illustrations are sparse, and I don't know who designed it. I also only found one modeler who finished a painted kit. The Deer Stalker is about the size of a MG kit, and the BFG is included.

You can still get one at Hobbysearch. Details & fit are great, but the tolerances are too tight in some places so there are problems getting the parts into their end position. Compared to Bandai or recent Moderoids, this one at times feels like working on a garage kit.

That Bellvine is so tempting, but my stash is crushing me already. It's great to see what injection molding can do recently, it feels like exponential progress over the last years â but that also means even more kits to choose from. I'm currently on what I hope to be the final stretches of this early kit from the Moderoid line, the Deer Stalker R x R. Still lots of masking to do.

Thank you very much for the appreciation! The PA is a Fujita design, but I wanted it to push towards the FSS side, as you noticed, so I lengthened the ankles, the midsection and the neck. The leaner MSG hands and the modified elbow joints work in the same direction. The massive anti-ship missiles would have countered this concept (IMO they are too large even on the original kit). I considered just using a light color here, but in the end I made new missiles from plastic rods. Coincidentally, they emphasize the Uma-jirushi appearance that might have been the base for the wing design. Limiting the additional details also works nicely for actually finishing a kit ð

For fans of those crazy Zeta designs: I finished the HGUC Pallas Athene with little modifications. More pics about the building process are in my flickr album.

Easy fix â just make your own missiles ð I didn't like how the original weapons put so much weight outside of the graceful silhouette of the MS, so I went for a lighter design. Just plastic rods with a tapered tip and added microstrips, and I went for a retro animation color. You still have make 8 of them and fix them on the kit ðĪŠ. This is the result so far:

We have boxart, and it does not disappoint.

You'd think that Tron is a pretty recognizable brand with unlimited merchandise potential across all ages. All it needs is a more compelling narration that A) roots it deep in the 80s retro game vibe culture or B) makes it more relevant in the recent tech/AI development background. Ares was neither, and the narrative failures finished it off IMO.

Just remake the OG Tron with state of the art CGI, but keep the 80s vibe.
