It's easy and kinda fun. You don't really have to be super careful in most cases. I enjoyed doing this as I had my new Iwata to pre-shade with this time which gives you much more control than my older airbrush and thinner lines as well. Also doesn't hurt that the model is the size of a small moon..

Thanks!

Never seen that, but if it is, I will!Edit..after a quick IMDB search, yes, she is the one. Mackenzie Davis http://www.imdb.com/name/nm4496875/?ref_=nmmi_mi_nm

We'll see how it ends up! I'm nervous to work on other people's stuff, I know if I screw mine up, I'm the only one who has to look at it! In other news, I built a head today! I know I've said this before, but I'll say it again, these Bandai SW kits are just the business! So well designed, all snap fit and I'm not even gonna bother painting the figure ones I don't think! They look fine straight out of the box. The attention to detail is also present, for example, the eyes are not just black, you can't tell, but that peice was clear dark green. Very impressive.

I'm sure everyone here is going to absolutely love whatever you end up with! Great work!

Took a date to see this last night in non 3D as I just can't take it, and I'll give it a thumbs up. Beautifully shot and the Mars scenes are gorgeous. Damon did a good job as well, but for me, I was totally in love with the NASA nerd chick in the glasses ...wowwzzaa!

and so you shall.....right now! 2 hours of decanting Camouflage Grey because it is NOWHERE in bottles anymore, mixing with Light Grey in bottles and had to break out the old Paasche with the BIG bottle and the BIG needle #5 for this bad boy! I think it came out pretty darn good. God this things...big...LOL. Hindsight being 20/20 I should have just used all spray paint and decanted, then I wouldn't have had to mix at all. Oh well. I didn't cover up as much of the pre-shading as I did on my Finemolds so this go around I think it will show through better in the end..hopefully. Onwaaaards! (can you tell I just wanna knock this out quick, get paid, and get back to my stuff?)

That is FREAKIN BOSS!!! I want a custom saber so bad with different blade colors...but OUCH for the wallet! -
That's basically it yeh, just gives a darker, dirtier look to the areas after a base coat goes down. Which hopefully will happen tomorrow.

Resin sidewalls from a great guy over at the RPF came in this week, and since the weather is freakin gorgeous this evening for the first time in like ever....it's a Friday night party at the pre shading paint bench! It doesn't quite fit in my spray booth....but anyways!!!

Hasegawa announces a TV SDF-1 and a Super Messiah!
derex3592 replied to cool8or's topic in Model kits
Went ahead and cancelled my Hasagawa TV SDF-1 order. Sorry Hasa.....no sale. go back and do it right! -
Super happy I snagged mine when I did, especially since it included Super and Tornado parts.

Today I have successfully taken apart this beast to make it "easier" to paint. I also found a great contact on the RPF forums that did this exact custom project and made his own sidewall cast resin sidewall parts. He sells sets of them for it for $65 bucks a set and they look great! I ordered a set, should be here in about a week. Dangerous place the RPF...LOL...puts bad ideas in one's head. Hit it with white primer so I could see what I need to sand and fix with putty..honestly not much!

MW Member Poll: Are you planning to purchase the new Arcadia VF-0S?
derex3592 replied to microtree33's topic in Toys
Lots of "no's" here in this thread. Very interesting....I got the Arcadia 19 as I didn't have one, and I got the 0D because it is unique and it's a cool delta wing two seater. No issues with either one of those, that being said I have transformed both of them maybe twice. No love for any othe Zero Valks at the current pricing structure from Arcadia until I don't see legs snapped off in the first few guys posts around here, not to mention the lack of tampo and ridiculously thin panel lines. -
My "to build pile" is now officially nearing toppling over.....but I had to grab these while the grabbing was right...er cheap. Fracking Disney.

A dawn dishwashing soapy bath....It just cleans off any grease or dirt before I lay down primer. Usually I do model parts in the sink, but this required something a bit bigger!

FYI...for all you Star Wars guys...Starship Modeler has the Bandai 1:12 Sandtrooper and 1:72 Y-Wing in stock NOW! Go! Go! Go!

You have to have one 17 in your collection. I went for the D as I liked the color scheme best. The reason you have to have at least one is so we can hear you say "OWW, damn this peice of sh*t!" the first time you transform it. Keep the Bandaid box handy, there will be blood...LOL -
Negative! MUCH bigger! Probably close to 1:48! It's flipping huge! Yeh....I had to use the tub for giving it a Dawn dishwasher soap bath before priming. It felt kind of icky. Best bath time toy EVER! LOL

So my boss/friend who is a huge Star Wars fan, and who believes money can buy everything.... picked this up online to put up in his media room. He's not a modeler, so he wants to pay me to paint/weather and light the engines up with blue LED tape, it so it looks like my 1:72 Finemolds kit....which I told him it never really will. They really did a pretty good job on the toy straight out of the box except for two major oversights. Number one being the cockpit glass is just grey plastic and the gun turret windows are grey plastic is as well, there are pre cut black stickers for those. However the biggest omission is the detail on the sidewalls. 3D looking stickers were included for that. It's like someone had a budget meeting and said they were over budget and no one would pay $20 more bucks if they had to mold the rest of the details on the sidewalks. BOOO!!! Other than that it's pretty darn cool. So today I started out by trying to get the thing primered. We'll see how this goes...
