Darkwolf is the character's name and he lovingly cleaves his axe into a great many bodies throughout the film To be quite honest, none of the characters in the film use much clothing. Teegra and Larn (the female and male lead characters) pretty much walk around in a loin cloth the entire film. Every other character is pretty much just a variation on prehistoric minimalist clothing

Yup, rotoscoping is the correct term for the animation used in the film. It involves drawing over live action performance, but high quality rotoscope animation is difficult to do and quite rare, despite the obvious time-saving advantages. There's a good, brief entry on rotoscoping at Wiki: Wikipedia's Rotoscoping Definition

Just purchased a very nice DVD edition of this old animated film from way back in 1983. Fire and Ice stands as one of the few western animated films to offer a somewhat mature fantasy story to the audience. Haven't seen it in years, but I must say for an old fantasy/sci-fi buff like myself, this film ages well. I grew up on Conan, D&D, Lord of the Rings, Dragonlance, and Terry Brooks novels, so for a fan like me, this film was a special treat. Anyone else like this film? Here's the IMDB entry if you need some more information to help fire the old synapses Internet Movie Database entry for Fire and Ice

Yes, it's the 1/72 Hasegawa fighter kit 334634[/snapback] Thanks. It's VERY nice. I especially like the reflective metallic coating on the feet/thrusters.

Are those pictures from a completed VF-0 fighter model?

Peter Jackson to exec produce HALO movie

That's why sight lines on set are so important. Kinda ironic that Lucas is the master of the CGI scene, but the sight lines of the live action actors are so damn poor. Regardless, Star Wars represents excess of CG and I only used the examples of the CG/Live Action suits that worked well in the films. Done right it works well. The scenes with the CGI Jango and Spider-Man were well utilized, typically for flying, over-the-top stunts, and other spectacular acts. -

Well, at the risk of giving A1 more press... No Uwe Boll/Paul W.S. Anderson = Possibility of Good Movie -

I don't see any problem with a setup ala Spider-Man or Star Wars Jango Fett. Use a properly cast actor in a suit for most of the film, complimented with a well done CGI model for some of the special circumstances/action shots. Worked beautifully in both films as far as I'm concerned. -

The Halo games have quite a good story, background, and plenty of personalities to fill out a film; especially a sci-fi action flick. Let me put it this way; compared to Doom's story, Halo looks like Lord of the Rings. Andy Serkis is not at all that thin, though he wouldn't fill the role of a 7 foot tall super soldier. Regardless, I doubt he's being considered in anyway for a live action role as the MC. Actually, the Master Chief isn't all that massive, especially as depicted in the sequel. He's got height and a full build, but taking into account room for the armor, he can't be Zangief inside that suit. The casting director would do well to just cast someone with an average build, but plenty of height. -
Oh, I have a section called Art Websites on my browser which includes some websites now seven years old and going. I tend to hold onto what I find, even those that lack updates. Visual art, moreso than music and literature, has more of an impact on my imagination than any other medium. I really enjoy all the movements in science fiction art. It's probably the style of art that motivated me to explore more contemporary art forms like film, anime, and music. I'm also a big fan of the above mentioned artists and I love the Homeworld PC games

Depends on the person. However, I think most of us - especially us fans who have been part of these conversations before - understand that those fans yearning for good old anime they love generally refer to the 1980's era. But I digress, a solid definition for what constitutes "old anime" is very hard to achieve. Even in film, it often takes several decades after a movement in artform has passed before you start categorizing and understanding. Then you get into all kinds of annoying, obscure definitions like modernism, post-modernism, digression, eclecticism, blah, blah, blah. Personally, I've always enjoyed the decade rule as well. Even the last ten years encompasses an art movements, it's still new to me if it was made in the past decade.

Whoa, I think the universe just exploded. Someone with talent...attached to a video game feature film? Never thought I'd see the day. Naturally, I'll reserve judgement for the end result (as always), but I wouldn't be me if I didn't have concerns Well, I'm very happy with the news. Unlike so many pre-production announcements, this gives me hope as a enthusiastic fan of the Halo games. News like this sure beats watching the hideous Uwe Boll/Paul W.S. Anderson juggernaught roll over every good science fiction franchise, leaving tomato paste and mentally violated fans. -
Whoa! How the heck did I miss this thread the first time around? I've just spent some time going through your website. Your artwork is very good. Both your hand drawn art and the 3D artwork shows a lot of creativity as well as a fine legacy of recognizable inspiration from past artists. Naturally, I can see the inspiriation from Macross mecha styles and motifs, but as a big fan of science fiction artwork I can see many other influences. In particular, your spacescapes and starships bear resemblance to the work of British science fiction artist Christopher Foss. The use of primary colors mixed into odd patterns, the use of symbols, and massive shapes all point toward some Foss influence. I can also see some Peter Elson and Ralph McQuarrie in your designs. Some of your mecha concept art reminds me of the early work of Syd Mead. Then of course as any good artist, you have a bunch of work all your own. I particularly like some of the lineart starships, especially the one featured on your mainpage. Well, I'm going to bookmark your website and check up regularly. Good job!

Although I do enjoy the rare dub, most dubs today are still of a very poor level of quality. I won't be happy with this dub unless it's of a level equal or superior to the Cowboy Bebop dub. By necessity, I still watch the majority of my anime in subtitled format. Doesn't really bother me, since I'm a big fan of foreign film, I'm pretty much accustomed to it.

Which is why my proposal makes sense. A half dozen wallpapers for those who don't own the book would be no more of a copyright violation than scanned sampler pages from a website like Amazon.com Sampler Page for Star Wars ICS Book The rest of the book could be made available to those that own it (such as myself) using a simple method of identification. A simple solution that keeps everyone happy.

For a GI Joe film that has all the quality of a Bollywood porn shot in Prague, then by all means bake this cast of pathetic wannabe B-actors and throw in good ole Uwe Boll as the cherry on top. Everything I've come to expect of the fine think tank at AICN

The deleted scenes in the other prequels were enjoyable, though didn't yield much in the way of information about the Star Wars universe that wasn't already known. Still, I'm looking forward to viewing them.

The decision has already been made, and it's to go. It sounds like you've already discovered what you REALLY want to be doing, you're just experiencing anxiety over the actual commitment and trepidation at the difficulty you can see in the future. Commit to AI, take the hit, and go where life leads you.

Personally, I like the distinctive look the overlapped wings give the VF-0. Makes it look different from the old VF-1 and it would be more functional for the real robot (just playing suspension of disbelief games here). I can see a simple solution to any folding wing problem; just create a tapered folding housing. WHen the wings are extended (such as in fighter mode), they are level. As you fold the wings back, once side of the housing is tapered so the left wing will fold over the right. Simple solution. But honestly, even if the wings were not exactly level in fighter mode, the difference would be negligible. None of my 1/48 yammies are absolutely, 100% level in the fully extended wing configuration. There's always some variance, albiet very small.

Most impressive. Given the limited amount of changes necessary to make a D variant, I often ponder Yamato's lack of a offical release. You've managed a fine, professional looking job on your own. Seems like an easy task for the company that designed the toy. This custom looks great. Well done.

And so...

Various technologies are involved in the design of gunpods as are design considerations such as muzzle velocity, ammunition, function, cost, reliability, etc. Sure we can build smaller guns with current tech...but "current tech" weaponry isn't going to do much good against war machines armed with OverTechnology. Hypercarbons, SWAG armor, etc are all a major consideration. These considerations might necessitate the need for a bigger gunpod; a gunpod that can defeat these new defensive technologies which now rule the battlefield. Your "current tech" 55 mm gun, built so small it can fit on a jeep, doesn't have the muzzle velocity, ammunition capacity, nor penetrating power to defeat OverTechnology. You need a bigger gun to propel more rounds, fire them faster, and hold more ammunition. So you build a GU-11

I was waiting for someone to mention the wings of the VF-0 in battroid. I was curious why the wings in Battroid mode are folded to meet on edge, as opposed to overlapping wings that fold one on top of the other like the CG model and lineart.

A search engine is always my homepage. Always has been and I imagine it always will be. Now would probably be a good time to mention that I always visit the MW Main page before going to the forums. I do not have a direct link to the forums. Seems to be some point of contention for people here, so it's worth mentioning.

Best policy is to ignore and block messages, which is a feature of both e-mail and online messaging systems. You can also block user here on MW if need be. I can't imagine the staff here taking action against a member for activities outside the MacrossWorld website. It's not really their mandate. I can imagine an arbitration is the best you could hope for, if the staff even want to bother. I'm not unsympathetic, as I've been the victim of some serious online intrusions. If it persists to the point where you have to take some serious action to once again protect your PC, talk to your ISP. They can offer a number of very effective solutions to safeguard your identity and IP addy.
