I was on several Gundam fansites years back and I don't remember that one. It is funny, but a little too obscure

THE UN-OFFICIAL COLOR SCHEME THREAD

LOL Wow, some one really did the Frankenstein with my pictures. Some of them look kinda cool, in a garish, super robot kinds of way. They chose the perfect lame mecha for Aquaman -
Indeed. The scale actually looks quite good.

Master Dex Me too It just really links well with the fictional tech. The glow doesn't really bother me. It could be excess energy bleeding out of the weapon. More likely, it's just an effect to make the knife appear more deadly. Like you said, it's likely overpowered in order to cut through similarly powered energy converting armor. -
Sulendil Ang Here's another interesting thought: what if the Vajra really are a separate race, but have some kind of AGREEMENT with the Macross Galaxy fleet. The Macross Galaxy fleet agrees to share something with the Vajra and the Vajra share something with the Macross Galaxy. Things go bad and the Vajra turn on the M Galaxy fleet. Now the M Galaxy players (Mr. Bilrer, Brera Sterne, Grace, possibly Leon) are desperately trying to cover up their involvement with the Vajra by destroying the Vajra and anyone knows about them. Perhaps?

Welcome to Macross World s-girl. I like the composition of the picture. Very dramatic.

I knew that blade in the VF-27's shield would extend forward The ratings make total sense. Episode 7 was wall to wall action and generated a surge of popularity via word of mouth. Episode 8 now benefits from a huge audience that heard all the great things about episde 7 and decided to tune in. Episode 9 drops off because Episode 8 wasn't the big bombastic battle show that people were lead to believe. And yes, television viewers are just that fickle -
I like the theory that the Vajra are possibly constructs built by the Macross Galaxy fleet from samples of the AFOS. They go out of control or are deliberately unleashed and factions within the Macross Frontier fleet are trying to cover up the secret. The VF-27 uses technology derived from the Vajra experiements and the Vajra themselves are affected by music to a degree just like the AFOS was.

All Along The Watchtower was originally a Bob Dylan song and has since his time become a rock staple. It's been covered by numerous bands including Jimi Hendrix and Dave Matthews. Though some fans opinions may vary, I really like the U2 cover of Watchtower

I don't think you're being melodramatic. You might be feeling Kanno has feet of clay, but like I said, that's going overboard. Covers happen all the time. I'm not defending or making excuses for the practice, only offering some perspective. I certainly don't believe Kanno's entire body of work should be somehow dismissed because she covered a few songs. I've listened to a lot of Kanno's music and I can honestly say most of it is original, at least to me. I do listen to Lunatic Calm and I recognized the connection to Touching the Sky (which I believe I've mentioned before) but big deal. Look at tunes like Feeling Good, or Helter Skelter or All Along The Watchtower. Is it only safe to cover a song if it's already been done at least a dozen times before? If Kanno's entire body of work, or a significant portion of it, were blatantly lifted without any musical reinvention, then I'd be the first to bash her. As is, she's awesome

Just ignore the wall of ignorance defense Oh yeah, I too am dying to find out what that knife is. I am fearful though that it may be something simple that we've seen a hundred times before in sci-fi, like a vibro-blade or something. It would be nice if it were something else. I had a theory a while back that the knife was actually a variation on energy converting armor, but used the same principle for offense turning the knife into a super strong blade that could cut through almost anything. I hope it's something like that, because that's a really clever idea I think (if I do say so myself) -
I'm not sure why this comes as a surprise to some. Yoko Kanno is primarily a music producer much in the same way as the likes of Paul Oakenfold. It is Yoko Kanno's ear for building new music from existing arrangements that makes her amazing. She is known as much for her skill at fusing her own musical sensibilities into a wide variety of other genres as she is for her own original tracks. It may be overstating her resume somewhat, but Yoko Kanno is very much like other virtuoso producers such as Brian Eno and Daniel Lanois. Kanno is fantastic and deserves her credit in my opinion. As for music in general, there is no genre of music that is more or less original than any other, a good lesson for the anti-rap posse here at MW. Even during the peak era of rock, the great bands like Led Zeppelin or The Beatles came under intense fire for supposedly stealing tunes, arrangements or lyrics from other genres and earlier artists. It still happens today. The recent Red Hot Chili Peppers versus Tom Petty debacle comes to mind. I still hear bits and pieces of tracks from various artists repeated in songs, sometimes spread over decades or more. Sometimes the tracks are so similar the songs are completely lifted from other artists, like much of the music from Jet. Other times a similar arrangement may lead to a totally different song altogether. Check out Morning Glory by Oasis and compare the rhythm guitar to REM's .

Kronnang If you're going to debate credibly with anyone here, I'd lose the "not my words" attempts. Your actions are speaking volumes as are the insults you're throwing. This is obviously a dead end discussion so I'm moving on. Zinjo LOL Let's not even go there Final Vegeta A good catch and I agree. The VF-25 does resemble a VF-1 in fighter mode; it just happens that in my opinion, it resembles other fighters (real and Macross) a helluva lot more -

I know exactly what you're inferring and so does Zinjo. You're also painting everyone with the same brush, so I had no choice but to properly explain the reasons for my opinion. If you don't like the opinions you're reading, don't read them, but you've got no reason start namecalling, claim we don't know anything or imply we're trying to sabotage Kawamori's credibility just because you take everything Kawamori says as infallible. -
How does a Variable Fighter move?
Mr March replied to Firefighter Destroid's topic in Movies and TV Series
JB0 I don't know if that's a proper inference. If it wasn't always pair-annihilation, then what other mention of something else anywhere else in Macross would there be? Besides, the term "reaction" was used throughout the original SDF Macross series. Perhaps pair-annihilation was described post-Macross Plus/Macross 7, but maybe that's because there wasn't a description of the technology before that. In any case, I think the Macross Compendium would have noted something like that, since it's very good at keeping track of changes over the years and noting it right on the website. Another question; how do you possibly get every atom of matter to react with every atom of antimatter in a potential reaction? I've never understood that. Yes, the principle is efficient one per one, but you can't possibly get a 100% reaction efficiency in any significant quantities. Even with a full reaction, I understand antimatter only produces 50% usable energy at best. Besides, isn't pair-annihilation too general to assume antimatter? Yes, it may be antimatter, but pair-annihilation is also used to describe fission and other reactions. With the pervasive linkage between virtually every piece of OverTechnology and super dimension space, the vague pair-annihilation reaction could very likely use the exotic "super dimension energy". When Kawamori and Co. describe pair-annihilation as extremely efficient, I'm guessing this means a near 100% reaction rate. -
I've never been shy voicing my distaste for the family friendly policy of Macross World. It's by far one of the few mature anime fandoms on the net largely consisting of older members. But Macross World has never been a good middle ground either, with all due respect. It's always been more than a little stifling in here. As far as the general immaturity on the boards, my opinion is we reap what we sow. The damage control as is does nothing to deal with it and we all maintain a comfortable level of condescending disgust Having said all that, I understand the policies here at MacrossWorld and I accept them. I've simply decided to go elsewhere for discussion that isn't PC by proxy. This is one reason among many why I've always supported more Macross fan sites, which I'm sure everyone is tired of hearing me repeat. I understand that Macross World can't be everything to every fan and that's why I've accepted it and stayed. Macross World is a fine corner of the internet and I'm thankful to both Shawn and Graham for the site (and enduring opinionated members like myself, lol . But like I said, a little variety sure would be nice

Minimal? The VF-1 has 18 low-thrust verniers and 4 high-thrust verniers without any FAST Packs. I'd say that's plenty

That's weird. I don't have a color psd file for it either. I must have missed it.

I understand, but like I said, all those design elements match the VF-19 and SV-51 styles, not the VF-1. The VF-25 engines are elevated in the center of the fighter fuselage like the VF-19 (not ventrally, like the VF-1). The VF-25 vertical stabilizers are small, outboard and mounted on the extended body just like the VF-19 (not large and inboard, like the VF-1). The entire rear half of the rear fuselage is lifting surface (including a central rear sheild) just like the VF-19 (unlike the VF-1 which has virtually no rear fuselage). The engines nozzels/feet are similar to the YF-19. The VF-25's long torpedo shaped nose, the forward fuselage/leading edge extensions and the forward intakes are all SV-51. Then there's the strong Aquarion influences (head unit, mechanised styling, ankle details). Since it's not really relevant, we'll ignore the VF-19-like transformation. The only things I see on the VF-25 that strongly scream "VF-1" are the colors (which can be put on any valkyrie) and the variable geometry wings. And I still say the wings themselves look more like the VF-0 than the VF-1, though I acknowledge that the VF-0 is basically a stealth VF-1 Is the VF-27 nose and forward fuselage more SV-51 than even the VF-25? Sure, but I've yet to be convinced the VF-25 nose and forward fuselage is somehow more VF-1 than it is SV-51. That's what I'm getting at. Perhaps in Kawamori's mind, he deliberately tried to create a VF-19/SV-51 combo that removed the stealth considerations and incorporated some VF-1 elements. I can understand that thinking. But to me, the final VF-25 design is far more reminiscent of the SV-51/VF-19 than it will ever be of the VF-1.
